Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
I have been to so many weddings, and Flowerfields was AMAZING. I am such a picky eater and that is the only wedding I remembered eating @ and enjoying it!! Actually, Sand Castle food was really great too!
i'll have to get in the others, sometime soon!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
June 03 (Sunday evening) East Meadow Jewish Center. The place is beautiful. Cocktail hour was amazing there was so much food and all different kinds! I didn't really eat my dinner because I was so full but when they brought out the viennese table I of course made room for dessert!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
I have been to sooo many weddings, too!Carltun on the Park Sept 2002, Oct 2002
The food at the Carltun is amazing. The seafood bar at the cocktail hour is my personal favorite. I also LOVE the way they passed around the sorbet on mini-ice cream cones as an intermezzo course. Very nice, classy touch! The after hours party is fun there too. Definitely recommend their house reggae band. Their bridal suite is one of the nicest I've been in!
Flowerfield (December 2003)
I am more of a 'gourmet / exotic' eater so in my opinion I LOVED the food here (FH would probably say he preferred the Carltun's though)... I missed the cocktail hour though, but from what I saw, it looked delicious and plentiful. The viennese hour here is awesome. I think I had 2 servings of the bananas foster! I would have loved to have my wedding here but it was booked for my date and a little out of my price range.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
North Hills Country Club - Oct. 2001I went to FSIL's wedding there and was stunned. Being a San Diego girl who had never been to a NY wedding before, my jawed dropped at all the food! And boy was it delicious! The cocktail hour was actually 1 1/2 hours and there were just mounds of food everywhere. The seafood bar was my favorite! Huge bowls of halved lobster tails, crab claws, giant prawns, etc. I loved the room where the cocktail hour was. The grounds were beautiful. The reception room was nice too. And dinner was delicious! I highly recommend it! :o)

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
Great thread! Here are the places I have been to recently:MILLERIDGE - Saturday afternoon
It was in the smaller room and they did a brunch. The ceremony was outside and it was very pretty. The food was ok. I did like the variety they had for a brunch. Service was good.
FOX HOLLOW - Friday night
Service was great and the food was very good. The room looked very nice. Really liked the CH.
WOODBURY COUNTRY CLUB - Friday night
CH food was fantastic! But the room was way too cramped and the line to get drinks, was way too long. The service was good otherwise. The dinner food was ok (we had just been to a wedding at Fox Hollow, which the meal was better). The cake was yuck.
LEONARDS - Saturday night
Excellent food - the CH was amazing. The room was beautifully setup. Didn't like the mobile bars and the line got a bit long - but they were very accomadating. Although there were other events going on - you would hardly know. When we got there we didn't see anyone else, not until we went upstairs for the reception. Once we were at the reception, you would have thought we had the whole place to ourselves.
TAPPEN HILL - Saturday
Simply gorgeous! Abigail Kirsch is fantastic. This is where my sister got married. Everything was lovely!
WINDOWS ON THE LAKE - Saturday
The view is soo pretty. Makes a great place for photos. The CH was ok, but way too crowded!! I felt like a sardine. The dinner was pretty good. The service was good too. The Venetian hour was incredible, but way too much food. I had a choc covered strawberry. I felt bad, hardly anything was touched.
CREST HOLLOW COUNTRY CLUB - Sunday
Everything was very nice from the service to the food. The room wasn't very 'pretty', but they had really beautiful flowers to dress itup some. My one major complaint was that you kept bumping into people form other weddings. At one point during the CH you could hear their music clearly. They didn't space out the parties appropriately.
CARLYLE - Friday night
One of the best weddings I went to. The CH was incredible, food was wonderful. It was a bit dark, but they had lots of candles which made it romantic. The room was beautiful. Service was great - they were always at your side getting you a drink, folding your napkin.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
WatermillI was in the BP so I didn't get to have the cocktail hour...cept for 5 minutes or so. The dinner was...eh. But that can probably be explained by the menu my cousin picked, and the fact I'm a cheeseburger kind of guy. Everything else was very nice. Waiters, bartenders, and the whole staff was nice and accomidating.
PJCC
This was the OLD PJCC before Lombardi's took it over, keep that in mind.
Again I was best man for my brother, so I didn't get to the cocktail hour. The food was good, the vianese dessert bar was excellent, and they got that thrown in for free. Why you ask? Because the f'ing roof was leaking all over!!!!!!!! They were doing roof work, and it was in a DOWN POUR. They hung plants by the leaks, but it barely helped as they soon overflowed. I think they were also refunded some money. I'm sure it's better now that lombardi's owns it.
Majestic Gardens
The food was GREAT....YUM. The place was very nice, I really liked the half-in half-out cocktail area. Staff were all nice, though I remember the dishes on the table a while. The hall was very nice looking as well. Definately a nice place.
Coral House
This was SOME time ago, at least 10 years. But I recently went to see it for my wedding. I can say that the food is still good (had tasting that day). The place over all I wasn't thrilled with. I could see how there would be a lot going on with a few brides at a time. The rooms are nice looking, but it just seemed like it could be chaotic.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
Smithtown Landing: Good prices and good food. The views from the Nissequogue House are beautiful, they have a new deck overlooking the river and their large room (separate building) was newly renovated with a dome ceiling, chandaliers and beautiful new bar.Timber Point (March 2004): The hall is beautiful and the view is spectacular. Too cold for an outdoor wedding in March, but the grounds would be perfect. The only thing I didn't like was that they had the ceremony on the dance floor and you could see the dinner set-up walking down the aisle and so could all the guests. Being in the BP, they were very attentive and organized. The CH was cramped, but lots of food and good drinks. The food was good and cake too!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
im not going to review chateau briand lol because im biased lol.russos on the bay
sept 2003
the food here is amazing i would have to say one of the best i have ever had at a wedding there were so many entrees choices at dinner. i felt like i was dining at a restaurant. the cocktail hour was smaller then some but the food was excellent. the staff were attentive and the reception room was beautiful. this was the best wedding i had ever attended and i have been to quite a few lol. i would have booked my wedding there in a second if they had any january 2004 dates left in the room i wanted.
creasant beach club
june 2002
great location i love that it is on the beach. you can take amazing pictures. the cocktail hour was great with plenty of food and huge shrimp display. the reception food was good and the service was pretty good although they made the drinks super week like they were watered down. i had a great time
the coral house
april 2004
the cocktail hour was very small but i think it was because of the bride and grooms budget. the reception food was good and the grounds are just beautiful. i was a little confused that wasnt anyone directing you in the correct direction for your party though. i also think that room that the reception was in was a little cramped for the size of the party. i think they could have used a bigger room. the wait staff were attentiive and the bartender made great cosmos lol.we had the greek salad and the penne vodka both were good and i had the chicken picatta which was kind of bland but the chateau briand was good and my dh enjoyed it. the dessert was ice cream sundaes which were okay and the wedding cake which my dh enjoyed.

