Before getting engaged, did you and FH ever break up at any point while you were dating?
FH and I broke up in June 2007. He was still living with his whole family on Long Island, I was living in Brooklyn, and I was tired of making the trip and keeping the 'overnight bag' in my trunk. I started buying 2 of everything so that I could always have all of it at his house and my apartment. Eventually, I just got this feeling that 'it wasn't going anywhere' and I did what I really thought was best - I broke up with him and figured that if it was meant to be, we'd be together again. We were BOTH devastated. It was so hard being without him. After three weeks or so, I finally decided it was time to start getting out and having fun again so I went to the city with my girls. A guy asked for my number and I hesitantly gave it to him and decided, what the heck... why not see what's out there? In the midst of all of this, I was contemplating relocating to Philadelphia for work. While I was on my first date with that guy, FH called me (for the first time in 3 weeks!). I actually went to the bathroom (the new guy and I were at a bar) and took his call! Afterwards, I was so bent out of shape that I cut the date short and went home. That night, I told FH that I was going to relocate to Philly with work. That week, he started sending out resumes to firms in the Philly area. Three months later we were living in Philly. Four months after that, he proposed. I couldn't imagine life without him ever again!

Although I thought about it, it never happened we are getting married on our 9 year anniversary and haven't taken a break or broke up. He did hit a very rough patch about 2 years ago where we didn't talk to about 2 weeks but he would email me everyday...it was terrible it was the worst feeling in the world. I need to speak with him at least once a day!
FH find is easier to walk away when things get tough instead of talking it out, he has since never done it again...that was my straw that broke the camels back.
Never broke up and our relationship is better today than it was 8 years ago.
Nope.....we have our probs but it never got to that point...I cant see my life without him in it.

we broke up twice...once he broke up with me for like 2 days...then i broke up with him then found out i was preggo a few days later soooo that didnt last. BUT i think those little break ups made us much stronger b/c we both know we really need each other

we never broke up. our relationship moved very quickly. i moved in 5 months after we started dating. which for me was quick but we were happy so whatever.
pretty much the same except he moved in 3 months after we started dating....its one of those things that when you know, YOU KNOW.
and im a firm believer of if you break up, thats it. There was obviously a reason big enough for you to end it and who'd to say it cant happen again. But regardless...good luck to everyone!

nope and I would never threaten him either. My last bf it was a game. We'd break up, get back together, break up etc. It was extremely unhealthy! So glad to be out of that one

Ditto. After the last relationship of breaking up and getting back together 3 times over a 4 year period (including living together, getting pets, and an unofficial engagement), I said I would never allow myself to be in limbo land ever again.

i did too! but FH and I met, I was on the rebound we dated a few months and then broke up....but due to mutual friends were forced to see each other and we ended up becoming best friends and we were the 'psuedo-couple' everyone else was paired up and we always ended up being the fake couple......4 years after that with other BFs and GFs in between we got back together......and now we've been together for 4 next month........hes my everything we compliment each other so well........i'm so grateful we broke up though......he got to be my best friend, and i saw what i missed when i tried dating other guys it was a blessing in disguise!

We never broke up but we did have a shaky start. I was seeing another guy when fh and I met so it was messy. Once he was finally out of the picture things went full speed ahead with fh and I.

no, he's threatened a few times in the heat of the moment, but he usually ends up feeling like a jerk an hour or two later for saying it.

We never broke up. If we were to break up it had to be over something very serious (lies and cheating), and once that happens then there is no coming back.

FH and I weren't a 'couple' the summer we met so when he moved, we didn't 'break up' but we also didn't know what the future was going to hold. He told me one day that 'yes, he's looking down there (for someone)' and I couldn't stop him since I was never his official girlfriend to begin with. But... he didn't really have the desire to look for anyone and neither did I. 3 months later we were committed to each other. No breakups.

this is funny b/c FH and I were talking about this last night! We actually broke up twice
First time was over something stupid and then we were back together in less than 24 hrs!
The second time he tried give into temptation from a co-woker but then realized he couldnt... I was mad at him and broke it off... we were broken up for about a good 2 weeks....
Since then we have been inseperable and these two experiences made us grow closer......
We were engaged 3 years after the last 'break' and couldnt be happier
