Help! Affordable yet nice reception venues???

Original post by mls282

Hi!
I just got engaged a couple weeks ago and I am already in a panic about reception venues. I want somewhere that has good food, and indoor/out door facilities and nice classy decor (nothing outdated).I am looking to have in on a Friday evening over the summer. Does anyone have any suggestions as to places that might be good? The added dilemma is that I currently live in Boston so I need to make a concise list of the top places and just go see those places. I was hoping someone could lead me in the right direction. Pricing I am looking at is about $70-$80 pp which would include sitdown dinner, open bar, facility and cake (main things) plus any other extras. And minimum person requirement 120 or under.

These are the places I have found online that I am interested in but I have never been to any of them so just wondering if anyone could provide input on these places and/or suggest others that might be a good match. Also, I am looking for ceremony on site (pref. outdoors).
These are the venues I was thinking about:
1. Betty’s Catering - Skylight room WWW.BETTYSCATERING.COM
$50 pp buffet, $78 pp sitdown

2. Renaissance http://www.renaissanceofastoria.com/
$85 pp sitdown,

3. Leonard’s – Prices?? Minimum person?
http://www.leonardscatering.com/

4. Jericho Terrace – Prices??? Minimum person?? http://jerichoterrace.com/flash/index.html

5. Captain Bill’s - $85 pp, 125 minimum
http://www.captainbills.com/catering.htm

6. Watermill Inn – expensive

7. Window’s on the Lake - http://www.windowsonthelake.com/

8. Hamlet Wind Watch - ???

Any inforsuggestions would help immensely!

Try Tall Grass Country Club, it sounds like exactly what you might be looking for.

FM me if you need more info.

I'm a Jericho Terrace bride....i absolutely loved it and they exceeded my expectations a million times over - but for a friday in the summer it will probably exceed your budget. I would try Fox Hollow too...it's a beautiful place with decent prices..it was also one of our top choices. I loved it but we were having a HUGE wedding and the room i loved was for a smaller guest list.

Miller Ridge Inn - just went to a wedding there...BEAUTIFUL.

There are also places that do package deals - Brentwood Country club has an amazing deal for under 10k that includes everything from dinner to flowers, dj, limo etc.... i dont know if the decor is neccesarily what ur looking for, but they do a beautiful job...

also take a look at the Meadow Club.

good luck!

Re: Help! Affordable yet nice reception venues???

I have prices for some RH- i have for sat afternoon/evening and sunday evening
sunday evening is going to be probably the closest to a friday night

Larkfield Manor
(631) 368-4422 www.larkfieldmanor.com

89.72 pp (this is with tax and grat)

George washingtone manor
103.82 (with tx and grat)

woodbury CC
117.32 (with tax and grat)

swan club 115.36 with tax and grat

George washington 121.77 (with tx and grat).

I hope this helps- most places add on a 18-20% grat and then tax so the orginally number is usually 20-25 lower...

Jericho Terrace and Leonards for a Friday night over the summer will definitely be higher than your current budget.

I'm not sure of the price or the outdoor capabilities, but check out Irish Coffee Pub - it looks so nice and cute. One of my co-workers always talked about it and liked it.

You might also want to check out Verdi's of Westbury (I think there's also one in Whitestone - never been to that one). Or maybe Antun's (there's one in Hicksville and one in Queens Village). Again, not sure of the pricing or outdoor capabilities.

Another place I love which would fall in your price range is Koenig's in Floral Park. But they don't have outdoor capabilities.

And as someone else suggested, check out the Swan Club.

if you want a Sunday evening, leonards is $67 pp with full vienesse hour. this is in July

Check out Rock Hill Country Club in Manorville affordable, and on a golf course. Cocktail hour is sick! I am having my wedding there in August. You really get your monies worth there. I have been to a few functions there and the food is really good.