Hi, went to a wedding this weekend at Flowerfield. It was one of the nicest weddings I've ever been to! The cocktail room and the reception room looked so beautiful! The food was incredible, from start to finish - from the passed hors devoures (sp) to the stations to the apps to the main course - just wonderful. :) I don't have one negative thing to say about it - anyone having their wedding there can feel very confident that they'll have an amazing day!![]()

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
Lets see so many weddings!Russo's on the Bay: Sept.2003- Sat.eve
CH food amazing. Dinner amazing. Desserts(VH) Amazing.
Fox Hollow: May 2003- Saturday day
Room was nice - it was in the conservatory (I think) it was a small wedding. CH was very good- boat of fresh seafood was great!
Cons: there were supposed to be frozen drinks and they weren't making them & they tried to stop serving drinks. (Believe me it wasn't a rowdy crowd & no one was driving..buses were rented)
Brentwood CC- May 2002- Grounds were beautiful & room was simple but beautiful.
CH was great - outside- good for pictures.
Metropolitan- Jan 04
Room was nice but didn't like the fact that it was two floors. Everyone was on the bottom floor it was kind of crowded. Food was good.
SandCastle- Aug 03 & Sept. 03
Food was very good CH & dinner. Big dance floor!
Going to Foxhollow next month again will repost!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
JERICHO TERRACE 2004i had a great time there although i think the floor was moving a little because a lot of people were dancing, we were in the upstairs room, the food was good, but two times someone at my table had there food taken away as they were eating it, room was beautiful, cocktail was amazing, i think they just needed a little more help on staff for a wedding that big (probably 200) .
went to a shower at DANFORDS and the only thing i can stress is that the staff was sooooooo nice, very helpful !
i was in a wedding at LEONARDS las summer and it was amazing, the food at the cocktail hour and reception was to die for the foom was beautiful, i loved the bridal sweet, no problem with the staff or anything, although the hems on all of our bridesmaid dresses fell down before we even were introduced into the reception, my aunt had to sit there and quickly hem them all up, fyi we got them at bridal reflections, but that doesnt mean anything
i am going to 5 weddings this june
LOUIS XVI
CHATEU BRIAND
GLEN ISLAND
BEACH CLUB ESTATE IN RONKONKOMA
VILLA LOMBARDI'S
let me know if anyone needs any info at the end of june !!!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?
I went to a wedding at North Ritz Club on Friday. I had a great time. Any of you who are getting married there have nothing to worry about. The couple had the reception there and they set up everything very beautifully. You can see the waterfall on the right side and everything was setup very tastefully and pretty. One thing that I noticed was that one of the chairs where I was tried to sit was dirty. So we moved up to another row of chairs. After the ceremony we proceeded to the Cocktail Hour. They had a bar setup outside. We all stopped to get drinks. The MaitreD was very nice and was trying to keep everything on schedule. He let us know that the CH was starting. At this wedding, they had about 100 guests. There was plenty of seating during the CH and everything was setup very nicely. The food at the CH was very tasty and delicious. They had pasta stations, which were very tasty, seafood salad or you were able to have this on a wrap that was also good. They had calamari that was really really good. This part I enjoyed the most. The hordeuvres (spelling?)were also good like sesame chicken that was very good as well. I really liked the service during the CH and the reception. The waistaff was very prompt in removing the empty plates, folding napkins and were very courteous. They had three selections for the food. FI and I had the chicken and I had the sea bass. FI said the food was good but the chicken a bit dry. Since I had seen some of the girls from here that are having their wedding there in the future complained about the cake in their posts, I was really looking forward to see this. But I didn’t get close enough and when they had the cake cutting, we were outside as they had a cigar hour and even though I don’t smoke, I was outside with the group that was sitting at my table. Overall, I liked the place. And the bathrooms were clean and very presentable. I’d say this is a very nice venue for a wedding and it is also a place where the staff was very friendly and very helpful in terms of doing their jobs.
