I was in a wedding this past september at Larkfield Manor and the place was amazing, they were so attentive to us ( we had our server taking shot orders for us at the BP table instead of dinner orders

The place was huge, we were the only wedding there so we had the run of the whole place, the MD was with us the entire time and had drinks waiting for anyone ( at one point I think one of the guys gave FH a drink out to the dance floor!)

the only bad thing that happend was that they had menus on the tables, and half of the room had one menu and the other half had a different one, and then there were some randoms scattered amonst everyone, but it didnt matter cause the servers went around and asked what everyone wanted anyway.

I also went to a wedding at the Bourne Mansion in May and the place is drop dead gorgeous!!!! There was so much food I didnt know what to do and they had the whole place to ourselves. They didnt even have to bring in any decorations because there is just so much charm to it.

What I didnt like about it was the way that the band was set up in relations to the room and the acustics, you were not able to hear a lot . it sounded very muffled ( but then again they sat us in the very back, cause we were the loudy raudy group of friends from HS

Thank you for your review of Larkfield - I've been waiting to hear some feedback

2. Stonebridge Country Club - I was a BM at this wedding in July 2003 (Saturday evening). Very nice place on a golf course. The bridal suite is large and the bathroom is great for a bride with a big dress! My only complaint is that it seemed a bit crowded during the cocktail hour. But the club was very nice otherwise.

Thanks for your review!! This is so nice to hear!!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

Great Idea!!!
Raphael Vineyard:
I went to a wedding at Raphael's Vineyard two summers ago in June. I was a BM in it. The place was beautiful in almost a rustic way, and the patio that overlooks the vineyard is perfect for summer weddings. The view of the fields is gorgeous for pictures. The food was great, and the wine they make there is awsome. Here's what the bride told me the other day: Her attendant was so good that she didn't even notice her! The bride said her glass was never empty, no one came to her w/ any problems, everything went smoothly! The bride is also a vegetarian, and when she sat down to eat, there was a sampling of everything being served, but they made a huge plate just for her of the vegetarian stuff. Raphael's was clean, and the service was top notch!

East Wind:
This past summer in August, I attended a wedding at East Wind. The ceremony was outside, in an area right off the front driveway. Here was what I experienced as a guest: We couldn't hear ANYTHING being said during almost the entire ceremony. This may have been a microphone problem, but mostly what I heard was cars passing by, Nextels beeping, and people talking on the driveway. But the site was gorgeous and filled w/ flowers, and I believe they had wrought-iron chairs. The food was very good. She had it in the brand new room in the hotel part. The bathrooms were huge and clean and the dance floor was also large. We went to her suite afterwards, which I think was also her bridal suite. It was really nice, and big enough to party in, which we did!

Good luck to all and happy planning!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

The Brownstone, Paterson NJ, June '05
It was abit chaotic when we arrived 'cus we didn't know where the wedding was, there were 2-3 going on at the same time and we saw the other bride in the lobby running up the stais before we saw the party we were going to... food was good, the place looks great. I wasnt too impressed with the band
though. They played a host of songs I would not want to hear on my own wedding day - chicken dance being one of 'em. Hehe...

Wasn't too impressed with the cocktail food. Liked the recepion food alot more.

Chateau La Mer, January '06
I remembered the food 'cus I didn't care too much for it. Thought the pasta was overcooked and one of the entrees was too salty. The ballroom is lovely, the DJ/band was way too loud, we could barely talk to the one next to us. The chocolate fountain is good though very congested and there was nothing left after 15 minutes. Everything went quickly and they never replenished the supply of goodies to dip into the chocolate. I also thought it was tacky watching the staff dump an entire jar of chocolate into the chocolate fountain. I think maybe it's better if they get it running then bring the whole chocolate fountain into the room.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

I don't know if I've ever seen a Westchester Country Club bride on here, but figured I'd post a review just in case:

Westchester Country Club, Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend 2005:

The place is absolutely gorgeous, but if you've booked it or looked at it, you already know that. Beautiful grounds, gorgeous golf course, the reception room has very elegant decor. The only problem was that it was under construction, so there was a ton of scaffolding up when you pulled onto the grounds. I don't think the bride knew about the construction when she booked.

The CH was held on a patio (partially covered) that overlooks the golf course. It was overall pretty good, but we thought the passed hors d'ouerves were less than fresh. They had california rolls and spicy tuna rolls passed during the CH and they looked a little sketchy. We also thought there could've been more passed hors d'ouerves because I think a waiter only came by 2 or 3 times while we were there. The stationary displays were very nice and tasty, but it didn't seem like they had someone maintaining the displays so they looked a little messy and un-appetizing towards the end of the CH. The stations were also shut down before the end of the CH which I thought was a little odd.

The food at the reception was delicious. We had some sort of seafood appetizer (a giant shrimp, grilled scallops, and a stone crab claw in a martini glass of cocktail sauce) that was AMAZING. The salad was a very fresh mix of field greens, pears, candied pecans, and goat cheese in a balsamic vinagrette. The entrees were either filet mignon or snapper filet. Everyone at our table had the filet, so I can't comment on the fish. The filet was unbelieveable! Everyone at the table commented on how theirs was cooked exaclty as they asked, and I think everyone cleaned (possibly licked ) their plate!

