Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

Ok, I've been to a few

LANDS END- (Sunday, 2003)- Best wedding I have been to! I couldn't believe the amount of food or how good it was and the ballroom was amazing! There had to be 200-250 people there and it was so spacious. The dance floor is so elegant and the sunset was amazing.

GURNEY'S- (Saturday, 2002)- Beautiful beach wedding. Cocktail hour was amazing on their outside deck overlooking the ocean. Food was good (I think) although it was such a great party because of Tommy Tunes that I don't remember the other details. Plenty of room for their party of about 125.

MEADOW CLUB- (Friday, 2000)- This was my brothers weding. They had their reception there, not overly impressed with the indoor reception room. Also, the ceremony started exactly on time (not necessarily a bad thing but most of family hadn't shown up yet cause they got stuck in traffic!!) Everything else was great, nice bridal room upstairs with balcony and tons of food.

Anyone have any reviews on Montauk Yacht Club???

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

DANFORDS October 2005 day wedding
upstairs room.

This was the couples second wedding. They did not want to go over the top. They had brunch and lunch buffet which was really awesome! A huge selection. As far as I know everyone loved the food. You did have to serve yourself but I didnt mind at all.

There really wasnt much service at this wedding. I dont know if its always that way. The only thing I did not like was.. the seating area is on one side of the room, the dance floor on the other. The dance floor is raised quite a few steps and I believe theres a little wall. It really stank because you could not see anything going on, like the first dance etc unless you went up to the dance floor and when everyone did that you were stuffed like sardines.

Beautiful view! Just gorgeous.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

Okay I have not been to THAT many weddings but here goes...

My first ever was at The Miller Place Inn (after it was renovated from what it was years ago). This was in July of 2002. The cocktail hour was good and the service was just okay. The room I felt was too small and the ceiling was very, very low. The room also had very gaudy, IMO, decor--like a lion on the wall with water coming out of it's mouth, odd to me b/c the decor of that room did not match the cottage, antique look of the Miller Place Inn at all. The main dinner was not too good, the fish I had smelled fishy and I did not want to eat it. We did have a good time though b/c her DJ was very good, sorry I don't remember the name of the DJ!

My second wedding was at Giorgio's which was a step up from the first so that was nice! My cousin got married there and I had been there for dinner two times before the wedding. The second time I went for dinner it was great but they seemed to have a bit of a fruit fly problem that made me worried for my cousin. I mean, it was bad, there were flies everywhere and in our food--that we had to return as a result. My bf at the time was appalled, being a restaurant manager. He complained and they were very nice about it, the staff seemed so frustrated themselves with the fact that no matter how hard they tried they could not control it. They stated that it was an on-going problem that they called professionals in about but whatever they were doing was not working. I feel they should have comp'd our meal but they did not, they just offered free dessert that we took but could not eat b/c it was just loaded with flies... it seems that it got worse the more the dinner went on. My bf at the time was so fed up he said, 'it's okay, I'll just pay and we'll leave, it's our anniversary, they are nice about it-I just don't think they know what to do.' (The first time we went there was for Valentine's Day, winter of course, and everything was fabulous.) The fly incident was in September, maybe it's a seasonal thing? But luckily there were NO flies in July at my cousin's wedding. The cocktail hour was GREAT, lots of good food. My main meal was chicken which was very dry so I did not eat it. It's a shame but that stuff happens sometimes. I was full from the CH so I didn't mind too much. The service was good, helpful and very friendly. At the end when everyone was saying goodbye a BAT flew in an open door and was flying around the main room which was a little freaky, lol. that's a funny 'guess what happened at my wedding' story for my cousin (she probably does not think it is funny at all-the way she is). All in all, it was a nice wedding for the place but I did not like a lot of my cousin's choices (like her music) which was very blah and boring so no one really danced and my bf at the time and I were very bored... but that has nothing to do with Giorgio's of course.

