From what I see it's been a while since anyone posted in this thread, but I just found this site as I was browsing for Greek Bands....So far I have only spoken to a couple of bands. Was just wondering if anyone has heard of the band, The Trojans, and if so, any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!![]()
Hello date twin. Im sorry i have never heard of the trojans. I dont even know many bands all i know is that was my moms department and she booked them. I handled the DJ end of it lol.
I can tell you we didnt book powerstation so they may still be up for grabs.

Does anyone know what the koumbari are technically responsible for:I was my sister's koumbara so i just did things just to do them for her but my cousin is mine and i just want to make sure i know what i am responsible for.
I know for sure the koumbari get the following:
favors, stefana, lambades. Is there anything else? I heard something about tipping the priest and so on but i dont know if that is accurate???

I think you got everything, my goumbari mentioned that they are responsible for tipping the priest.
Ques: Are the goumbari considered part of the BP? Do they also walk down the aisle??

Jennie didn't have them walk with the bridal party. They waited up front. But you can do either way, at least that is what the priest told her during rehearsal.

I am most likely going with Zoodohous Pigis or however you spell it. My church would normall be St Nicks in Flushing but i had an issue with the lady who books the weddings and fh and i got a little disgusted. Seemed like they were more concerned with making sure i pay them the $425.00 membership this yr and next yr eventhough this yr i paid the membership at a different church. She basically told me if i dont pay it this yr and a member comes along and they want my date and time then they automatically get it and i lose it. This can go on till Dec 31, 2007. I dont need the headache of worrying that that will happen.
She didnt even say we will take the difference of what you already paid and deduct it. I dont see the point in me having to pay it twice to ensure i get the date and i told her if this is all one big greek community then it shouldnt matter which church i paid. Then she went on to give me the speech that the 425 pays for con ed and so on.
I felt like telling her so if i was poor i cant get married here.
We then looked at St D in Astoria and St Catherines and they are both nice but parking in Astoria stinks and since FH is from the BX and the church is 2 min from his house we figured it would just be easier to do it there.
Mind you no other church i went to gave me the issue that the lady at St Nicks did. Basically every other church said its fine i just have to become a member with them in 2008 which makes sense.
St.demetrios and st catherine's also have a cheaper membership fee. it's only 200 for the year.

Well i know for my sister's wedding i was her koumbara as well as her MOH so i walked down the aisle. I guess its a preference or maybe it depends on what the priest tells you. From what i have noticed each one does things a bit differently.

Thanks but we already book Zeodohou Peghe. It is actually more convient for us since it is right by FH house and literally 5 minutes over the whitestone bridge.

Hey date twin! Hehehe..that's funny
I guess I'll try Delta Band too...I tried Powerstation already and they're booked. When I asked the guy for recommendations, he said that The Trojans can be a bit old fashioned
...I guess I'll have to do more research on it.As far as the koubaroi go, I don't think they're responsible for anything you didn't mention. Don't forget that you should get them a gift as well

THanxxx. I think he is the only priest there but i am not sure. I spoke with him once and he definately seemed real nice and he didnt have the greek accent so if he would speak english all of FHs family will clearly understand him lol FH is not greek so i want the ceremony to have some english incorporated in it so FH understands whats going on lol

I know what you mean...I hope it will be easier picking a gift since mine are a couple...are your koumbaroi a couple? As far as the koumbaroi walking down the aisle or not, I think it really depends on what you want to do...for me, I don't mind either way...whatever they want to do would be fine.
Well, the ceremony and the reception will be in CT...Holy Trinity in Bridgeport and The Hyatt in Greenwich.
Did you decide if you will go with Zoodoho Pigis?
Where is the North Ritz Club? I've heard of it before, (I'm originally from NY), but not sure of its whereabouts.
