Hawaii Honeymoon Help
Hi ladies! We are looking to go to Hawaii in July 2016 for our honeymoon. Does anyone have any recommendations: islands to visit, hotels, excursions or things we must do, companies to use etc.
Thanks so much!

Hawaii Honeymoon Help
We are going July 2015 :) We are going to Kauai, Oahu, and the Big Island. We picked these islands because we are a part of Hilton Grand Vacations club and that's where we were able to get hotels. From what I learned, Kauai is very lush and laid back, Oahu is more of a city, and the Big Island is more adventurous/rugged. We based our trip on recommendations from family, Trip Adviser, and Fodor's Travel Guide. Trip Adviser was very helpful. When I get back I can let you know how it all went :) But some advice for you now: get a credit card where you can earn air miles if you don't already have one and rack up those points. Also, if you want to see Pearl Harbor, they start selling tickets online. Get them ASAP because they go fast. If they sell out, then you have to wait in line the day you want to go and hope you get walk-in tickets before they sell out. We couldn't get them online and didn't want to chance getting up at 5 AM to wait online and hope we can get tickets, so we booked a private tour. I'm a huge history buff so the thought of going there and not seeing Pearl Harbor crushed me!

I'm going for our honeymoon in about 2 months! We're going to Maui and Kauai. We picked these based off recommendations from people as well. People told us Oahu was just like a city and not special. So we went with Maui which has a lot to do and is not as busy as Oahu, and Kauai which is supposed to be relaxing!

It depends on what you are looking for. Honolulu is a city. Beautiful though and that's where pearl harbor is. Maui is definitely the most beautiful and where you would want to relax or do a luau.

We are honeymooning in Kauai for a week then hoping on a cruise. I found the cruise to be the best bang for your buck. Hope this helps.

Hawaii Honeymoon Help
Thank you so much ladies! We are still a year+ out but I want to get all my ducks in a row. I've been on trip advisor doing hours of research and my head is spinning. We are thinking 3 weeks: Maui, Kauai and Big Island because we probably won't be going back. I love planning trips so we are going to try to plan it without using a travel agent but it's so overwhelming. Ps. I actually just ordered some guide books if anyone is interested. It's the Revealed Series by Andrew Doughty, there is a book for each of the 4 large islands and my research states these are the best books.

Even though you're doing all the research yourself, it'd still be good to talk to a travel agent. Melissa from Trip Guy was really helpful to us. I did all the research first, then contacted her to see if she had any ideas and really knew the resorts in the area (we're doing Aruba, not Hawaii) and which were good and which to stay away from. Travel agents are also good for booking inter-island transportation and things like that. All the little stuff thats hard to time and book. It really seems like she can be as involved or uninvolved in the process as you want her to be.her e-mail is [email protected]

Thanks for the info. I know Melissa has been recommended on many forums so I'll have to reach out to her. Unfortunately, none of the booking windows (flights, hotels, excursions) are open yet since we aren't honeymooning until July 2016 even though the wedding is this October...

They weren't open for us either (August 2016) but she was able to book them for us in more advanced time than we could do it ourselves. The only thing we have to wait for is flights. We wanted to book so early so we could have time to make payments, rather than a lump sum.

We used Melissa for our Hawaii trip coming up in January.. We are going to Maui for a week.. She was able to get us into a hotel that when I looked at booking on our own was WAYYY out of my price range. Her hotel and airfare price was less than when I looked up just the hotel. VERY excited for it!

That is amazing - I have heard such wonderful things.
We are looking to rent condos since we are going for 3 weeks but maybe I will splurge on one of the islands! I am going to contact her about airfare - thanks!
