Re: Groom's Mom Wears Black

My sister wore a black gown with sequins and beige contrasts to her son's wedding. She looked absolutely elegant!

Re: Groom's Mom Wears Black

I'm sure some of you will gasp at this: My mother is walking me down the aisle and she's wearing ivory! (my gown is ivory).

When she tried on the dress, she asked me if I thought it would be a problem if she wore ivory and since the dress looked fantastic on her and fit like a dream I told her it was just fine with me.

First of all, does anyone else think it's totally cool that a guy posted on here!

Second, tanbride, I love your MILs dress. I would say though, that her dress is not what I would call a typical black dress. It's black & tan and very unique, stunning etc.

I dunno, JMO!

i dont know how many supporters you'd have on the cool thing - i can rub elbows the wrong way sometimes

Re: Groom's Mom Wears Black

My mother wore black to my brother's wedding...she looked absolutely beautiful!!! A lot of people told her not to. Personally, I don't see what the big deal is. As long as your mother feels comfortable and beautiful...don't give her any grief, it's not worth it!!

Re: Groom's Mom Wears Black

I agree with Christine - sometimes people wear black to show displeasure with the wedding. However, if your FW isn't comfortable with it, I would think twice.

Remember how sensitive people can be about their weddings - I know I'd FREAK OUT if my FMIL wore black to our wedding.

If everyone involved (you and your fiancee) are happy and comfortable, there's no problem.
