Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
Reading past posts from the poster who commented on the Crest Hollow wedding, it seems she likes to guess what the bride paid per person. It's really nobody's business but the bride and groom.
Just remember, catering halls also give many different prices. My sister got married 4 years before me and actually paid more per person than I did 4 years later.

OMG. Sounds like a jealous, bitter bride on here.My sister ahd her wedding at CHCC. She paid almost 3x what you're quoting, if you really would like to know, and the place was awesome. it was high wedding season when she got married (mid may on a sat nite) and we didn't hear another party, run into another BP or anything and the service was great.
Hollie's sister's wedding looked nothing but beautiful to me and I can tell from first hand experience the food at CHCC is great.
You need to get over yourself.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on how they thought food, service, etc was at a wedding. But it's snide and rude to comment or guess on what people paid and relate it to things that YOU didn't like about the wedding.
You must have dog hearing - no one else heard music from another room during Hollie's speech.
I hope everyone at your wedding isn't so snide, picky and jealous.
I hope the groom realizes with friends like you...
Thank you. I know I certainly did not notice any music during my speech and I was able to deliver my speech without a problem. I am sure that my BIL will be happy to know the rude and unnecessary comments you made about his wedding.

i went to a very unique wedding on monday july 3rd at crest hollow.
the ceremony was a very unique ceremony on the beach in long beach! there were chairs and an aisle set up right on the beach, and all of the locals on the beach and boardwalk were watching and cheering. it was SO cute!! although it was like 90 degrees and sunny and humid so there were A LOT of people on the beach.
the reception was at crest hollow. CH food was great. i love the atmosphere around the pool and its too bad they cant have the whole reception there cause its so gorgeous and ambiant.
im not sure what room the reception was in, but it wasnt huge although it was well sized for the amount of people there ( i think about 180-200).
food at reception was good. interesting thing was that they only had a salad then main course and viennese. no appetizer in the middle. i thought that was kind of weak but in the long run youre already full so it doesnt matter all that much. it just seems like a rather long wait between salad and entree since salad is already on the table when you walk in. the entrees werent spectacular, the choices were between chicken, salmon, and prime rib. i had the chicken which was good. fried white meat breast with some bruschetta-like topping. tasty but not amazing. viennese was nice with a banana flambe station, cakes, ice cream bar, cannolis, zeppolis and what not.
as far as service, our waiter was really young, but he did a good enough job. service not spectacular, but nothing really to complain about. they dont go above and beyond, but by no means are they rude or innadequate either. basically you get what you pay for at $55 a person lol. but no complaints at all on that end.
actually my only complaint about crest hollow is that because there are so many affairs at one time, you can hear them all. for example, when the MOH was giving her toast you heard thumping in the background coming from the DJ in the room next door...basically if you are a bride thats worried about running into another bride in the bathroom..Crest Hollow IS NOT the place for you..but other than that there were really no complaints.
i was on the grooms side but i wouldnt be surprised if that bride is a LIW gal. it was so cute, since they got married on the beach they did a whole turquoise and khaki beach theme. it looked great! all little touches like the camera scavenger hunt, sand dollar place cards, even a faux palm trees. really cute overall.
when i was about 16 i visited crest hollow for a conference. always thought id get married there cause i love the ambiance around the pool. luckily i found that somewhere else cause i am NOT a 6 weddings at a time bride. but if you dont mind that, and you dont have a huge amount of $$ to spend per person, DEFINITELY check it out.
I just had my wedding there on June 10th & all I can say to this post is WHAT THE EFF? You really have some set posting about what someone paid per head-it is none of your business. But I can assure you that it wasn't 55.00 Also, there are other weddings going on, on my night there were 2 other than mine. I never saw another bride or even heard another wedding going on. I guess you had your Bell-tones turned all the way up. Furthermore, food is a personal preference & everyone raved about mine. So please
I hope that nobody like you comes to your wedding to tear apart your choices

