I have been to Woodbury many times for weddings and the food is always good...especially the tartufo dessert! I was there this past summer....

Thanks so much for the feedback! That is exactly the type of stuff I'd like to hear since you can fix those types of problems.

Glen Cove Mansion - I have never been to a wedding there, but I considered having my wedding there - I absolutely loved the grounds it is really beautiful and all the guests can spend the night afterwards. Even though I did not book, I have blocked rooms here for my guests. Congrats!

YES! It was the best wedding we've ever been to aside from our own! :)

The food and place is exquisite. The lobster ravioli is a unique and delicious choice! We loved it...the CH was in this study type room. Just amazing.

Edited: Lobster ravioli was an appetizer. Only note: do not put more than 10 to a table...we were really tight.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

this is a good post!

North Ritz Club in Aug of 02....my sisters wedding. She was the 1st bride there once Villa Victor sold. Must say it was an amazing wedding! Food was great...ppl still talk about it!

Sherraton hotel Sept of 04...hotel itself was nice! The food was horrible! My family is still making comments on how bad it was...CH was pointless i heard they barely had food! (this is based on family members...i barely ate) Thank god bennigans was across the St...i know a few ppl went there after! LOL

Riveria June of 04...I really liked it. CH was outside on the water...a lil windy but thats what you get for having a waterfront wedding! The food was really very good...some ppl said the steak wasnt cooked enough but the chicken i had was great! I must say when i went back to look for my wedding i wasnt as impressed...but still all in all its a pretty place!

June of 05...Hamlet Willow Creek.....CH was ok...not lots of food at all...it was held in the foyer so it was very tight and no seating at all! No joke they had seats for maybe 30 ppl that day and there was prob close to 125-150 ppl there! There was no places to put dirty dishes and ppl were just throwing them all over....just mad a real mess! Dinner was decent...i didnt eat much b/c my friend doesnt know how to pick selections! haha...but what i did have was good for the most part!

2 weeks i have a wedding at astoria world manor...from what im hearing...ppl are telling me to go eat dinner b4 hand! So we arent expecting much!

July of this year my cousins wedding is in NYC at Tribeca Rooftop....i keep hearing its amazing so im getting excited!

Jan of 07....My wedding at the Watermill!! Review to follow in 7 1/2 months!!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

i love this thread so please help me keep it going! its so insightful!!
anyway please glen cove mansion is my #1 choice so far .. if ANYONE has reviews please FM me or post, im sooo intrigued!

here are my reviews:
Location: East Winds - Country Gardens
Date: March 17, 2006 - Friday evening, St. Patrick's Day!

Things I Liked:
-Food at dinner was great - they had 8 menu choices! I've never been to a wedding that had that many entree choices! Plus the maitre'd came around after the meal with seconds of everything for whoever wanted! Quality of the food was very good too.
-Grounds were lovely. B & G got some great pics since they had some time between church and reception at EW.

Things I Didn't Like:
-Cocktail hour was rather bland. Passing hor devoures were generic fried things. Shaffing dishes and displays were all typical stuff - although I dont know if this is more the B & G fault more than East Winds. I'm sure the food would have been a bit better if they got a little creative.
-The building the cocktail hour was in was too small for the nearly 200 guests in attendance.
-Parking in this area wasnt ideal. My FH got there mid-cocktail hour and had to park down a dark road cause the lot was full.
-Didnt love the set up of the country gardens room. The dance floor was at one end and all the tables were towards the back. It was so crowded walking back and forth I dont think the bride ever made it all the way in.

Im going back to east winds this weekend to the estate so ill update after that.

Location: North Ritz Club
Date: December 2003

Things I Liked:
-Food was excellent. Cocktail hour was tremendous, ice carvings, stations, raw bar, pasta station... everything I ate was superb.
-I dont remember what we had for dinner, but I do remember these fabulous cappucinos during dessert. My FH still talks about how good it was! I'm pretty sure thats what turned him on to cappucino, cause I dont remember him ever ordering it before then and now he orders it a lot more.
-Both CH room and ballroom were just beautiful. The wedding was during a fairly bad snowstorm, but the white outside just made the white and red inside look even more fabulous.

I really had no complaints about this place. It was a really nice wedding with a nice feel.

thats it for now, will edit if i think of more!

How long ago were you at Woodbury CC? One of the reason's we booked it was because the food was great both times we tasted. Now i'm worrying

Me and FH had a mini food tasting the day we booked and it was delicious. We're going to have a one with our parents next Friday to get the full experience. I'll let you know if I notice or taste anything weird . Also, FH's sister has had her Christmas party there a few times and she raved about the food so I'm not really worried.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

Giorgio's last year. It was really nice. The ceremony was outdoors. CH was reeeeeally good. There is a lot of room there and a great dance floor. The waitstaff, very nice and accomodating. They even brought out second entrees for people. (FH was hppy bc it was yummy!)

Fox Hollow 2 springs ago. It was in the room with the waterfall. Everything was exquisite, food, atmosphere, Bridal attendents, just lovely. The only complaint i have is that while we were there they began cleaning and setting up for the next wedding. I know the next bride deserves a gorgeous room, but about 75% of the guests were still there.

Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, gorgeous. That place is just too beautiful for words. The food was incredible!!!!!!

I went to a wedding at Flowerfield in 02 - I still have dreams about the incredible food.

Carlyle on the Green in 03 - amazing place - great service and great food.

Bronx Botanical Gardens 03 - I also have been there several times for black tie events. I was not too crazy about the mural on the wall in the main ballroom, but that's just my taste. The food and service were great, as were the grounds. The cocktail room was beautiful.