The third wedding I went to was at the Watermill. It was in October and it was VERY cold. I don't know why the BM allowed this but the B&G chose to have an outdoor cocktail hour at 7:30pm. Okay, pitch black and FREEZING. The chairs and tables are all stone and they were SO cold you couldn't even sit. I remember going into my bf and the time's car and waiting for it to be over with the heat on. IMO the BM should not have allowed that, it was the middle of October and a CH outside at night with no other back-up plan if the weather was too cold is just too risky. It wasn't even like we had a room and outside area, it was just outside! When we were about to head to the main room an entire bridal party cut through the CH, another bride and her BM's. During the main part the food was just okay. I didn't eat much at this wedding--- at either the CH (in the car b/c of cold) or the main meal b/c it just did not taste good unfortunately. The couple that got married were friends of my BF's at the time and their taste was not so good, not that that has anything to do with the place but ya know. The service was friendly that time but I went there this year for New Year's Eve and two people in particular were extremely rude to me and my FH with remarks that were not nice and not in a nice tone either. All in all, it was just another wedding but the CH being too cold was just terrible and with all the other weddings going on that you could see just put a damper on it for me.

The most recent wedding I went to was at The Westbury Manor (same owners as The Watermill--odd, but the food was outstanding at this wedding). I guess sometimes things just happen and it is hit or miss. The WManor did have the same problem as the Wmill with the other weddings going on--the staff did not watch to make sure that the wedding's stayed seperate and we had crashers... several people from other weddings came into my friend's wedding. I do have to say though that the MD was superb, I saw him catch everything and handle every detail. He was very good. The CH was nice, the room was a little warm because there were so many people, I think they shouldn't have let that many people in that room. The food was very, very good at the CH and I ate my entire main meal of stuffed shrimp that was EXCELLENT. The music was nice, this B&G had pretty good taste in things so we had a nice time. I just think if WManor and Wmill are going to have that many weddings going on at once they need to keep them seperate more... we should have never had crashers and the main area was just FLOODED with 4 different wedding's guests and at one point two brides and their BP, yikes!

All in all, that's my HONEST opinion. I always try to include the positive and negative so that future bride's can get a valid review.
Good Luck everyone!

I went to a tasting there for bride's that were considering it and my FH and my FBIL still talk about the filet mingon--they said it was outstanding and I had chicken coron bleu that was FANTASTIC. They gave us a ton of great food so you are in luck with that!!!

Hi, went to a wedding this weekend at Flowerfield. It was one of the nicest weddings I've ever been to! The cocktail room and the reception room looked so beautiful! The food was incredible, from start to finish - from the passed hors devoures (sp) to the stations to the apps to the main course - just wonderful. :) I don't have one negative thing to say about it - anyone having their wedding there can feel very confident that they'll have an amazing day!

YAY THANK GOD-- b/c i have never been to an affair there but i hear great things so i'm very happy!!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

I was in a wedding this past september at Larkfield Manor and the place was amazing, they were so attentive to us ( we had our server taking shot orders for us at the BP table instead of dinner orders

The place was huge, we were the only wedding there so we had the run of the whole place, the MD was with us the entire time and had drinks waiting for anyone ( at one point I think one of the guys gave FH a drink out to the dance floor!)

the only bad thing that happend was that they had menus on the tables, and half of the room had one menu and the other half had a different one, and then there were some randoms scattered amonst everyone, but it didnt matter cause the servers went around and asked what everyone wanted anyway.

I also went to a wedding at the Bourne Mansion in May and the place is drop dead gorgeous!!!! There was so much food I didnt know what to do and they had the whole place to ourselves. They didnt even have to bring in any decorations because there is just so much charm to it.