The cake (which I think came from an outside baker) was pretty dry, and no one really ate it because of the fondant icing (kind of waxy and gross although very pretty). There was a dessert as well which I can't remember too well, but I know I ate the entire thing (a few too many cocktails at that point). The only bad thing was that the waiters did not give you cake if you didn't eat your dessert. My FI left his dessert on the table because it was something custardy and he's lactose intolerant. He got up to dance, and they didn't give him cake when they came around...Very odd. He joked that he didn't get cake because he didn't finish his supper.

The room itself was kind of tight (I think she had 190 people) and the dance floor was definitely too small for that number of people. We love to dance, and the band (Vali) was great, but every time we got up to dance, we never made it for longer than 1 or 2 songs because it was so crowded. The other thing is that the bars are located outside where the cocktail hour had been held (which was fine because it was May and very nice out, but I don't know what they would do in the winter). The waiters were excellent about asking us if we wanted drinks while we were eating, but I did notice that a lot of people were hanging out outside waiting in line for drinks after the meal ended and the waiters were gone. I actually missed the cutting of the cake because I was outside getting a drink.

Overall it was a very lovely wedding, but for the $$$ it costs (it makes my eyes cross just thinking of what she spent), I would've expected a little better.

Any CLM weddings? Not too many reviews.. waht about the girls that went to the WOTY what did you think about it?

I went to a tasting there for bride's that were considering it and my FH and my FBIL still talk about the filet mingon--they said it was outstanding and I had chicken coron bleu that was FANTASTIC. They gave us a ton of great food so you are in luck with that!!!

hehe, i am in love with the chicken cordon blue there

Carlyle on the Green (Bethpage)
I had a great time at this wedding. Though the cocktail hour had tons of food, it was kind of tight and there were few places to sit. this was also a huge wedding and I think there were additional tables set up in other rooms we didn't even know about. The food was great (especially the mashed potato bar at the cocktail hour). The dancefloor is huge and everything was set up beautifully. I can't recall a single waiter being in the way, they just swished in and out. The side patio was also great for smokers. It was a nice break for others with over 250 people dancing throughout the reception. I was a bridesmaid, so I got a good look into the bridal suites, they were way to small for our large bridal party. However, the bridal attendant was great. Some dude spilt his entire glass of wine on me and she found me a blowdryer to clean it up.

Tribeca Rooftop (NYC)
One of the best weddings. The food was so amazing I booked with the same caterer (lovin Oven) for my own wedding. The cocktail hour was just amazin on the roof, looking over the city. The stairs walking into the reception were a bit of a challenge for the older folks though. the rest of the interior was lovely and we all danced the night away. oh, couldn't find the bathrooms though. hehe.

East Wind
It was far from where we all lived, that was a little bit of a challenge. The food was good, the place was nice. The ceremony area was really lovely, but the cars passing were a little distracting. I was also a bridesmaid for this wedding. It was one of the most beautil bridal suites I have seen thus far.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

November 2005, Sand Castle

Okay, so, the cocktail hour, dinner and vianeese hour were all AMAZING.

The food and service were absolutly fantastic.

The style of the room wasn't really my taste, but in my book service and food are the most important parts of the reception hall.

I also snuck into the bridal suite which was really nice - but cramped (they had a HUGE bridal party though). The other thing I didn't really like was that as we were all going upstairs to the cocktail hour, there was another bride getting pictures taken... It just kind of seemed like bad timing.

But overall I thought it was great. I couldn't believe that they actually came out and offered you seconds of the meal! Not that I could eat it... I was stuffed from the seafood boat, calamari, and other various foods at the cocktail hour.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

Carlyle On the Green -

The cocktail room and reception rooms were beautiful. Not impressive from the outside.

The service was great. There wasn't a bar in the main room so people kept going out to the bar which was a distance. Some never came back which is why I hate not having a bar in the room:) As I said the service was great, I always had a drink and they had top shelf liquor - everything!

The only negative was the food. Very poor selection and I couldn't find 1 thing that I liked at cocktail hour. My dinner was good but even the salad was bad IMHO. Again, just my opinion - Everyone else ate it and seemed to like it.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

I've been to a million weddings as well...Let's see...

Villa Lombardis A: awesome food, had a great time all around, until the party is over. Each time I've been there for a wedding I feel like they are 2 seconds away from literally pushing you out the door. When the wedding is over at 11, it's really over at 10:55. The bar even shut down early at both weddings I was at. That's the only thing I didn't like.

Oheka: A+++++ Awesome, perfect, no complaints.

Riviera: A: Great food, nice location but I would say more than 150 people in there and it's not a great set up b/c of the way the room is situated. and, if it rains, CH may be squished.

Crest Hollow: B Good food, a good amount of room so you aren't on top of other guests, nice size dancefloor. However, they need to better crowd control. My friend's wedding was next door to a bar mitzvah and there were kids running through her reception causing a scene and the maitre D was nowhere to be found.

Jericho Terrace: A++++

Milleridge Inn: A+++ especially for a holiday wedding! Beautiful!

It's important to note that Riviera is renovating the Cocktail Room and is expanding just a bit. So, I think the Cocktail Hour probably won't be so squished.

Awww.. don't worry! Some people don't pick Lombardi's on the Sound b/c they feel it is a little hard for guests to find off the main road. It is a hidden jewel!

I have never heard a bad thing about it!

I went to a wedding there a few years ago (when it was still the Port Jeff Country club and the facilities were nice and the food was great.

My only complaint was that they only had passed hor dorves (sorry, can't spell that word for the life of me) at the cocktail hour (which was outside) so only the people standing by the door got served.

My friend had a buffet dinner though and it was great!

I don't think that will happen with a sit-down dinner -- did you see their CH menu??
