HAVE YOU EVER????

Re: HAVE YOU EVER????

honestly im gonna get grilled for this but i don't blame them for not seeing everyone. It is their day and im sure just like we all want to enjoy it and relax they did too. This is not to say that they should ignore people but FH and I aren't planning on going to every table at all. We will greet guests at our CH and will have a great time dancing. I think its not nice to want to take money back because they didnt hang out with you! Especially with 300people ya know? (not that i think you are saying that at all barb..Im just throwing it out there.) I have been to a wedding where the bride and groom gave a thank you over the microphone and that was it. Different strokes for different folks i guess.

I would be a little annoyed at that. I always believe in connecting with your guests a bit when there is a party- big or small. I am making it a priority to go to each table one by one and say hello and thank everyone for coming. I think it's important to acknowledge your guests. I went to FH's cousin's wedding last year and they didn't even really make an attempt to see anyone which I thought was kind of rude.

yeah at least an attempt by seeing them trying to go around the tables. Or going over to ppl on the dancefloor or something.

I know its hard trust me. There was a time i wanted to scream lol. Not only is it hard to go to each table but on top of that we were interrupted MANY times doing so and then had to go back to it later. You get pulled in every direction its not even funny. We had the Dj come up to a couple of times before they did things to let us know. Maitre'd coming up to you for different reasons, then you will have ppl coming up to you, some want to take pics. One minute i was at a table saying hello, then i get pulled away bc we there was something we had to do or something i had to take care of, then someone would stop me to take a pic, and trying to dance in between. It gets VERY hectic and you barely get a second to even sit down and stop for a sec, the only time we did was in the beginning after first dance and then sitting while waiting for best man speech. Then i had to go to bridal suite quite a few times lol. You wont have a second to breathe but thats what the HM is for.

If i was invited and the b&g didnt even say hello at anytime to me, not even on the dance floor and didnt really acknowledge other guests either then i would think they just invited everybody for the gifts

I understand what you are saying but what if they invited everyone because they wanted them to be apart of their day? with that many guests its practically impossible to visit everyone ya know? Me personally I wouldnt care if a bride and groom didnt say hi to me. If they intentionally ignored us that is a different story! But i wouldnt feel like they invited me for my money.

Lol we actually just had a convo the other day about this at work! One woman was telling me how she didn’t go around to the tables at her wedding bc she just wanted to have a good time, and the other woman I worked with told her that was so tacky of her!

I’ll probably TRY to go to every table but if it ends up taking forever I’m just going to get to as many as I can!

i understand and yes its VERY hard, i had 275 so very close to it. But remember during planning how ppl get mad bc guests dont make an effort. Some have to travel FAR, and they spend money and then give you money, for some weddings a b&g expect some to take off of work. And some were there for more than just 1 event such as a shower, or e-party and bachelorette party. So the same effort we expect from guests, i think a guest would expect just a hello. I dont think you have to go to every table, if you go to CH then you can say hi there, you'll get to say hello to all of them or most of them and then the few you didnt get to say hello to at CH you can do inside during reception and wont take long at all.

Some people are VERY excited for you and to share your day with you, and do want to congratulate you personally. I know if i went to a wedding where i was excited for somebody i'd be a bit disappointed if i didnt get to personally congratulate them. Like i said i know its hard, i had close to 300 guests at my wedding so i know first hand what its like. If i see the couple making an effort but they just never get the chance to go to each table then thats different. But if i dont see the couple at CH and they dont go to any tables at reception then thats when i'll feel a bit disappointed.

I mean imagine having guests travel from other states and countries to be there for your wedding and not even getting a hello.

I think greeting guests at the CH is great! I'm thinking about doing that as well. We went to a diff wedding 2 weeks ago and thats what they did.
They said a quick hello and TY to everyone at the CH. At the reception they really got to enjoy it. Which I LOVED seeing!
What I'm saying is that they didn't even do that... they didn't come to the CH.

I would never ever take the money out!! But I did have a thought about it.
I don't know...maybe I'm not explaining myself correctly.

