Re: Greek Brides??
Thanks Eleni!! I will try that number - I was using Chris' number so that must have been why I havent gotten a response.Yay you are Jan too! So, how did you come up with Jan - a bunch of my friends think i am odd for choosing that month. Oh, what hall did you book - I know it is in Jersey but just wondering - The FSIL of a friend of mine is getting married at Rockleigh Country Club.

Re: Greek Brides??
Funny you ask that question, because I've been wondering that too. FH's brother also proposed to now fiancee. FH is older than younger brother and family believes older should get married before younger. He's already booked July and we (FH & I) wanted to buffer the two events a bit with some time. Rather than waiting till the fall, we found avail in Jan. We really didn't have a bunch of choices being that Easter is really early next year. But it also allowed us to provide more quality to our guests. There was a BIG $$$ difference in Jan to April and I didn't even want to know about Jun or later. It is also still pricey, but you only live once right? We went with the Florentinegardens.com if you're curious. And girls, I would love to meet for coffee one evening. I'm totally refreshed by all of your openness and willingness to share. All of you rock. Hate to say, but atypical for many Greek gals. Ya know?

Re: Greek Brides??
I just saw your hall - it is so gorgeous!! Congrats! And I totally know about the price situation!! We are getting a lot more for the price we are paying now than any other month.Totally know what you mean about the sharing thing - I was actually discussing it with a good friend of mine the other day.
Thanks again for Acoustical Fantasy's number
Oh, have you gone dress shopping yet?

Not really where I thought I would end up. Bridals are funny that way. I tried on a few ball gowns and they were not happening for me -- at all! How about you?

Re: Greek Brides??
I love the detail on the first one - especially on the bottom - the second is so elegant too! Beautiful! I like that they are simple - I am aiming for the simple elegant look -I havent gone yet - i am waiting for my MOH - she was taking a physics course and is not studying for the MCATs- so after she takes them on the 16th we're are going to go - I am going to have a lot less time when classes start again so I need to go in that week. I cant wait to go though - I have an idea what I like by looking at dresses online - but it is not just one type of style - so i just have to wait and see what looks good on me.

Re: Greek Brides??
exactly! Keep an open mind, because you never know and things can be cut so differently from designer to designer. I have to say that atmosphere is nice too. One of the shops I went too was no frills, I was 1 of 5 brides all trying stuff on at the same time. The other I was the only one in the shop, they had classical music piped in and a lovely carpeted and with furniture dressing room -- very shee-shee. Although they had a few high priced lines like keeveza ~$4K, the had a lot of reasonable stuff too.

Re: Greek Brides??
Hi girls!!Lenitsa - Welcome and good luck with your planning. Your dresses are both gorgeous. I have to admit, I'm partial to the second one though because I love strapless for a wedding gown. But they're both sooo elegant and beautiful.
Just wanted to say about Papastefanou - I had him at my wedding and he was amazing. But I was nervous for months beforehand that he would pull one of his famous stunts and not show up or something like that. To be honest, it could have happened once and for a good reason (we all know how gossip travels among Greeks
) But that's enough to make you crazy!!! Anyway, he did show up and the whole band was fabulous - the violi and clarino guys were amazing and my FIL who never compliments musicians, loved the band. The second singer, Eleni, who was a female was also excellent. Anyway, just wanted to alleviate some of the fears. I know I've mentioned this before, but there is another band, called Milos Entertainment who I saw recently at my cousin's wedding and they were one of the best I have ever heard. As good (or even better than) Papastefanou. They are definitely worth checking out.
Anyway, that's it for now!! Have a great weekend everyone!!

Re: Greek Brides??
The second dress is beautiful!!! Very ElegantWhen I went dress shopping, I always wanted a big huge dress. But because I'm tall - I looked like a friggen marshmellow!
So height has a lot to do with what kind of dress you want. Keep that in mind and keep it open - try up tons of styles!

Re: Greek Brides??
Hello! Those dresses are beautiful! My weekend was fun. FH and I visited his parents out on the island on Friday night and yesterday we went to see a band play (FH's friends) at a local bar.
Did you ladies know:
Sunday nights at Remy's is wet T-shirt night at 1am? My friend went there for a drink last week and ended up getting more than she bargained for.
I heard World has that too, but I am not sure... that's why there was a line outside last time I drove by
Edited: I am getting married on April 25, 2004 at the Metropolitan.
