I did not hire a greek band, I am going to go over the greek music selection with my dj. I will probably need help with this really soon.

I'm marrying a Greek...well actually he's half. I want to play Greek music at the wedding so I'm def interested in what you girls think. We've booked a Greek DJ whom I love! I'm going to need some pointers for the traditional dancing.

My band is going to play the traditional Greek music and my DJ is going to play the modern Greek music that is heard in the clubs. Which DJ did you choose? I dont know who to go with or where to look for a really really good one

I am most likely going with Zoodohous Pigis or however you spell it. My church would normall be St Nicks in Flushing but i had an issue with the lady who books the weddings and fh and i got a little disgusted. Seemed like they were more concerned with making sure i pay them the $425.00 membership this yr and next yr eventhough this yr i paid the membership at a different church. She basically told me if i dont pay it this yr and a member comes along and they want my date and time then they automatically get it and i lose it. This can go on till Dec 31, 2007. I dont need the headache of worrying that that will happen.

She didnt even say we will take the difference of what you already paid and deduct it. I dont see the point in me having to pay it twice to ensure i get the date and i told her if this is all one big greek community then it shouldnt matter which church i paid. Then she went on to give me the speech that the 425 pays for con ed and so on.

I felt like telling her so if i was poor i cant get married here.

We then looked at St D in Astoria and St Catherines and they are both nice but parking in Astoria stinks and since FH is from the BX and the church is 2 min from his house we figured it would just be easier to do it there.

Mind you no other church i went to gave me the issue that the lady at St Nicks did. Basically every other church said its fine i just have to become a member with them in 2008 which makes sense.

I have heard many problems like that with St Nicks, thats why none of my friends got married there and instead they choose St D's. I dont understand , you have to pay for membership for this year and next year?? Thats 450 twice?? I am a member of St D's, I wonder what they have to say about the fees for gettting married there.

The fee for St Ds and St Catherines is 200. I had to be a member at a church this yr regardless because i am going to be the koumbara for my sister. If you are the koumbara or koumbaro you have to be a member at a church. As far as i know when you want to book the church if it is the yr before your wedding you have to be a member of the church. In my case i am a member elsewhere so most churchs are fine with that i just have to join their parish in 2008. The lady at St Nicks was the only one that told me that was no good

Re: *~*~*~*~GREEK BRIDES WEDDING THREAD~*~*~*~*

I doubt it. I think if Zoodohoue Peghes says they arent available then FH said we should just go to St Pauls because we both really like that church. Even though when i called them they said its ok im a member some where else they just request you make a donation in 2008 for $750.00. (sounds like thats 2 yrs worth of a membership )

Apparently if you want to get married in church the traditional way you have to have lots of money

thats biathc did the samr thing to me.. let me guess Eugenia right??!!!
anyhoo i raise all he!l in there and belive me they didnt give my date to anyone. I would have raise more he!l but my lil bro goes to the afternoon school there and i didnt want him to have any issues there. But i did remind them that what they are trying to do is against the rules or our archdiocese and that i would report them if they continued the issue with me. I told them that i alos found out that they already have 2 complaints against them for the smae thing and that the 3rd wouldnt look so great for them.
another thing that they did to me was they tried to tell me that both me and FH would have to pay membership fees there for the same year. I told them that either we pay as a family or he will register somewhere else and I will pay for a single person. Basically they tried to get me to give them almost 2k.. b4 i even walked throught their doors.
Aagin the reson that i didnt cause a HUGE issue was cuz my bro goes to school there but if he didnt I wouldnt be getting married there.

Re: *~*~*~*~GREEK BRIDES WEDDING THREAD~*~*~*~*

My Hubby is Greek and we got married at Holy Trinity in New Rochelle (5 mins away from our Reception) WE LOVED the priest! He was amazing! Easy going, funny and the ceremony was mostly in english and some greek....it was perfect!

We hired a band from Hank Lane...it was a 5 piece american band and a 3 piece greek band and they were AMAZING! Everyone was dancing the whole night. We played more american than greek....but the band did a great job making sure everyone was happy!

I'm really surprised reading these complaints about St. Nicks and Eugenia...

I got married there last years and Eugenia was one of the easiest people to deal with. I found her very organized and actually pleasant.....

Do you know which priest is marrying you? I hear Father Paul is very strict about the shoulder covering rule.....

yeah they have a few complaints about this same issue against them.
When i met with her a few weeks ago she was very nice and eager to help me.. i had a few questions about the marriage lic.
As far as i know...I requested father taso and was told that as long as all is well.. he will be preforming my service. I was sooooooo happy when she told me that cuz im not too fond of father Paul. He is very strct withthe shoulder covering but i dont care about that...its other things that I dont agree with about him.
