Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
July 2003 – Saturday Evening WeddingPort Jefferson Country Club
I went to this wedding and enjoyed myself. I went under previous ownership as I now know they are owned by Villa Lombardi’s owners. I liked the way the ceremony was outside. The Cocktail hour food was amazing. The reception room was very nice and the food at the reception hour was incredibly good. I had the Stuffed Shrimp and they were unbelievable good. I really enjoyed this wedding. Everyone chose different choices for the dinner and we were all pleased. It was Great!!
September 2003 – Saturday Evening Wedding
Larkfield Manor
I enjoyed the cocktail hour food and the décor of the room. There was plenty of seating either inside or outside. The food at the reception hour was incredibly good and they even offered seconds. The staff was courteous, and even offered to get us drinks. We were in the smaller room and we had a great time. My friend used calla lilies centerpieces and the room looked beautiful with the chair covers and everything.
Fox Hollow – Saturday Evening
The place looked nice. The cocktail hour food was good but the reception food was not to the liking of many of us. I didn't even eat the reception hour food. I think perhaps it was the bride’s selection because I heard of people going to this place and raving about the food. Overall, it was a nice wedding and the staff was attentive and offered us drinks to bring to the table as well.
Watermill – Saturday Evening
They had courteous attendants directing the guests. The cocktail hour and reception food was good. The room which I don’t remember which one was was pretty. They conducted the affair in an impeccable manner.
Leonard’s – Saturday Evening – May 2003
The place is nice but when we got there it was a bit confusing as to which room the party we were going to was but we found our way. The cocktail hour and the reception food were good as well. The Viennese hour was in a different room, which was nice, and they had every sweet delicacy you can imagine. It was like from wall to wall. They had the most delicious chocolate dipped strawberries you can imagine. Yummy! :0)
I went to a wedding at Miller Place and TimberPoint CC but that was in late 2002 so I think that has been too long ago. I posted the review of a wedding that I went to Jericho Terrace this February 2004 already. I’m going to a wedding in June at the North Ritz Club and in September to the Thatched Cottage. I will post about it then. Future Brides for these catering places FM if you want me to notice anything in particular. I’d take pictures as well so later on I can post them with the bride’s permission of course. :0)
I will keep brainstorming for the other weddings’ places that I had been recently and will post as I remember them. :0)
And don’t forget to keep posting. :0)

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
Chateau La Mer, June 2000, Friday EveningI remember having a great time, and I really liked the food. The room was just beautiful, and I don't really remember any negatives about it. It was a REALLY long time ago though.
Temple Chaverim, Plainview, November 2002, Saturday Afternoon
This was a Bat Mitzvah, and should be reviewed as such. Very nice though - I loved the food (I believe the Caterers were the same as EMJC and OJC, but I could be wrong). The power went out twice, but that could've been due to the DJs. There was a heated tent that was outside, and even though it was November, I don't remember it being cold. Major plus for my Mom.

Chateau Briand, Feb 2004, Sunday Evening
Beautiful Cocktail hour. Great dinner. Made me very excited for my own wedding! (thanks, Laurie) My ONLY issue was that the staff tended to take plates away before we were finished. I will probably have a discussion about that with the staff when I go in for my meetings with them.

Cottage @ Millerage (Fri. April 03): A bit small for ceremony not enough food at c-tail hr. Almost none at all! Cool the way the room opened up. Wasnt impressed with food either.
Ladybug63 - do you have any idea how many people were there? The CH is a big concern of mine...

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
Villa Lombardi's- Sunday night , April 6, 2003
For some reason, I was not as impressed with the food on this night at VL. The pasta course smelled so foul that no one at my table ate it. My brother was the one who realized that the smell was the mix of basil and onion in the sauce. A few of us with weak stomachs almost got sick because it smelled like vomit. The service was nice, though, so we were okay with the rest of the evening
Thats weird... in the past i have heard only great things about Villa Lombardi's but recently know people that have bene there in the past year and said the food was NOT as good as the past

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
Great Thread...Okay I have been to a ton of weddings...
Floral Terrace (1996) Friday night and Saturday day
This place just openened and they did an amazing job....the dance floor is huge and the room is big too. They offered seconds which was very impressive.
Crest Hollow (1999) Sunday Day
My sisters wedding was here. They did a great job and the room was great....only issue was the band
Millridge (1998) Saturday Day
It was in the bigger room....this was my cousins wedding. The whole wedding was not very good...but the cocktail hour was great....there were too many people from the room and they actually had tables on the dance floor....the band is what ruined the wedding though...
Westbury Manor (2000,2003) Friday night and saturday night
They have always done a great job, I have gone to so many weddings here...I think 5. Most have bene in the big room but one was in the smaller room. The coctail hour in the summer months outside is amazing, but the one inside is awesome too. Food is okay, nothing spectacular. Great dance floor and outside area.
Leonards Saturday night(2000, 2002)
Cocktail hour is unbelievable here as is the food. I didn't like the fact that you saw about three brides while you were there...but otherwise they were really nice weddings.
Swan Club Friday night (2003)
This was a winter wedding and i never saw the grounds. Food was good, coctail hour room was a bit small and there were two levels. Dance floor was tiny as well. But very elegant.
and my biggest surprise...
Carltun in the Park (the one in Eisenhower Park) Saturday night 2002
The cocktail hour was absolutely beautiful. Only one wedding going on...but then at the reception it became a problem. We went to my table and i sat down and immediately jumped up...the seat cushion was soaking wet...when we finally got someone to come over they seemed to know right away why it was wet and got me a new chair...no big deal these things happen. I ordered the fish that was soooo raw that i really should not of been eating it...i threw up the next day all day long....and every time anyone at our table tried to order a drink they took a good 1/2 hour to get it to us....and then when they did twice they had the wrong order....We never told the bride because we knew how much she spent to have the wedding there....

