I initially budgeted $15K for the wedding because I am paying for it myself, but I really underestimated how much flowers, a DJ and photography would cost... and I didn't even factor in videography, which we recently decided to do. So now my budget is up to $20K and it is going to be really close (and I am not including my dress, hair and makeup because I consider that personal)! We are only having 75 guests, which helped to keep the numbers down, but photography costs what it costs, no matter if you have 75 people or 300 people.

Re: Have you totally gone over your budget?
We are over budget but we tried to bargain with our vendors. Our RH will be the most money because we're having sooo many people. But you only get married once and i wanted my wedding to be a certain way so i thought it was okay for us to go over budget.

my parents are paying for it and havent really set a budget.. but realistically were trying to keep it under $30,000 not including the honeymoon. so far so good.

We haven't booked a lot but I plan on staying within a budget of $30,000. I even put a little $1000 misc. fund into the budget to cover any overages that might occur.
Right now I am only 1k over budget, but that doesnt include my honeymoon or rings!!!

Re: Have you totally gone over your budget?
dont get me started with budget! we wanted to keep it under $50K but at this point it looks like we will be 10-15k over that we are also expecting 200-220 people ( that helps justify the huge budget, at least in my eyes) AT this point I feel like we shoul dhave just did a destination wedding and bought a house instead

we never really set a budget, dont get me wrong though, its not like i can go and spend 20k on flowers, but we're basically going with the flow and if the price we get seems reasonable then we book.

This is basically what we are doing. My parents are paying for the recpetion but we are footing the bill for the vendors. If the price sounds ok, we book. We are reasonable people I think.

A bit, but if you change the budget, then you're not over it anymore . . . .

We've been really good... we overestimated what things would cost!

Re: Have you totally gone over your budget?
When we go over on a vendor - I just increase - not the best approach!
I wanted a strict budget but FH advised me against it. He keeps telling me I work hard and I should have the wedding I want (within limits of course).
In the end we will be over what i hoped we would stay at which was a high budget but we have also cut down on things we spend money on and now cover 1 rent instead of 2 so it will all even out!

Re: Have you totally gone over your budget?
I think we're doing okay... But i'd like the guest list to go down to save a bit more on the hall! I dont anticipate going over and if im gettin close, i'll cut corners.... but i think we should be okay! ask me again in about a year from now

From the beginning we said we'd like to stay around 20k, and def, under 25k including honeymoon. I set a budget for each vendor and so far I went a little over on the hall and right on target with photography (which wasn't fair because I based my budget on the photographers quote lolz) but so far we're pretty much on track because I lowered other vendors to compensate