I just know that if I was having over 300 people at my wedding(by my choice) I would at least want to say hello and thank you. Just so no one felt like they weren't appreciated.

WOW! That's strange and rude of them.....doesn't matter how big or small your wedding is you should at least make an attempt of going around and thanking your guest or just a simple wave of acknowledgement!

BTW I never had this happen to us.

no its ok youre doing a good job. I think some ppl didnt realize from your post that it wasnt that they just didnt go around to the tables but you barely saw them period. Like you said, i dont care if you say hello to me at CH, at my table, on the dance floor or wherever. If you dont want to go around to the tables and say hello at CH instead, that is perfectly understandable. But you said you barely even saw the bride around which i think is weird. I remember that happening to a wedding i went to. She was gone for a long time, and i mean she wasnt at her own sweetheart table, she wasnt on the dancefloor and she wasnt at any table saying hello to guests, she wasnt in the room period. And yes brides do step out but she was gone a while.

Re: HAVE YOU EVER????

Okay this happened once at my cousins wedding and since we didn't LIKE the girl he married or her family, it was best, but they didn't come around to tables, didn't go to the cocktail hour, and when we all left, didn't even thank us for coming....it's very rude and disrespectful to the people who came to celebrate you....you don't even...basically...show up to your own party.....ugh!!! Such a pet peeve of mine...we're having around 150 ppl at the wedding and we both said, we're going to the cocktail hour and making time to see EVERYONE..... Okay rant over!!! I feel you Barbara, it's so unnecessary.....

Re: HAVE YOU EVER????

I can understand a little but I mean if you have to take an hour to walk around I would rather have used an hour that way then not saying hello to all my guests...of course your not gonna stand there and have a full conversation but atleast say hello and just let them know you thank them for coming. I think they would all appreciate that. And if you cant do that then make an announcement when the best man is giving his speak, that way you get it out of the way and you said hello and thank everyone at once :)

Honestly, i dont see what the discussion is. I mean its your wedding & you have invited people who are happily there to enjoy your day with you & give a generous gift & you cant even say Thank you or even just a hello? Come on. I mean even if you took the mic & said thank you to everyone at least as a guest in someway you were acknowledged. Thats all people want. Wether there is 10 people or ten thousand.

Re: HAVE YOU EVER????

Okay, I might not be well liked after this comment but whatever. Why didn't you go to the ceremony to see the bride and groom? The whole point of the day is to celebrate the ceremony that took place that married the couple. If people didn't go out of their way to see me get married, I dont think I'd go out of my way to greet them at the party.

dont know if you are referencing but i definitely mentioned doing the mic thing in the first place...

also ang i totally agree..you are celebrating the marriage (ceremony) not the food and reception hall!

its a good point and i guess depends on the whole situation.

Recently i had 2 weddings in the same weekend, one sept 5th and the other sept 6th, one on friday and the other saturday. Friday one i was a bm so was there. Saturday, i wanted to attend the ceremony. But the wedding on friday was in Staten island, we had to get a hotel room bc i had to be there from early then take pics so made more sense and dh could hang out in the room while i did this. Plus we thought it was best to stay in SI rather than drive home, plus the bridal party and b&g had an after party. We were up very late. On saturday the 6th was the day of hurrican hannah, when we woke up and checked out it was horrible out, so much traffic. The ceremony was at 2:30pm in hicksville, long island. We were in staten island, still had to go home which is in queens to change and we ran so late that we werent able to make it.

sometimes there are good excuses. I have a friend going to a wedding about 6 hours away and knows she might not make the ceremony, i dont think they can say anything about it.

Sometimes a person is working and really cant take off of work.

also you shouldnt get mad at OP's post. It wasnt JUST that she didnt say hello but if you look she said she doesnt even know what the bride looked like or what dress she wore. So i think thats what most of us thought was weird, to not even see the bride around ya know. So it wasnt like she said, i didnt get to personally talk to her but shes also saying she didnt see her at the wedding
