Just thought this would be helpful to some of the new brides.
BTW
I will be at Chateau La Mer, Timber Point, East Wind, Fox Hollow, Coral House and a place upstate this summer so I will re-post then.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?

No one's been a guest to my hall either.

I have never been to a wedding in NY-Long Island. Don't know anyone getting married until I got here (LIW).

The weddings I have been too I was young so it was a LOOOOOONG time ago.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?

Went to a wedding last night (Saturday) at Fox Hollow it was really good. Cocktail hour was outside very nice food was okay, nothing really stood out. The calamari was really good.

The room was beautiful, the sevice was okay but I don't think there was any table service for drinks. I got the perch(fish) it was really delicious...FH got the filet mignon it was okay.
There was another wedding going on at the same time but you would never know it there was no interaction with the other wedding. All and all it was a very good wedding!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?

I was at a wedding at the Fox Hollow last night too. I wonder if it was the same wedding!!! I agree, the cocktail hour was nice. I liked how it was outside, it was a good atmosphere. For dinner I had the chicken with asparagus and mozzerella cheese, it was very good. The room was very pretty and I agree that even though there was another wedding going on the same time, they did not interfere with each other. I had a fantastic time!!!!!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?

Has anyone been to a wedding at the George Washington Manor?

Yes and it was the best wedding I ever went to... I dont remember all the details b/c it was about 5 yrs ago but I remeber there was a full seafood cocktail hour with crab legs, lobster claws, shrimp, you name it it was their. The appitzer was a half of lobster. I dont remember the main course not even sure if we ate if after the coctail hr.

It wasnt just the food that made the wedding. WE were with a group of good friends, the band happended to be very good and a gay guy caught the garter and a lesiban with no underwear on caught the b-quet so there was a discussion on who was going to put the garter on who. great time

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?

On Long Island, I've been to weddings at:

Westbury Manor: Great place, fun wedding ... but the place gave away my sister's bridal room to another bride! Ceremony, which took place inside, was beautiful as well. A!

George Washington Manor: Excellent all around.

Millerage Cottage: Beautiful, A+

Vineyard Caterers: (my own, I'm biased) A+

Bellport Country Club: Beautiful place, A+

Metropolitan: Fun place, funky setup! A+

I'm going to Giorgios and Southampton Inn soon, so I'll repost my reviews of those soon!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?

One minor problem about the Metropolitan I forgot to mention: There was NOPLACE to sit for the cocktail hour! And it's so strange bc the bride whose wedding it was had recently complained at a NJ wedding we both went to about the same thing!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?

Been to 2 weddings in the past few weeks.

1st was at Majestic Gardens (Sat. night in June). I went to a wedding there about 4 years ago and didn't like it. But this time ti was different. I really enjoyed the wedding, the food, and everything. The grounds there are beautiful!

Tommy Tunes was the DJ and they totally reinforced our choice to use them at our own wedding! They're wonderful.

The 2nd wedding was at the Holiday Inn in Plainview (Sat. night in July). It was a very nice wedding, the food was great and so was the service. The only complaint in service were the 2 bartenders during the cocktail hour. Other than that, all was great.

We're off to the Inn at Longshore in Westport CT for the next wedding, and then East Wind the week after. Will post reviews soon!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?

Besides my wedding at the Woodbury Country Club (was excellent by the way!) I went to 2 other weddings this past year.

My maid of honor got married in September at John Anthony's on the Water and it was wonderful. The food (especially the cocktail hour) was awesome.

My husband's friend got married in November at Manor East and it was pretty nice. I didn't care much for the cocktail hour, but the dinner and everything else was very nice.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at?

I went to a wedding at East Wind recently. The place is beautiful but I have to say as far as the food, I would give it a 3 on a scale from 1 to 10. There were alot of people complaining about the quality of the food. The place was beautiful though, very big and the people that worked there were very good.

ETA...I went to another event at East Wind and it must have been the food I chose the first time because I would definitely say it was much better this time. Definitely great. As I said before the place is beautiful and the service is fantastic

I was at a wedding there this weekend (Estate) and before that in April (Inn) and the food was incredible. the Cocktail hour was amazing and the main course was delicious. Everyone raved about how good the food was. The run a tight ship at both places. You will get your money worth!!!
