Rennassiance in Queens, or George Washington Manor?
At first we were going to rule out Gerorge Washington B/c of a rude BM @ Milleridge but now we're debating...
Can I pull off a black tie affair at either place?

Hi,
I got married at the Milleridge, and I was very pleased with the way it turned out. I think some of the spaces could work for black tie either there or at George Washington (we looked there also, but I didn't like the room they offered us for our small wedding).
My review was on The Bride's Review under this name:
There are also some photos in my album, though I haven't gotten around to rescanning them, so the sizing is off.
FM me if you have questions--I'm curious who the BM was that you dealt with.
you have FM

Im curious as to why a rude BM at the Milleridge would effect your decision for the GWM, they are two different buildings, with two different offices, and as far as I was told, they are now two completely separate business. Im hihly considering them, so I want to know the good the bad and the ugly!!
They are owned by the same family and I want someone to care at the place we book!! I manage a restaurant, and handel our private parties, I guess I just want the same care i put in to all the parties at my restaurant. I ensure that the evening goes along seemlessly and I calm the or the host neves as we lead up to the day, if need be. I am always concerned about booking the affairand that my client is happy, I felt as though the BM from Milleridge couldn't be less concerned w/ our wedding b/c we're small (under 150) and she was telling us that George Washington Manor would be more suited for us...
We live in Jericho We go to Milleridge Village, for the bread & Jam Shoppe and the other cute little places it's a place that's close to home & familiar, I was really excited about it and left being really dissapointed
When I went there the ladies in the office were very nice, and I asked them about the milleridge, and they told me that even though the same family owns both, they are two different office, with two different sets of staff, its not just one owner, there is an owner for GWM and an owner for Milleridge. They really seemed to care about us, Ive gone back a few times, and delt with different people and we really have not had a problem, even when we went to the Milleridge it was very nice. Im sorry you had such a hard time with them.

Well I looked at GW Manor and we actually wanted to have our wedding there at one point... The ladies who work there seemed nice and the place is very very quaint. Originally the room they wanted to give us for the cocktail hour was WAY too small for our guests, and we are having 125. The room literally seemed to fit about 50 at most... We expressed the concern and they agreed to let us use a different roo, but only because the wedding would have been in Nov or Jan..
We went to taste the food, and it was good, but I wasn't crazy about it. We also thought a lot about the ballroom and while it is beautiful, really thought that it would be too small for our guests. Also, FH did not like the view of the parking lot from the room...
It is a good option if you want a quaint wedding and are having a small wedding.
