Re: Greek Orthodox Weddings/Brides
Hi everyone!
We're getting married @ St. Demetrios in Merrick b/c my church, St. Paul's in Hempstead is closed on the day of my wedding. It's Memorial Day and the priests have special services that they perform at certain graveyards - and the church is closed!
I've been a member since I was 6 years old and I'm upset - but what am I going to do?
At least I found a church that will be open - so I can still have the Greek ceremony.
And, our reception is at the Crescent Beach Club in Bayville in the evening.
I'm glad that we have a greek thread going!

Re: Greek Orthodox Weddings/Brides
do you know what you are doing yet with music during your ceremony? i had a brain fart the other day, and realized that besides getting my stefana, flowers & lambades - i didn't think of any music stuff for the church!!!!

Re: Greek Orthodox Weddings/Brides
Since I am not having a Bridal Party, I am thinking of walking down the aisle to Pachbel Canon in D.

Re: Greek Orthodox Weddings/Brides
don't know yet...have to look into that. I know the church has an organist (sp?) but I think I might want something different (violin??). I think I have to check with my church first to make sure they allow it. Hopefully they do because I've heard that some Greek Orthodox churches don't allow it.

Re: Greek Orthodox Weddings/Brides
Did you get all the paperwork done that you need? My church gave me a checklist...I still need to get my baptismal papers from Greece!!!

Re: Greek Orthodox Weddings/Brides
my priest didn't ask me for all that stuff - he knows my family personally - all he asked for was pete's paperwork (he's not GO), and i got that all taken care of - but i completely forgot about the music!

Re: Greek Orthodox Weddings/Brides
You're lucky!! Don't stress about the music. Just call up the church and ask. Maybe they can help you out.
