Have to share...I feel sad...

So, my Dad's Birthday is today and I thought that I can get through the day without shedding a tear...I kept my mind occupied at work and then I decided to come home and clean for a bit. I can't stop thinking about him. He passed away last year on July 4th. It was so unexpected...I really wish he will be there with me on my wedding day. I know I sound selfish saying this but, it's not good enough that he will be there in my heart. I want him really to be there. I miss him and I am very bummed out that I couldn't go to his grave and visit him for his Birthday. The weather was just too awful. I hope that I didn't bring anyone down reading this. Thanks for allowing me to share my feelings!

It's ok to feel sad today and have those feelings. Just remember he loves you and will be ther ein your heart on your weedding day!

I am so sorry!! I wish I could say something to make you feel better. I lost someone very close to me a few years ago and nothing anybody said made me feel better. I will keep you and your family in my prayers!! I hope you feel better !!

I am the same way.. you are NOT selfish.. I feel like such a bridezilla because I am forever breaking down & snapping at people.. My mom passed away 5 years ago and it still seems so unreal & new, yet it feels like forever since I saw her or heard her, hugged her last!! This time in your life is going to be tough.. every day is as you know- but big things like this make it even tougher.. You will make it through.. we all have each other!!

I am so sorry to hear that.... maybe you can carry his picture with you in your wedding or set up a table for his picture? I know a lot of people do that.

I bought a candle recently with his name on it and I am incorporating it into my Ceremony. It will be displayed near my Unity Candle....Thank you!

You are not being selfish, it is perfectly normal to wish that he were here with you to share in your special day. I lost both of my parents and wish that they could be there with me, but I know in my heart that they will be looking down on me smiling at my happiness. I think the memory candle is a very good idea. Maybe you can use something that belonged to your father as your something old. I am using my mothers rosary beads as my something old. Remember we are here for you.

I know how you feel. My Mom died 2 yrs ago, and planning a wedding without her was soooo painful. WHen she had been sick in the hospital (this is long before I even met FH), on and off for 2 yrs we would watch 'A wedding Story' on TLC, and she would get excited for my wedding......even though I didn't have a boyfriend at the time.
At one point during the wedding planning, we almost cancelled the whole thing b/c I was so upset about it.
And you know what? On my wedding day.....I swear.....she was there. I know it sounds corny, but I swear, she was there.

Ugh I'm so sorry. It's times like these that make it even harder to deal with a loss. It was weird cuz it hadn't hit me all that much that my Dad wouldn't be there (he passed away 3 years ago)...but then the other day I had a thought and it hit me like a wave. I didn't realize how emotional it was gonna be for me...but now I have an idea.

I'm doing a memory candle as well & having my siblings walk up the aisle first and light it in memory of my mom... I'm also doing the bouquet charms & a page in my program.. here's a pic
