Hawaii
I'd actaully recommend Oahu if it's your first time and you only go to one island.. I think it's the best of both worlds. Waikiki and Honolulu have great restuarants, shopping, and nightlife. And just to name a few but the north shore, lanakai beach, weimea perserve, hanauoma bay, diamonds head, are all absolutely breathe-taking and pure Hawaii. We didn't even care to see Pearl Harbor when we visited lol. We are both 'city mice' though. I loved being able to walk to the beach during the day and than get dressed up and walk to BLT Steak at night. But it really depends on what you're looking for. I would research them all. Check out the Frommer's Books or Go Hawaii series they will give you an idea of highlights of each island.

Hawaii
Thank you everyone, and I will definitely check out Frommers and Go Hawaii. I know I'd probably like Kauai, but FH will definitely like Oahu. He's in the nightlife industry so he needs to be able to get up and go. We are also going to do Maui. We've decided the Fairmont in Maui and Outrigger Waikiki in Oahu. Does anyone have any suggestions for restaurants, excursions? I would definitely like to do a Luau, we are going to do the Road to Hana in Maui and Pearl Harbor in Oahu (my grandfather was stationed there during WWII.) What's diamond head like?
Thank you all!!

For anyone who's been to Oahu, Maui and Kauai - Originally we were going to go to all three for the honeymoon, but FH thinks it's too much traveling in a short time so we are going to do Oahu and Maui only. I feel like I'm missing out on Kauai, but he thinks 'they're all the same'. I know that's not true, but he means either way we'll be in the resort relaxing most of the time anyway. Any opinions?
Me and my husband did all 3 for our Honeymoon. We both loved exploring all 3 islands. We ended up renting cars at each island and did a lot of hiking and excursions. I feel like we did a lot and it may have been exhausting, but that is only because we did so much. We stayed in Hawaii for 12 days and if we the travel from one island to the next wouldn't stop me from doing it all over again. If you are looking for a more relaxed time and dont want to go out as much then maybe you should consider doing only the 2 though. Oahu is the most outgoing island. Kauai is very mellow and Maui is in the middle. Happy planning!!
