so we wanted a SMALL wedding - 150 people - but could not get the room we wanted for that minimum so we went with 175 - we made a draft list after we booked the RH and it looked like were probably going to be under or just make the minimum.....we are sending out STDs this week so we decided to go over the wedding list vs the std list - all this time we are adding people to the list because we think that we arent going to make the minimum of 175 - keep in mind that we rather be under and we do not want to go over minimum because a. we wanted to keep the wedding more intimate and b. because we dont want to pay extra for anything over 175 - we rather be under - at least that way we know how much its costing us.....so last night the list was at 268! and in the process of cutting we kept thinking of more people we wanted to add - we have no idea how this happened did this happen to anyone else?

Yeap..definitely happened to us.. but not to the extreme that it happened to you!!! 268!!!

Right now we're at 255...I know there are a few more we're missing!

and whats funny is there are 75 people to invite on my FH's side - thats just his family/parents not including his friends - and out of that 75 we know that 72 are guaranteed to come with my family its a little unpredictable but with his side everyone we invite is def going to be there - thats just how his family operates

Definetly!! We wanted about 150 people also. and we ended up inviting 240. And FH still invited a few extra people after the final count so it probably mor elike at 250-260. It gets crazy!!!

It happened to us too. We ended up having an invite list of 245 however, only 162 came! I dont know why , but we had ALOT of no's. And in reading some of the YES/NO threads it seems as if 30-40% no's is kinda normal. HTH

Our list was around 250 also. Now its at 216. I dont think all of those people will show - I want 150-180. I went throught the list and just cut people off - thats what you have to do. Im even inviting certain people who I know are not seriously dating anyone with no guest...b/c why should they just bring any old person to my wedding.

you know i just had the same thing happen, where do all those names disappear when we think we are under and reappear when you make the full list, it's like the guest list bermuda triangle

thats what i expect from my parents invite list - that most of them will say no - but as far as my FH's families side its guaranteed that the whole clan will be there

we are laughing about it - trying to keep good spirits - last night i told my mom that she could give me ALL of her cousins - which was another 25 people - now i have to tell her that instead of adding 25 people she needs to CUT 25 people so ironic - how did this happen to us

YUP!!! We have to guarentee 150 as well. At first we had about 155, so we figured we would have to get up to 175 because of no's. So we did.. Then it went up to 190... THEN 225!!! Then we did some drastic cuts and only invited people with guests if we knew they were with someone or if they wouldnt know anyone. So then we got down to 180... but of course its back up to 198!

Yes this totally happened to us but we had no choice we had to cut the list because we just couldn't afford to pay that much it was really really hard so we put the people that we had to cut on the B list and as we get some nos we will add some people on but not too many! We also had to ask our families to cut 5 couples/people from their list as well. It is the hardest and worst decision ever but it was either that or go into debt for the rest of our lives!

yea it happen to us we wanted 120 but after the list was made we're at 157 and the room only holds 150 max... we need to seriously cut or her NOs I really want 120 cause I dont want to pay for extra people

We were thinking no one will come so I booked for 100 (the room holds 168). Then we did the invite list two months later and 298 was the total. My problem is I'm from a big family, so is my mom and dad. So I told my FMIL to invite more of her family. That way it wouldn't look funny. Well FH family is 68 and the rest is mine 230. I trying to cut. RH told me if the RSVP list hits 150 and no one book the ballroom for my date she will give it to me for the same rate. I love my RH, hate that I to pay for more people. I feel your pain.

umm yes. we invited 402! and then we saw some old friends at a wedding a few weeks ago and ended up inviting 4 more people last week. haha.

happened to me too!

I needed a minium of 150, only want 150 anyway , guest list is 212 right now.

AND I only ordered 100 invites so now I have to DIY other invites to send to the people i don't think are going to come and who don't know the other people with the 1st set of invites

ive been messing around with the list all morning - right now we are at 217 - i think its ok if we get up to 225 because with the 20% that 'hopefully' respond NO it comes out to 180 which we can deal with......we were kind of hoping we would be under so we could get some CH upgrades i dont think thats going to happen anymore!
