It has been my esperience that the GO church only allows organ music. Good Luck with your planning and I'd be happy to help if you have any other questions.
I agree that it is most often only organ music - or alternatively a choir. However, my brother did get married in a church in Rye (i cant seem to remmeber the name fo the church) - and they allowed a recording that my sister-in-law had which included pachabel's cannon and another classical song
Thanks girls for the info....not exactly what I was hoping to hear, but I will ask at each church individually. A woman I work with got married at the GO church in Rye. It's not on my list of churches to consider as of right now....but I was contemplating it because my reception is in the Boogie-down Bronx.

Re: Greek Brides Thread
I got my stefana from George's Hellenic in Asrtoria. The place on Francis Lewis Blvd is Portara, they also have a website if you want to look at pictures of stefana: www.portara.com. And Kentrikon-Noufaro.com also has pictures, they are located in Astoria. My koumbara and I looked at a few different stores for stefana and lambathes, and to be honest with you they all basically have the same thing. I found some stores to be more expensive than others. Good luck!!!

Re: Greek Brides Thread
I think there is a place in huntington-its by appt only. It was advertised in St Paraskevi and the GO Church of Assumption. I don't know her name though, sorry. Maybe call the church and ask them. Hope this helped.

I got my koumbara a white gold cross with diamonds.. not too expensive.. she's 25, but a cross, or any nice piece of jewelry is suitable for any age, and she loved it.Not sure about any place on Long Island that sells stefana though.

Re: Greek Brides Thread
Hey Girls!I havent posted in a long time, been pretty busy with work and studying...quick question...
anyone seen those wedding favors that are like a porcelain flower with netting? I saw one and I thought it was so pretty...any idea where I could go for those where they would make them really nice?? My koumbara wants me to go with her to help her pick what I like...
Also, my koumbara and koumbaro are married...what do you think, should i get them 2 separate gifts, or one nice gift for the house? I saw someone got a versace vase...nice idea!
Thanks girls!!
Maria

Re: Greek Brides Thread
My Koumbari were also a married couple. I opted to get them something individual -- jewelry actually because I thought this was something more personal than a house item. Again, that is only what I did.

Re: Greek Brides Thread
Hi ladies,Greek bride and Italian groom here. Any suggestions on a good greek band with DJ?
Any suggestions on a greek/italian/american band? I have been looking now for weeks and can't find one that does all 3 (I would have to get 2 bands - a greek one and an american one which can sing italian).
Its tough trying to be politically correct and not making either side feel unequal.
Thanks!