just a suggestion for those who are related to this bride and groom.
As a former bride who ended up in MAJOR FAMILY DRAMA after my wedding, I can tell you from first hand experience: the bride and groom DO NOT want to know what this person said/posted.
I know it was rude and wrong. But, I promise you, by saying ANYTHING to your sister and BIL, you will only start trouble.
Believe me...you DON'T want to go there...you don't want to start drama for your sister!!!
Be the bigger person and keep that person's post to yourself.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
Just for the record, I had a handful of guests from my wedding say they thought our wedding cost AT LEAST $250/pp based on the amount and quality of the food served as well as the service. The people I work with, who I do not socialize with regularly and who are not familiar with my familiy's financial situation were under the impression that I come from a family of millionaires. I assure you that this is not the case as the benefactor for our wedding is a retired, elderly, disabled, widow..Some people made these assumptions based on the fact that it was a temple wedding and the cost of kosher food is most often higher than comparably served non-kosher foods. Well guess what. The food wasn't kosher b/c the temple was ultra reform. We paid less per person than many halls, because it was a non-kosher WINTER wedding. SOOOOO if we got what we paid for, we did rather well. Maybe we should give the temple some things back. What do you think?
(ETA - The point of my post is that one should never presume/assume what people paid for anything because more than likely, they are wrong. It is of no matter what people pay. People do what they can do and what they want to do.)
By the way, if any of you see Hollie around, ask her if she wants more DERMA! She loves it!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
I know many people were offended by the CH post but I would prefer to hear honest feedback. I personally would want to hear the negatives about my hall so I could try to eliminate those problems if possible on my wedding date. She definitely could have been more tactful about it though.
I don't think you should tell the bride and groom about her posting here. It would only cause unnecessary drama. Let them enjoy their honeymoon and newlywed life, not be angry/upset about one of their guests' opinion.
Nothing positive would come from it.

i agree w/lana on this. the point of this thread to to discuss food, decour, atmosphere, etc. not speculate on how much the bride and groom paid per person and then insult the b&g by inplying that $55 a head is cheap. some of us are paying for our own weddings and we got good deals. that does not make me cheap, imo, it makes me realistic.the statements made were rude and uncalled for....but i can't wait to hear about your wedding day

Wow!!!! I'm all for being honest about your hall experience as a guest but to be down right rude, offensive and presumptuous about the cost of the wedding
It was really uncalled for and I hope your guests will not be so inconsiderate when your wedding rolls around.

you know it seems like this chick doesnt want to fess up to her tacky comments.. but some people have no class... I would never have the balls to be soo specific about some of the details knowing that the bride is a LIW bride, and then on top to comment that she probably is...what the he$$ is wrong with you!! you should just be happy that you were invited to what seems like a beauitiful wedding. If you know that some places are not your 'type' ... who the hell cares... for those comments .. throw yourself into a wall

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
I am still relatively new to this site and have read this thread before. I thought the idea of this thread was to be honest and not be rude. What woodstock posted was just plain rude. To comment that you think this bride is probably on LIW is just rude. It shows that you wanted her to read it and that makes you mean. To make cheap digs at a bride is plain wrong. It shows that you're a mean spirited person. I hope you get what is coming to you...
To the bride that this is about:
Congratulations!!! I am sure you were a beautiful bride. I wish you all the love and happiness in the world!!!

Saralyn,First let me thank you for the nice things you said about my son and daughter-in-laws wedding.
I know you're very young, naive and totally inexperienced in designing weddings, but if you're going to critique something, please get your facts straight. The Starlight Room seats approximately 500 people. There are only 3 weddings at a time, and the brides never run into each other. After having an extensively lavish cocktail hour, there is no reason to have another appitizer and then a salad, (it is a total waste of money), and therefore it was combined. Yes, there was a long time between courses, as people were more interested in dancing than eating. Even though I'm very good friends with the owners, I couldn't even get a price of $55 a head.
I'm sorry you were not pleased with your meal. Actually yours was the only complaint I've ever heard about the food at Crest Hollow. I spoke with several people at the wedding and inquired about your complaints re: food and service, Again, you were the only one.
Truthfully Saralyn, my daughter-in-law is extremely upset with your lack of sensitivity, I feel you owe her an apology, and everyone else that's already planned an event there. It seems from the remarks that you upset quite a few people.

I love you Barbara! I am proud that you are my sister's MIL and that you consider John and me to be part of your family!
The love that Kristie and Steven share is quite unique. Most people should be so lucky to have that kind of love. To post rude and insensitive comments about my sister's wedding is unneccessary.
