Christie and Co. are in the Bay Terrace shopping center - I hear really good things about them. I don't know costs. I will be calling around shortly to see what the prices are (it's like 10 minutes from my house) so I will let you know if you want.

I FINALLY BOOKED PHOTO! I booked with VIP - their deal just could not be beat. I'M SO HAPPY THE REALLY MAJOR STUFF IS DONE - photo, video, music, and flowers. Now limo and honeymoon are up! But time for a break!

Congrats Olga! That sounds great! You must be so relieved to have so much under your belt.

FH is still surprising me with the Honeymoon...I just gave him a general idea of what I would like and he is working with that.

I am so happy that now that we changed the date to 2005 we can actually go on a 14-16 day honeymoon instead of a 10 day honeymoon because I will no longer have classes.

Girls....my hair/makeup person was awesome. I really liked her. Her name is Bessie and her company is called Beautiful Girls. Her # is 718-707-1089. I highly recommend her. Good luck with your search.

She came to my home...not sure about salons. My sister got married a year before me and had used her and we loved her work. She also did my mom and a couple of aunts from greece.

Angela: I go to Christie's to get my hair done. They're awesome for hair. I've never gotten my makeup done there but My MOH's sister got her hair and makeup done there for her wedding and she looked great.
It's really a great salon, so I would assume that they would only have good makeup artists there.

Girls, I hope you don't mind if I pop in with a few question.
Do you know how much Christie's charges for a cut and blow dry? I'm tired of paying $55 plus a tip where I live and the cut is no better than Astoria where I used to pay $30.

Does Bessie have a salon, or does she work out of her house? Where is she located?

If you know of any other really good salons for hair cuts that are not too expensive from around Bayside up through Manhasset, I would really appreciate it.

Bessie will come to you the day of the event. I knew I didn't want to run all around on the day of my wedding so I preferred having someone come to me. She does not have a salon...not one that I know of at least.

I go to Hair on 14th in Whitestone for my haircuts. I use Penny...she is the owner. I think I pay $40 for wash, cut & blow.

Just wanted to second Scoop's referral. Although I didn't use Bessie for my wedding since I had already booked someone else, I've seen pics of her work and she does a really good job!

I'm using Bellarino for Video (LOVED HIM!) and Jack and Rose for flowers. They quoted me an awesome price. Debbie has been doing massive amounts of research on florists so you may want to ask her too!

Olga: They're expensive. My mom went on Friday to get highlights (I think she got 2 colors) and a haircut and they charged her $195

But it looks awesome! For haircut, I usually pay about $40.
But if you want something simple, I'm sure it wouldn't be that much. Here's link to the salon's website and they have prices:
