Grossest BM dress ever - Need to rant and vent **Update - Now with pic**

Let me preface this with some background, my cousin has been dating this guy for around 8 years. They break up and get back together at least 3 times a year to the point that it's a running joke. She didn't want to marry him, and then I got engaged. Two weeks later they were getting married, six months before we set our date.

So I am a BM for my cousin's wedding, and she's being one in mine. And I just got her dress in the mail today. I want to vomit it is so ugly. It's this T length dress that is too long for me (it actually comes to my ankles) in the most ugly color of pink with this really ugly green (that actually looks more like pea soup) ribbon from Alfred Angelo. And when I told the girl at the store that I needed a smaller size she kept insisting that 'it's Italian the sizes are small' and what a shocker, the dress is way too big. I am going to spend a fortune in alterations. And for what I spent on the dress, it really isn't that great of quality.

My mom, her mom, and my grandma all said that it was so important that I take my BM's opinion into count when selecting a dress, which I did, and we're getting something we all like. Meanwhile they never said anything to her and let her pick whatever she wanted. And I HATEHATEHATEHATE the dress with a passion.

She is having the wedding on a Friday in Las Vegas. It's the day after my brother's prom, so I have to fly in on a Thursday and miss his prom, plus two days of work. How selfish is it to have a destination wedding on a Friday!? And it's so obvious she doesn't even care about or want to get married. She picked out the dresses and then stopped caring (her mom has literally planned everything).

This wedding has been nothing but a pain in the @$$ and a drain on my wallet.

Ugh!!!

Here is the picture, obviously I am not happy. I shimied a bit to see what it would be like if I tried to dance and the whole top came down and exposed my breasts. I showed it to my mom and she said it may be to big to do anything with. This has been such a nightmare and the wedding is still a month away!

i guess I cant say s u c k s, I didnt know that was a bad word?

I think she just likes the dress and did not think at all how the rest of her BMs would feel about it. I know our other cousin will hate it too. She is not a pink person, and same goes with me too. Plus it's just a hideous shade of pink. Something my grandma would make a toilet seat out of.

i would love to see a picture!

i knew i wanted blue BM dresses but gave my BMs a lot of leeway in choosing their dress. i have had some doubts since i generally like strapless and we decided on a spaghetti strap dress but a few of my girls told me they feel more comfortable with a strap... and its more impt that they be comfortable. i can't wait to see them! part of me wants to have the straps chopped when they are altered but i wouldnt want them to feel uncomfortable so i'll have to see how they look.

in the end it should be the bride's decision, but i think its only right to take into consideration how the BMs feel too

And you know what . . . I hate to say it but my uncle had a destination wedding last year in Bermuda and it was on a Friday. And to top it all off I was the ONLY one who could not go b/c it was in June and I had to give my Regents exam that AFTERNOON!! (of course, it couldn't be morning - right?!?!)

I was sooooooo upset I wanted to cry everyday for the entire weekend and to top it off . . . people were actually upset with me b/c I could not get off of work!

That really *****! I'm sorry. She's only inviting about 50 people or so to the wedding and by having it on a Friday at least 5 people won't be able to come (including my brother and dad, and she's close to my dad as her dad is dead). Just a bad situation all around.

OMG I feel so bad for you... That is quite a dress! It makes you look like a child in her mom's clothes, it is so big.

I understand that you hate the dress, but I am having a destination wedding on a friday and I do not think it is selfish at all. I think it is what we can afford.

I have been to a few destination weddings on Fridays and I never once thought they were selfish. Not everyone can afford to throw a wedding on a Saturday night.
