So I was all gungho to start my new lifestyle plan (i can't call it diet) yesterday including a nice 1 mile walk to start on my way to a thinner and happier me. So what do I do instead of these thing? Made baked ziti and baked FH a cake cause last night was his first night of college and sat and watched TV shows I had DVRd months ago. In fact, think I've actually gained a couple of pounds since getting engaged. I'm such a saboteur i swear! Going home is always my downfall. I'll be good all day long and then make cornbread for no reason when I get home (love to bake).
Someone shoot me. Just looking at today as another day. I've cut out my morning coffee and donut for Special K bars and water so that's good. Doing salads for lunch this week. It's just that time when I get home....and now that FH is in school, forget about it!!!!! You'd think I'd take that time to work on myself. Nope! I'm too busy feeling sorry for myself cause I'm all lonely.
Ok, vent is over. Maybe posting this will be the kick in the a@@ I need to do this tonight. 1 mile. Gotta do 1 mile. FH charged my IPOD and everything for me over the weekend.

Im not too big on cooking during the week. Have mostly salads and chicken. I really should do the extra cooking on the weekend though. Its a good idea, in theory.

I have a really hard time. For me, I dont seem to lose any weight unless I really restrict. And even then its a very slow process. And It's hard to eat good when everyone around you is eating wonderful things.

I don't know if it would work - probably couldn't hurt though.
I have plenty of books if you want to borrow them. Haven't read one of them yet.
How much are you looking to lose?
I did the pounds thing, and it doesn't work for me. I have to go by clothing size. I want to lose 2 to 4 dress sizes by this time next year. I think it's totally doable.....just need to get off my fat a@@ and actually do something about it.
Just gotta do it and shut up about it. FH and I are always 'oh we're going to be so good' or 'oh this is it let's do it' but we don't. We both love to eat. He's gained a lot of weight since dating me cause I don't eat healthy. It's horrible. I gotta stop. Said when we moved into the house I was going to hit up the local produce market and go shopping every other day to keep fresh veggies and fruit and i was going to be the chicken and fish queen. Moved in 4 months ago....

Yeah. It is hard. Now that we live alone you'd think we'd find it easier but we started buying stuff my parents didn't stock in the house like jalapeno poppers and jamaican beef patties....it was bad. OMG we had ice cream every night.....we've definitely slowed down but it's still not good.
Know what you mean when you say your just sick of it all. Every time I gained some weight I swore that was it. I wasn't going to gain another pound. Now I look at pics of me and FH and I truly question his sanity for being someone my size. I'm taller and way fatter than him. I know he doesn't care, but I do. I've gained about 20 lbs over these past 3 years when i SWORE i'd lose. It's so hard.

Re: Grrrrr to weight loss
I can totally relate to all of this. About 5 years ago after breaking up with an on/off boyfriend of 6 years i decided i was going to lose weight. So between working two jobs and going to grad school full time, i was also going to the gym 5 days a week and went hardcore with my food-cut out all soda-drank nothing but water and went all healthy with food-kept this routine for about 1 year and lost about 50 pounds. And kind of stopped going to the gym but did outside exercise and kept up with some healthy eating.
Then i met FH and i stopped caring about eating so healthy and we were eating out just about every week and then after 3 1/2 years i put it all back on. but didn't really care and then one day i decided i was going to make the change. So i started eating better and lost 15 pds and then in April i joined WW and since then i have lost 37 pds. And it is definitely working, for me its one of the easiest things to follow

That's excellent. Each person is different. WW would probably work for me -but I'm not the type of person to weigh my food out or count points or whatnot. Sometimes, you just gotta believe!!!

Can you and FH walk together at night? That may be something that the 2 of you can do.
I'm taking an interest because I know that you can do it. Trust me - If I can do it, anyone can. All I used to do was eat and sit on my butt. I still do that - LOL, just not as much.
And when I tell you I understand, I really do.

Re: Grrrrr to weight loss
i found the only excercise that helped me to intially drop some weight was running . I used to not be able to run AT ALL.. i coudlnt even pass the 'mile under 12 minute' in school. Then i slowly started building myself up over time on the treadmill (walking first, then increasing) and eventually got myself running! I make sure to go on my treadmill in the morning before work because i know i sure as hell will be too tired to run when i get home!

Way to go Teri, that's awesome. I've done WW but like Barbara I have the issues with measuring. Feel so restricted. Turns me away from the plan. It's bad. I need something that can consume me other than food. Walking was my way of consuming my life. I gotta try it again. Just so embarrassed to walk the streets. FH tells me most people could care less and the eyes I feel on me are more than likely in my head, but you never know.

I lost 50 lbs with the help of WW after a hideous breakup just to prove I could do it. Kept it off until I met FH and then it started creeping back on... I guess since he didn't care I didn't care, but now it's just getting to be horrible.
We bought free weights over the weekend, so I'll start using those and cutting out soda.
My problem is I hate 'cold' meals (sandwiches, salads, etc.) I like all food to be cooked and hot. I don't mind lean cuisine or healthy choice, but those have so much sodium....
omg im like that too... i hate cold stuff lol i can eat chicken all day lol but hate sandwhiches also the sodium is nutz ur right its like they really over do i with the salt....

Amanda -
The heck with everyone else. If that's what you did before and it worked for you, do it. And when you lose the weight, you won't worry about the eyes being on you. Just do it!!! Who the heck cares who, if anyone, is watching you walk. That should be the furthest thing on your mind when you're walking. Get your Ipod, or whatever, pop it in and off you go.

I agree with Barb, don't worry about everyone else, just go for a walk, if its something that you enjoy doing then do it. I am very self conscience (at times) so i understand, but i have gotten to the point that if i feel good with going for a walk then that is what i am going to do and that is what you should do too

He's going to school now and we also have his son. You'd think we were killing him the last time we had him walk 1/4 mile. 'my legs hurt, my feet hurt, when are we going to get there'. Just gotta do it on my own.
Like the idea of getting up early and walking, but the thought of 5:30 morning walks in the winter is just icky.
Gotta stop with the excuses. I know.

Re: Grrrrr to weight loss
If i'm eating right and working out every day. I lose usually between .4 to .8 pounds per week. Its painfully slow and it takes me so long to get results that I usually just give up =(
