Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
Ok, well I'm kind of nervous about my wedding now. The reviews weren't that great. Oh well. Here are some of mine:May 2001: West Sayville Country Club: There wasn't much of a cocktail hour, but that could have been what the bride and groom opted for. I found the setup of the room kind of weird. The bride and groom were sitting right in front of the entrance to the dance floor, because the dance floor was almost like a seperate room. I really don't remember how the food was.
September 2001: Vineyard Caterers
The ceremony was beautiful. It was outside. Awesome cocktail hour. Everything was very nice about this wedding. They gave bottles of wine as their favors, which I thought was very appropriate for the place.
February 2003: Windows on the Lake
Very Pretty place, but it was too cold to enjoy the outdoor view of the lake. The food was awesome, but not nearly enough room at the CH. We were packed in like sardines.
May 2003: Russo's on the Bay (not a wedding, a formal) Honestly, the best food I have EVER had. My FI and I loved it, but it's way too expensive for our budget. I wish I could afford it. Oh well.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
Watermill - December 2004, Fri. nightThe Watermill always does a great job. That was my 3rd wedding there and the food and service is always wonderful.
Flowerfield - December 2004, Sun. night
Flowerfield is always amazing. This was our second time there and can never say enough good things about it. We would've had our wedding there but it was out of price range.
Floral Terrace - July 2002, Fri. night
The place was huge, the room was very big and very elaborate, and there was SO much food. I was very impressed.
Jericho Terrace - August, 2002, Sat. night
This was a nice wedding. There was just one thing that bothered me. I ordered the filet mignon and never got it. I waited while everyone ate and finally they came back and told me they ran out. So they brought me chicken instead, but i was very uncomfortable eating after everyone was finished and went off to dance.
Majestic Gardens - 2000, Sat. night
I didn't really love this place. The CH was too small to fit everyone so they had to set up 4 long tables outside the room for people to sit. It was uncomfortable.
John Anthony's - 2000, Sat. night
This was nice. I can't remember specific details one way or the other.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
Here's mine:Please don't be offended anyone. This is my opinion and we all have different ones.
Thatched Cottage Feb 04
For what they paid, they had a great wedding. The room was nice but way too small. The food was good but the drinks were terrible. I still think it was very reasonable and affordable
The Watermill Jan 03
Not one of my favorite places. Nicely decorated but I do not like the room downstairs. I don't hate it. The food was OK. The CH was better but it didn't seem like they had enough (but we were late). The service was very good.
Lands End Oct 02
One of my favorite and most memorable places. The food was delicious. The CH was way too tight but I heard they renovated it since. Service was great
Fox Hollow Jan 03 (Anniversary Party)
Food was good. Smaller room b/c it was a 60 people party. But they did a good job.
GWM Sept 03
Really pretty. I love the old look. But the food wasn't great and they splurged for the Surf and Turf. The viennese was terrible. I am rarely disappointed with those parts. The service was pretty bad too and I was freezing.
One thing I realized with this whole process was that unless I was instantly rich, I had to decide what issues were important to me. Even now I have complaints about my catering hall. But what I come out of most weddings is remembering how much fun I had.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
I've recently been to weddings at:East Wind: the cocktail hour was fabulous. overly abundant and excellent food. i can't comment on the service b/c I was in the bridal party and we hung out in the bridal suite during the cocktail party.. but we had our own room and it was really nicely set up- the service we had was really very good. the reception food was good- that butternut squash soup was sort of gross- but besides that I remember everything being pretty good- except the cake... but by the end of the night I think i was just annoyed for other reasons.
Crest Hollow- I thought it was OK- my memories of this wedding are sort of skewed b/c it was a no alcohol no dancing wedding (it was muslim) and it was BORING.. whatever music they did play was Indian- which is fine if you are Indian or like international music- I like it to a degree- but not for 5 hours. I remember being disappointed at the cocktail hour b/c they served mini franks... i HATE THOSE.. the main course was good too.. the viennese hour was UNREAL.. although the way they set it up and made their entrance was sort of dorky. It took up the dance floor- so if people were dancing, the last hour would have been wasted w. that huge table in the way... I didn't like the fact that there were about eight gazillion weddings going on.. the bathroom was full of teenagers from a bat mitzvah (annoying) and getting your car was a HASSEL as a lot of the events ended at the same time and there was a mega line.
Westbury Manor- I thought the cocktail hour was no great shakes b/c it was all chafing dishes of mediocre foods. the past hor's also i think included mini franks which drive me crazy. this wedding had 300 people- and the cocktail hour room was packed as well as the bars (the bride should have hired more bartenders though b/c they are a crazy heavy drinking crowd). The food was good and the service was also very good- no problem getting a drink at the table, etc.

Don't worry about it. I've heard more positive things about the Milleridge than negative. I've never heard the food criticized untill this thread.
Check the reviews section. There are plenty of posititive reviews.
Even before this thread, my FH brought up that th CH might be crowded, at our, but we are at the Carriage House & the CH is outside.

Miller Inn ( i think this is what it is called) August 2002- The cocktail hour was good but it was outside and there were not enough tables as there never are so nothing bad about it. The room had a nice flow to it. The food was not so good at dinner. I remember they had a beautiful staircase as you walked in a nice grounds outside but small.
Do you mean the Miller PLACE Inn or the Milleridge Inn?

Hi girls , its been a very long time since Ive been on here. I went to a wedding at the fox hollow and thought you guys might like to hear from a guest point of view.
ok well the place is beautiful and the service was great. the only dissapointments with the place were the holes in the linen napkins. The food was delicious, not enough though. If you plan on having more than 215 guest in the room with the garden view its too small. not sure of the name of the room its to the right of the briar fox room. There were 14 to a table very cramped and the tables were filled with so much stuff we didnt even see the bells or camaras on the table till the end of the night when they were cleaning up It was just so jammed. Even in the briar fox room for the cocktail not enough seats and nowhere to move. But all in all the place is beautiful and all Fox Hollow brides will love it.![]()

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
Fox Hollow:I went to a wedding there March 2003. The cocktail hour was inside and terribly crowded. The tables were long, and you could not get out of your sit because they were so close together. The bride couldnt walk around. The champagne that I was handed had lipstick on the glass already!
If the cocktail hour was outside I bet it would have been much better.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
I went to a wedding last month at Jericho Jewish Center. The food was excellent, and we had a wonderful time. My only complaint was that during the welcome portion, prior to the ceremony, it was WAY too crowded for the approximately 300 people attending the wedding. I could not get over to the bar to get champagne, and the waiters who were passing food around never made it to me. The cocktail hour was also crowded, and there were not enough tables. However, this was a HUGE wedding, so that had a great deal to do with it. The service during dinner was impeccable.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
Hi, went to a wedding this weekend at Flowerfield. It was one of the nicest weddings I've ever been to! The cocktail room and the reception room looked so beautiful! The food was incredible, from start to finish - from the passed hors devoures (sp) to the stations to the apps to the main course - just wonderful. :) I don't have one negative thing to say about it - anyone having their wedding there can feel very confident that they'll have an amazing day!
