Greek/Italian Weddings~Anyone??

Original post by MrsRallis07

I'm Italian & my FH is Greek.
Are there any other Greek/Italian weddings going on? I'm curious to know some Greek or Italian traditions that maybe my FH & I aren't aware of. Any ideas?

Do Greeks really break plates? Do catering halls actually allow this to happen?
I know about the money dancing which I think is cool. Is there anything else?

What are some good traditional Italian songs?
I'm having a hard time thinking of past Italian weddings that I've been too.

The only thing you have to bring to the church are the rings. Your koumbaro/koumbara is responsible for buying the stefana, 2 candles that you and your husband will hold, and a silver platter filled with koufeta. They can also buy 2 additional candles that are meant for decoration and they are huge (3' tall or so). They are beautifully decorated but are not necessary for the service. If they do buy the huge candles make sure you keep whatever decorations and material is on them. You can make a table cloth out of it or a christening outfit for your kid......

Also the koufeta in the silver platter can be given to single people after the service. You're suppose to give them 3 and they are suppose to put it under their pillow to dream of who they will marry.

Hope that helps.

ps...there are no vows.....(didn't know if you knew that)

We are having a greek musician also, FH is bringing a musician from Crete..For us., we have to pay for their airfare and hotel accomodations..if they dont have family here...and then they just get the money that is thrown and may charge us about 2,000.
