Groomsmen want to play dungeons and dragons on the wedding day!

Original post by hocus

My boyfriend's groomsmen have suggested playing D&D between the AM rehearsal and the pictures. They invited the rest of the D&D group to do this -- even though there are not in the wedding party.

Are they insane!?!

Who plays D&D on the day of a wedding?

Not to mention:
1. there is only about and hour and half of down time during the day.
2. Not all the groomsmen play, including one who is flying in from Chicago. What will he do during this time?
3. My mother planned a brunch for the wedding party, which these losers are planning on skipping to play this D&D game.
4. They have no sense of time management and will refuse to stop playing a game it 'they are in the middle' of something. We once left them in our apartment because they wouldn't stop, when I came home.
5. They were planning on bring their girlfriends down with them, so they won't have to come alone later. What are their girlfriends - who don't play -- going to do at this time?

It seems that the focus has been lost in the thread....

From what I've read, you're not concerned with your fiance playing a game the day of the wedding - but afraid that his groomsmen will want to, and thus, possibly lose track of time and not show up to the wedding. I think that's an understandable concern, as this is not their wedding day, so it's not as important to them as it is to you and your future husband.

Could you talk to your fiance and explain your concerns, letting him know that there are things that have been planned for that day, and you would like the entire bridal party to participate in them. And that you're worried that his friend smight be late if they are palying a game.

As great as it is to have a stress reliever on the day of your wedding - it's really not worth it if it's going to cause trouble for the bride and groom.

I would stress your concerns to your fiance and have him talk to his friends about it.
Perhaps you can all strike up a compomise of some sort

Well, I haven't walked down the asile yet, however I think FH's should set up times for these activities, and FOCUS on the wedding.

I'd be really dissapointed ig my FH wanted to play poker(his game on choice) on our big day. That's b/c if he lost he'd sulk the whole day....

MCDO: Don't even bother at this point. Its a lost debate.

Just do this... ... and move on.

Us guys are just not supposed to understand.

Secretly, I hope FH takes a nap so can de-flower me on our wedding night

I 'm going to contact the hotel we stay at have them leave a path of rose petals, chilled champagne , candels and music of course...

A wedding is about romance, not poker or D&D, these all factor into the celebration of our love

Re: Groomsmen want to play dungeons and dragons on the wedding day!

Again I gotta say that D&D is completely different from golf or video games. The players are in another world, like seriously, and they cannot stop no matter what time it is!

The point that bothered me about this whole thing is not that hes playing a game on the most important day of his life, cause I would have no problem if he played poker, golf, etc. But D&D is different!!!! You ladies that dealt with this before know what I am talking about!!!!
