Anyone have any suggestions for granite colors to go with a cranberry cherry stain? (photos of the design in my kitchen backsplash thread)
Probably looking for something light beige with brown striations in it but im open to other ideas.

Re: Granite Colors?
Granite does stain that is why you need to seal it at least twice.
My parents had their kitchen floor sealed twice and it was fine - you still need to be careful though - dont let water prolonged on teh floor - when my mom fries she puts a large towel down in front of teh stove just as a precaution.

Re: Granite Colors?
Stef we sealed our grout with a very good sealer and so far (fingers crossed) it will hold up. The grout though if it gets stained is easy to remove and regrout. That is why we went with that. I love the Polished Porcelain. We bought the real big ones (18 inch) and put them diagonally and they look fantastic. Yes ask your friends, because my cousin is only one person. I believe if you go with a bit darker color if it does happen it won't be noticable at all.

I would go with a dark granite with your cherry cabinets. Not a big fan of the light colored with that type of cabinet, plus you are having stainless steel appliances, the ligt doesnt look good.

Re: Granite Colors?
My DH is a tile mechanic and owns his own company that does both granite counter tops and tile installations he says...'Granite should not stain!!! Marble or limestone can more easily b/c it is porous.' He said if you wax it (yup good old turtle wax)you can avoid this..And yes light grout on a countertop will eventually stain (think of your floor) and you really shouldn't tile it. Just relaying his professional opinion! Edited b/c i can't spell and misunderstood what he said the first time...