I don’t but my guess is about 175 or so. Ceremony was about 100 people. They actually found chairs and seated pretty much everyone besides a few late comers in the rear. (no biggie). The reception was fine not cramped just the ceremony. I think the lack of food was the fault of the hosts not the place! I don’t think they felt they needed it all since dinner was just around the corner. Also there is no Valet which I wouldn’t have minded but it was raining and FI had to run through the rain twice.
As for food I've had better but it wasn’t bad . I had the chicken but I heard the meat was good. I heard the fish was not so good.
Overall I had a good time and liked the place.

Please also post if you think this thread is a great idea or not and if you got any useful information from it even if your catering facility is not listed yet. I forgot to add a poll but I tried but wasn't able to. I think this will give LIW an idea of how honest opinions are valued.

I've been to a wedding recently at Majestic Garden in Rocky Point. I thought the food was great. The service was wonderful! We had a great time. I think the grounds are pretty too...but it was a winter wedding when I went.

One I havent seen listed and my most recent wedding Oct-Sat night Harbour Club-Loved it, it was on the water, beautiful views, great staff, wonderful food, everything was perfect!! I think they can improve on the valet parking, the parking lot was a mess.
Great place though!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
Sat. night at the harbor club in huntington also. Very nice rooms, great view, and an amazing cocktail hour!Sat. Night at Captain Bills. Food was great, the cocktail hour was on a tented deck, the food was good but there were not enough seats so it was hard to eat and drink. The reception room was very nice. Overall, a great place.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
Milleridge Cottage - Sunday Night - The reception I think started at 7:30. The cottage was very pretty, I like how it seemed open with all of the windows. The cocktail hour seemed very cramped. So many of us were in the lobby where the bar was and there were not nearly enought seats...which is fine but when you are trying to eat you can't hold onto a drink. It was raining so no one could really go outside. When the room opened up it looked great. I don't really remember the food that much. The bar was great and didn't really have a line because they had enough bartenders which made things a lot easier.Lands End - Sunday Night
The outside is beautiful. We went when it was raining here as well. We were all outside so it was a little bit crowded from everyone getting in from the rain. The cocktail hour was great with so many food choices. They too had enough bartenders and a couple of different bar stations. The inside room is beautiful...I loved the high ceilings. This is really an amazing place with all of the water being seen when you are inside. The food during dinner was really amazing as well. The dance floor was big enough and I don't think any table felt left out because the room had a nice flow.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
Two more places that i forgot to mention...In 2003 I went to two places Fox Hollow and Verdis where they ran out of beer at the wedding....I have heard this has happened at Fox Hollow also at another wedding so make sure if you have drinkers coming that your hall knows this....It would suck if someone had to make a run to 7-11 to get more

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
I've been to two weddings this year:Crest Hollow Country Club (2/04-Fri. night) - Very Pretty and the food was yummy. The only thing I didn't like was that the bathroom was downstairs, but then again i'm lazy and my shoes hurt
Russo's on the Bay(3/04-Friday night) - So much fun! I didn't get to go to the CH because I was in the Wedding Party but FH loved it! (if we win the lotto he wants to have the wedding there.) The room was really nice and the food was great!
I have a wedding at the Coral House next month, so i'll post again then!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
Lets see, in the past year, I been to 3 weddings, 2 at Crest Hollow, one at VIP Country Club (New Rochelle).Crest Hollow October 2003 (Saturday Night) and November 2003 (Sunday Afternoon)- The grounds here are very pretty! I like the rooms they use here too. The selection and taste of the food at the cocktail hour was great. Meal was ok. Only one small issue I had with CHCC. I felt the waiters there were not especially cordial. One spilled a drink on my FH and did not say anything, to apologize or to offer to help somehow(Nov 2003 wedding, Oct 2003 was fine). I am sure this is not representative of all the waitstaff, but just to take note of this. . All and all I enjoyed the weddings there.
VIP Country Club March 2004 (Saturday Night)- Great cocktail hour. So much food! They had a stirfry which was cool. I was just surprised with some of the food they asked us to serve ourselves. I have no problem with that but I never seen anyone ask me to do that at a wedding. Dinner and dessert was great!!! The room is pretty and the waitstaff was very pleasant. It was dark when I was there but it has a nice view of the water.
Jan 2005 I am going to a wedding at Sea something? Sorry I can't remember the name, maybe OctGroom can help, its near his place.
