Let me preface this with some background, my cousin has been dating this guy for around 8 years. They break up and get back together at least 3 times a year to the point that it's a running joke. She didn't want to marry him, and then I got engaged. Two weeks later they were getting married, six months before we set our date.

So I am a BM for my cousin's wedding, and she's being one in mine. And I just got her dress in the mail today. I want to vomit it is so ugly. It's this T length dress that is too long for me (it actually comes to my ankles) in the most ugly color of pink with this really ugly green (that actually looks more like pea soup) ribbon from Alfred Angelo. And when I told the girl at the store that I needed a smaller size she kept insisting that 'it's Italian the sizes are small' and what a shocker, the dress is way too big. I am going to spend a fortune in alterations. And for what I spent on the dress, it really isn't that great of quality.

My mom, her mom, and my grandma all said that it was so important that I take my BM's opinion into count when selecting a dress, which I did, and we're getting something we all like. Meanwhile they never said anything to her and let her pick whatever she wanted. And I HATEHATEHATEHATE the dress with a passion.

She is having the wedding on a Friday in Las Vegas. It's the day after my brother's prom, so I have to fly in on a Thursday and miss his prom, plus two days of work. How selfish is it to have a destination wedding on a Friday!? And it's so obvious she doesn't even care about or want to get married. She picked out the dresses and then stopped caring (her mom has literally planned everything).

This wedding has been nothing but a pain in the @$$ and a drain on my wallet.

Ugh!!!

Here is the picture, obviously I am not happy. I shimied a bit to see what it would be like if I tried to dance and the whole top came down and exposed my breasts. I showed it to my mom and she said it may be to big to do anything with. This has been such a nightmare and the wedding is still a month away!

I understand that you hate the dress, but I am having a destination wedding on a friday and I do not think it is selfish at all. I think it is what we can afford.

I have been to a few destination weddings on Fridays and I never once thought they were selfish. Not everyone can afford to throw a wedding on a Saturday night.

It is selfish because our entire side of the family has a problem with it being on a Friday and asked her to switch the date (they aren't paying for anything and her mom who is even asked her to switch the date) and she refused because she liked the number of the date. We all have to take off a lot of time from work and/or school to go to the wedding, and for my mom and I, we will miss my brother's prom to go to the wedding. Plus if you add in the cost of having to get a plane ticket and a hotel room in Las Vegas when she knows we don't have the money. And a long list of other things.

Wait a minute, I just looked at the dress again, are those straps part of the dress or is that your bra sticking out from underneath?????

Those are the straps?

That's my bra sticking out. I didn't want to wear a strapless because then you would have been able to see even more of my chest!

OH man, so sorry!
You know, just get it altered to fit. Don't make it perfect and spend too much cause you OBVIOUSLY will never wear it again.

I had an ugly dress once and could have spent HUNDREDS on the alterations but just spent enough to make it fit and passable.

wowo, its way too big and no where near t-lngth on you. oh man. i don tknow what to say but sorry she's not being a gracious bride but you can still look graceful and pretty in the dress. ur pretty enough to shine through it

Oh boy that's a bad one too. And the color is really odd. Why don't brides take that into consideration when picking stuff out? My favorite dress that I found I didn't get because on just one of my BMs it made her look so pale she was like a corpse. I didn't want to do that to her.

I know you may get mad at me, but I actually don't think it is so bad. I actually think you really nice in it and that the color works for you! I know it isn't the best BM dress, it looks more like a dress someone would wear on a cruise! But I think you look very nice!

I'm actually not mad at you at all! I will definitely need some support like that when it comes time to wear the dress because I hate it so much.

I just hate the fact that it is so huge (I'm going to have to take it in 2-5 inches over every possible area) and I hate pink with a passion (which the bride knows), and then to pick that color pink is like a big slap in the face. I could have dealt with baby pink, or salmon, but that?

aww i know u feel horrible about the dress but with some alterations its not that bad.
you will look great in it...and there really isnt that much green i was picturing alot more green. i like it on you it really works with your coloring.

Haha, I guess I'm going to be busy that week getting lots of beauty treatments to clean myself up to rock the hideousness.

We should have a thread of all the bad bridemaid dresses we've had to wear and post pics of us in them.
