Grrrrr to weight loss

Grrrrr to weight loss

So I was all gungho to start my new lifestyle plan (i can't call it diet) yesterday including a nice 1 mile walk to start on my way to a thinner and happier me. So what do I do instead of these thing? Made baked ziti and baked FH a cake cause last night was his first night of college and sat and watched TV shows I had DVRd months ago. In fact, think I've actually gained a couple of pounds since getting engaged. I'm such a saboteur i swear! Going home is always my downfall. I'll be good all day long and then make cornbread for no reason when I get home (love to bake).

Someone shoot me. Just looking at today as another day. I've cut out my morning coffee and donut for Special K bars and water so that's good. Doing salads for lunch this week. It's just that time when I get home....and now that FH is in school, forget about it!!!!! You'd think I'd take that time to work on myself. Nope! I'm too busy feeling sorry for myself cause I'm all lonely.

Ok, vent is over. Maybe posting this will be the kick in the a@@ I need to do this tonight. 1 mile. Gotta do 1 mile. FH charged my IPOD and everything for me over the weekend.

You so can lose the weight. I lost about 80 lbs - without WW or Jenny Craig or anything else. I understand your struggle, but you're the only one who can make that change. I'm here if you want to talk.

I have definitely gained weight since getting engaged I am my own worst enemy. Every Monday is a new day, but then I get sidetracked

I love food and tv. I need to be reprogrammed to love activity and vegetables.

Re: Grrrrr to weight loss

yes I too am a fat a s s. I want to lose weight so very bad but Im having such a hard time. I did do 10 minutes of one work out video and another 15 minutes of another. I'm trying to watch what I eat but I'm a bad girl and dont really like any veggies. I'm also a soda addict but I'm really trying to be good.

This morning I had a string cheese, single serving of frost flakes with fat free milk, a banana.

for lunch I'm going to have a lean cuisine.

I'm going to Disney on Oct 3. I told FH to leave the camera at home. I cant bear to see my fat a s s in any pictures. I'm very ashamed of how fat I've let myself become.

A few years back, I went nuts. I totally reprogrammed myself. Loved everything healthy, walked 5 to 6 miles a day. Wouldn't eat anything fast food.....i lost 98 lbs felt great, looked great. Got into a really bad relationship and within 2 to 3 years had gained the weight back plus some extra cause you can never just gain back what you lost. It's crazy. I'm an emotional eater. I've considered the lapband but surgery petrifies me. Could never do gastric bypass. Now that I'm truly into my 30's, I worry so much about my health. Don't want to die before my time.

I think what it is w/ me is like i've always been yo-yoing as far as i can remember! i get into the 'restriction' mode and then just grow so tired of it and kind of relapse. I need to find a happy medium so that i don't severely restrict which ultimately leads to a binge, and just live like a normal person! argh.

You don't have to give everything up. I lost that weight eating Burger King once a week.

Gotta get rid of the soda - that's a biggie.

They say diet soda isn't too good for you either, but definately better than regular soda. I used to go through numerous 2 liter bottles of regular soda in 1 day. Its a hard habit to break. I usually only have diet soda with meals now.

diet soda has no calories... but I think the sugar substitute in it makes you hungrier because the body thinks it's processing sugar when it isn't... or something. Pam (soontobemrsk) wrote a post about it, I'll see if I can bump it.

its soda!! it counts silly!!!
Bottles of water are actually cheaper than bottles/cans of soda, so think of it this way, by drinking water you are in turn saving money for your wedding!!! (if your someone who likes to have some kind of flavor in your drinks like me, try the True Lemon stuff...it comes in lemon, lime and orange flavors, virtually calorie free and gives the water a nice hint of flavor...its quite yummy and loaded with vitamin c, which is a plus)

One thing I do as part of my diet for breakfast is a smoothie that I make myself. I add 1 cup of fat free milk into a blender with a cup of fresh strawberries (or whatever fruit you like) and blend it up until it's like a shake. You get a good serving of milk (which helps you burn fat naturally) and serving of fruit. very filling too.

Just drink LOTS of water, stick to fresh fruits & veggies as much as possible, and get 2 servings of milk in each day and you'll be fine :)

You'd be surprised the amount of weight you can lose by knocking all soda (including diet) out of your regime. I lost 20 lbs a few years back just turning to water. It was amazing. And I definitely hear you on the restriction thing. I need that happy medium as well. i grow very tiresome of steamed chicken and veggies. It's so much easier to eat unhealthy because it's so much faster to make! When I lost all that weight, I spent a lot of money and a lot of time making and preparing foods. I ate quick and easy for breakfast and lunch (usually cereal and a healthy choice meal) but I always made a big dinner so I didn't feel cheated or left out. I was a whiz at creating awesome chicken dishes so I didn't feel cheated. The only thing I allowed myself once a week was pizza. There would have been killings if I didn't have my pizza. I gotta get back into that mindset that I had years ago. Can't believe I lost it.

I understand what you're going through. I can't get the last 20 lbs. off. I've been at a standstill for over a year now. But you have to believe you can do it. If I can do it, anyone can. Its all a mind thing. You already know you're an emotional eater (as am I), you have to recognize that and do something else when you feel like eating. I know its difficult.

Re: Grrrrr to weight loss

I lost 50 lbs with the help of WW after a hideous breakup just to prove I could do it. Kept it off until I met FH and then it started creeping back on... I guess since he didn't care I didn't care, but now it's just getting to be horrible.

We bought free weights over the weekend, so I'll start using those and cutting out soda.

My problem is I hate 'cold' meals (sandwiches, salads, etc.) I like all food to be cooked and hot. I don't mind lean cuisine or healthy choice, but those have so much sodium....

Bought a book....should actually read it. That would make sense. maybe I can talk to FH and tell him I need sex for emotional and health reasons so I don't binge.....think that would work?

I don't know if it would work - probably couldn't hurt though.

I have plenty of books if you want to borrow them. Haven't read one of them yet.

How much are you looking to lose?

Sex also burns calories... it's a win/win, Amanda! Go for it

Yeah, the sodium content is RIDICULOUS. Don't mind cold foods. What about cooking up meals and packaging them at the beginning of the week? it's such a pain but I found that helpful. Used to make a vat of turkey chili.
