Gowns costs?

Hi girls! I am starting to look at wedding gowns for 9/21/02 and I was hoping to have an idea of what price range to expect. I have no idea what to budget for at this point. As of now I plan on going to Kleinfelds in Brooklyn, and probably Macy's. I'm planning from Buffalo, so I was aiming for places with a large selection. Thank you in advance for your help!

Varies a lot!

Wedding gowns vary a lot in price. They have ones that are $500 and some that are closer to $10,000! Cost depends on lots of things but mostly materials (silk is much more than polyester, beading and embroidery is more expensive than plain) and designer (expensive designers carry an implicit cost but only use high end materials) Keep in mind that Kleinfelds is very upscale and you will have problems finding a dress there for less than $2 (but there are some). If your budget is much less than that, I wouldn't suggest going to Kleinfelds at all b/c you are bound to fall in love with a dress you can't afford. My experience has been that I have been unable to find anything I would consider for less than $2K mostly because of my aversion to polyester and am very picky.

Varies a lot! There is a gown for every budget.

Like Sonicstef said you can spend $500 and you can spend $10,000. I suggest you start with a budget amount you are comfortable with and work from there. You don't want to fall in love with a $5,000 gown if its impossible to obtain. When you start making appointments at salons tell them your budget range. This way you wont be wasting your time with salons that cant accommodate you. I found that works on both ends of the spectrum. Happy Shopping!

I feel in love with a dress out of budget (my long drama)

I tried on about 10-15 dresses. I was looking in the $1000 range, but once I saw 'my dress' there was no going back. I knew from seeing it on the hanger that it was going to be the one - I didn't even want to try it on because of the price ($2450) but I couldn't stop myself. Fortunately I have a mother who is also led my her emotions and when she started crying when she saw me in the dress I knew I'd sold her on it (she's buying). But we did shop around and we were able to get it for almost $600 less. Still over budget, but worth it. They called me this week and told me its in! I can't believe I'll see MY DRESS this weekend (my wedding's not for another 6 months - the dress wasn't expected until Feb.) Good luck in your search!
