has anyone doubted their gown choice?

has anyone doubted their gown choice?

i'm starting to have second thoughts on the wedding gown i ordered. i placed the order about a month ago. and people tell me not to look at other gowns, but there's still a little doubt in my mind that maybe this isn't the dress i wanted. has anyone else gone through this?

I thought I would (because I heard so many other people were experiencing this...), but I haven't.

Just remember - you chose that dress for a reason!! Maybe once you try it on again you'll remember why you loved it in the first place?

On the other hand, if you DON'T still feel that way, there's nothing wrong with changing your mind. Many brides on here have changed their mind. If you can afford to get a new dress and it would make you happy, go for it!

Yuppers! Ask the girls on the 07 boards, they'll tell you all about it That's how I ended up with 3 dresses

yes...i loved it and fought hard to get it into my price range...but in order to do that I had to order it from a store that didn't actually have the dress...so I didn't get to try it on and take pics after I ordered it...plus there are no pics online b/c its a limited edition dress. basically, I tried it on at one salon in January, finally managed to get it for $600 less in feb. and haven't seen it since (except for a few bad pics of it on another bride- she doesn't look bad, but the pics aren't great)

unfortunately, I don't have the time or money to order another dress...so I'm praying I LOVE it again when it comes in at the end of June.

Sorry- long story! lol

I love my gown, and I still love it. I have thought sometimes though that maybe I should have chosen a more casual style for my afternoon wedding. At first I thought I'd get a simpler lace gown with a sash, but I fell in love with a beaded satin gown. Part of me wonders if my gown is too 'evening-y' for a daytime wedding. But the wedding's in ten days, I'm not changing now! I do love the gown and it looks great on me. Just...eh, can't worry about it.

Try on the dress again.
I agree: there was a reason you stopped looking (our minds forget).

i know what you mean, even though i'm trying not to dwell on it. i ordered the first dress i loved, first i tried on and it looked great, and my mom and sister were wowed by it. even the woman at the dress shop. but there was a second contender (pics in my album) that was totally different. not what i had ever pictured myself in, but when i put it on i just loved it... my mom said it was beautiful but she didn't think my personality came through in it... so i buckled to peer pressure. I called the shop last week to see if it was too late to change my mind, even though the other dress is by the same maker, and they said yes, it's too late. so oh well, i def don't have the $ to buy a second one. i'm sure when it comes in and i start getting fitted, etc, i will be excited. but yea, it's tough sometimes........

HAHAHAHAHAHA Sorry, but that's a great questin. When I was little I wanted a strapless beaded gown that was big and princess like. When we got engaged I decided something more elegant and simple. I went 'just looking' found my little girl dream dress, and it fit right away!! We bought it on the spot from David's. Just looking turned into 1.5hrs w/dress, veil that I never wanted, head peice, shoes and purse bought. Well I started to freak and orderd a dress from......Ebay. I LOVE IT!!!! My mom found it and started crying because the david's dress was 'the dress'. Anyway Dav'd won and I will wear it in 9 days. It looks great, but isn't THE DRESS. My advice
Try the dress on again see what you think, see how you feel. You should look and FEEL like a bride. Then go try others on. You'll know if it's right for you!

Yep. I bought my dress after two weeks of looking rather impetuously. I loved it at the time but that was before I discovered Maggie Sottero a few months later and then I regretted it sorely. Its a lovely derss but the drama I am facing now with making it fit properly, has made me hate it. I know I will be unhappy with it on my wedding dsy, but such is life. Too late to order another new dress-already looked into it and too much extra money I do not have anyway. Least I am getting married and FH will there with me.

I was kind of rushed to buy my dress (only 6 month engagement) but I loved it at first sight. It was only at the first fitting that i had any doubts. SIlk is very unforgiving! I have lost 4 pounds though and I trust in my seamstress!

I ordered a custom made gown in January and by Feb I was having panic attacks that I was going to hate it. The nightmares actually caused me to buy a second dress... Now I have two that I love! One for the ceremony and one for the reception

Re: has anyone doubted their gown choice?

I've seen a lot of posts of girls doubting their decision. I don't think you are alone! I never doubted my decision, but Im also in a different boat cus Im wearing my grandmothers dress- I didn't have to go out and try on a bunch and buy one from a store.

Yes. I went through a period where I hated my dress. I couldn't look at pictures of it & everytime I thought about it I got upset. Looking at pictures of other dresses only made it worse. When my dress came in & I tried it on, I fell in love with it all over again.
