Having A Child

Re: Having A Child

I must repeat, untill somone is IN THE SHOES OF THOSE TTC WITH ANY SORT OF FERTILITY ISSUE, you do not know how we feel, how we want just to give birth to a healthy child, and ladies, we WILL!
As for me, I do know! And I can ONLY imagine what woman like Lisa and MichelleW feel

I have given more blood in the past few months than in my entire life. My arms are black & blue from so many blood tests.........I don't know if you could tell, but I am really pissed at this whole situation and I am trying to refrain myself from going further here and have been for weeks.

Kudos to you MichelleW once again for speaking up!

MichelleW: Sometimes you write exactly what I'm feeling! Being in a similar position I feel the same exact way.

And I also don't mean this as a bashing to anyone else -- I haven't been in your shoes either dealing with a surgical delivery -- or any delivery at all.

We all dream of the way we want our life to be; our weddings, having families, etc. We all don't get to live out those dreams exactly how we envisioned them to be. Some of us might never get to live out the dreams at all. There are certain things in life that we have NO control over and I think all we can do is be thankful for the blessings which we do have.

It's difficult to be someone dealing with a fertility situation and hear someone say they feel cheated when they've had to have a C-section when we're just trying to get PG to begin with. But I'm sure those that had to go through something like an involuntary C-Section feel hurt when they hear others talk about their more 'natural' birth experiences.

I'm thankful that we have a community of other ladies experiencing the same difficulties and joys in our life that we can share our thoughts, feeling and frustrations with.

So thank you for sharing.

First time ever a post has made me so emotional. I hope to TTC very soon and I find ALL viewpoints extremeley helpful and informative. I have had friends who have fertility issues and it hurts me to see them but I also know people like Michele31. I try and sympathize and learn from BOTH. I send hugs to ALL women on these boards and thank you for your honesty and information.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I also think that feeling 'cheated' is not something a new Mother WANTS to feel. It's something she cannot HELP but feel. Same thing as the frustration of TTC and fertility issues I think. I agree with Curly that we can all learn from each other and above all, remember that EVERYONE's feelings are Valid. I think it's great that we can share our feelings here with one another and support each other through the hard times.

Re: Having A Child

A birth is a UNIQUE PERSONAL experince, no 2 are alike and no one will have exactly the same story to share

I feel we are all supportive of each other and respect each other's thoughts, emotions and experiences.

I do however feel the word CHEATED is a bit severe. CHEATED is when you carry your angel for nine months and it God forbid does not survive or when you endure shots and procedures to try to keep the pregnancy viable and wind up loosing it anyway ..That is CHEATED

Re: Having A Child

I second that AMEN....!!!!!
That hit home for me Michelle, after having Fibroid surgery to finally GET pregnant, having an emergency cerclage put in at 5 months.

Complete bedrest for the entire pregnancy-
Doctor visits every week down to every two weeks, Blood work and needles like you would not believe.

An emergency Amnio reduction

And god FORBID, my little Angel didn't make it after that- that is what I call CHEATED.

I had her c-section and I would go through the entire ordeal again just to have this precious little girl, they could of knocked me out cold to have her and I WOULDN'T HAVE CARED I just wanted her to be okay.

My heart goes out to all of you.

I have not TTC'D yet because I am not ready, but when I do all I hope for is a healthy and successful pregnancy.

I am so so very sorry about the TTCers who have yet to do so- baby dust to you all.

Hugs to Michele31 as well. I know many may not agree with her views and her choice of words, but I read her posts throughout her pregnancy- she went throught ALOT- she took every precaution, she did her research, she was so well prepared to have a natural birth, and when that did not happen -she was disappointed. I can totally see her point of view.

Not taking sides here at ALL- as I said my heart goes out to those TTC.

Re: Having A Child

This thread brought tears to my eyes for so many reasons. I am fortunate enough to have had my children already, but my heart goes out to all of you who are TTC. Please know that each of you are in my thoughts every day hoping to hear the good news with you.

To those who have c-sections and feel disappointed or cheated out of the birth experience because they did not have a vaginal birth, while I do not claim to understand since I haven't been there, I do sympathize. I too think that 'cheated' is a bit too strong of a word, but everyone is entitled to their feelings and if that is the way that you feel, I respect those feelings and your right to share them here. I'm sure you don't want to hear it, but trust me, in time it will not matter to you one way or another how you gave birth. For that matter there will undoubtedly be days when you wish you hadn't given birth at all (spoken with the voice of experience). In the end you will be grateful for the opportunity to be a parent and the how won't make difference.
