Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Believe it or not, guess where I am going tonight with my FH? To an irish function at.......
MARS 2112!!!

How bizarre is that?

I have no clue why it's being held there. I think that some of the irish get sick of the 'irish pubs' and try variety. Plus all the irish pubs will be packed. Who would think to go to Mars 2112 on this day? LOL

FH may march with Tipperary County. His dad is from there. The function we are going to, not sure what it is for, might be for Kildare County. We were invited because the Mayor of Kildare town is a friend of FH and he is over here to march and attend some political functions. I might even meet some other irish politicans? Well see!

Tracy - that is a smart idea about the raisins. My dad has a different recipe (I don't know if he uses eggs?) but I'll tell him about the raisins.

Mars2112 is owned by an Irishman! So there's a little useless fact that is stuck in my head!!
What part of Tipperary is you FFIL from? (I'm sure I've asked that before)

Very easy!!

Here is my mothers recipe:

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups of buttermilk
1 1/4 cup of raisins (best way is soak raisins in water the night before makes them plump)
1 cup of sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoon of melted butter
2 teaspoons of baking powder
4 cups of Flour

Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a big bowl. Mix with your hands. cook @ 350 degrees for an hour When done wrap in dish towel & cool on it's side (I put it on the dish tray) this will make either 1 big loaf or 2 med size loafs.