What I didnt like about it was the way that the band was set up in relations to the room and the acustics, you were not able to hear a lot . it sounded very muffled ( but then again they sat us in the very back, cause we were the loudy raudy group of friends from HS

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

I went to a wedding July 2004 at the Shoreham Country Club. The location was beautiful, it had a garden with a gazebo which is where they got married. The hall was average, nothing extraordinary. If you walked down some stairs you were right on the beach. The food was boring, and the waiters were horrible. Bartender kept making the drinks wrong. WAY too much alcohol in them. Their band was awesome, I need to find out the name. Patken did the photos which came out awesome.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

Geez. I've been to so many weddings in the last few years. Unfortunately I don't remember a lot of details about many of the weddings.

1. Crescent Beach Club - beautiful. It was July 5, 2002 - ...gorgeous afternoon. Ceremony by the sand. Good food, very spacious.

2. Stonebridge Country Club - I was a BM at this wedding in July 2003 (Saturday evening). Very nice place on a golf course. The bridal suite is large and the bathroom is great for a bride with a big dress! My only complaint is that it seemed a bit crowded during the cocktail hour. But the club was very nice otherwise.

3. Crest Hollow Country Club - a beautiful warm April afternoon 2004. Cocktail hour was outside near the pool...food was delicious. I didn't find anything special about the room the reception was in though. And there were so many other weddings going on at the same time. Definitely had a wedding factory feel to it that day. But still very nice.

4. Westbury Manor - Sunday evening June 2004, quite nice. But there were too many weddings going on that night...so there was a lot of bumping into other guests. The cocktail hour was nice, the reception was okay. I wasn't overly impressed though.

5. Chateau Briand - Thanksgiving day weekend - Sunday afternoon 2004. It was nice, I hate the location though. I was a BM at this wedding. I wasn't highly impressed - there's a bit of cheesyness to this place. Especially the room where the floor rises...but it was a fun wedding. I'm not into that contemporary architecture. Let me reiterate - it was a great wedding and she was the only bride that day.

I've been to other weddings out of state. So I won't review them...plus you can't compare them to LI weddings - so different!

Leanord's (As a guest)
I have a lot of problems with this place. I had never been there before and was really looking forward to going to a wedding there. The place itself was very clean, but a little bit gaudy for my taste.

To start, at the cocktail hour....I asked one of the two girls at the pasta stations what one of the pasta dishes was...she turned to the girl next to her and goes 'What is this called again?' To me, your staff should know the name of what they are serving. And if they don't, they shouldn't make it so obvious. Pretty much all the food at the cocktail hour, although not bad tasting, was cold.

The reception didn't get much better. The service was some of the most unprofessional I have ever seen. While I was up on the dance floor, a glass was broken right behind where i was sitting...instead of sweeping up all the pieces and shardes of glass, the girl simply picked up whatever big chunks she saw. So me and my FH kept finding pieces of glass under our feet the whole night.

A girl came out to bring us bottles of wine for the table, and proceeded to literally drop a bottle of red wine into the ice bucket from about a foot above the bucket. It crashed into the ice and with that she stormed away. Everyone at the table looked at each other in disbelief.

I could go on, but I'll just say one last thing, I've never been to a wedding where they didn't put a piece of wedding cake on each person's place setting. All they did was cut the cake and put all the pieces on a big table in the front of the room and not even bother to tell people it was there. I know this review is harsh, but I have read more than a few reviews of Leonard's that are less than favorable. I just thought people would want to know.

All in all, the food was fair and the place was fine...but the lack of professional service and complete disregard for courtesy by the wait staff really overshadowed anything good I could say about it.

This review was very harsh, I just had my wedding there and it was the complete opposite of what you have stated. The staff was terrific and the food was amazing everything was just out of this world. I know everyone has different opinions but this is hard to chew.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

I went to my cousins wedding at Flowerfields. All I have to say is that the food is OUTSTANDING!! They had the full seafood boat and the cocktail room was beautiful. The service was very good. They also had the vienesse hr which was amazing!!

I was in the bridal party and they had a seperate photo area where we were able to hang out, take pictures and have a couple of drinks. It was a sort of house - very cool. They shuttled us to the main hall.

Overall I would rate this place A+. My FH is still talking about the shrimp
