I purchased my gown from David's Bridal a few months ago. It really wasn't the dress that I wanted and fell in love with. I know, I know. I bought it because it fit really well and I was planning a wedding in six months at this point (this was right after we bumped the wedding from 4/10 to 9/09) and I was worried about it coming in in time and things of that nature so I really talked myself into it. Since then I have made myself like my dress and it's a beautiful dress. I've had 3 little crying breakdowns since planning the wedding and they've all been about the dress, I wish I would have gone back and ordered the dress I loved but they couldn't guarantee it would've come in in time to alter it so I lived with it. The other day I decided I owed it to myself to go look at different gowns and see if I could find something similar that I loved. I found two dresses that I love. The dress shop said that they could take the top of the one piece that I love and put it on the bottom that I like. Also, one has more silver stitching but I prefer white. I'm really excited about maybe getting a different (and more comfortable dress since mine is sooo heavy, all satin and I've since been looking and reception dresses and these would allow me to wear it the entire day!) But I'm also really hesitant because I've now been through dress regret so
I'm going to flood the topic with pics and ask for honest feedback and opinions. The sample sizes did not love me and the one with the skirt I loved was cut for someone 4'10'' and I'm almost 5'9'' which was comical, the top of it barely reached my navel, but you can get the idea. Thanks girls!
This is the top from the gown that I'm thinking of:
Very nice dress!! If you don't love the first dress you got, dont wear it. Maybe you could sell it? and get some money back?

I'm planning on it. It's a stunning Oleg Cassini that they discontinued 3 weeks after I bought it so someone may buy it :)

Can you maybe have the DB dress cut short and use it for your RD or maybe as your getaway dress when your leaving your RH? Just an idea

I have a dress for the RD and we're staying overnight in the honeymoon suite. I'm going to sell it or try to at least, it's gorgeous I just wanted something bigger and poofy really. FH keeps saying at this point he doesn't care he just hates seeing me cry about a dress when I'm supposed to love the dress. He hates it that everyone pressured me to try on dresses and I only went to one store, tried on 6 dresses and bought the one they had in stock. He feels like we're spending enough on the wedding that I should feel beautiful and I'm not going to argue that it's dumb to get a 2nd dress. I was already going to spend money on a reception dress and the skirt I picked is comfy enough that I can just stay in it! Maybe I can do trash the dress pics and trash it a little more than I planned on in the 1st dress if I can't sell it..who knows?

The trash the dress idea sounds good. At least now you are getting a dress you truly love

All I want is honesty. You can't be afraid of honest opinions with me when my MOH called while I was trying on dresses and staged an intervention so she could yell on speaker phone that my dress was 100x nicer than the 2 that my BM picture messaged her and she could not in good faith let me walk down the aisle in this one dress that she saw a photo of.
I don't want to impulse buy but everyone has such different opinions, that's why I thought I'd be able to get some good ones here :) Thanks Gail!

I agree that I love the DB dress too The top of the new dress you like is very pretty BUT I don't care for the bottom...it looks very cupcake and poofy.
However, you have to go with your gut because its the dress you're going to marry FH in and it SHOULD be perfect and exactly what you want

The one I have now? Yeah I have to wait for someone to get home and lace me into it lol I had photos of me in it a while back but I deleted them because it was two days after I stepped off a cruise and I was so bloated it was unflattering. It looks much better now. I'll make FH take some picks when he gets home at 4.
If I wear the DB dress though, it will only be for the ceremony and CH cause it's too heavy and uncomfortable. I'm not saying that it isn't pretty, it's just not functional or really as dramatic as what I wanted but a good half of the people who have seen me in it are with the dress because it's very contemporary meets vintage and pretty.

The DB dress is very pretty! maybe you could wear it for the ceremony and then choose a 2nd dress you are more comfortable in for the reception

I saw the pics from the DB dress and I felt the same way Gail did -- I just LOVE that dress!
But YOU have to love it, and that's what matters most.
I hope whatever decision you make, you're confident it's the right one and feel good about it!

I really like the DB dress alot. The top of the other dress is really nice, i dont really like the bottom does not seem to go with the top of dress but thats just my opinion and at the end of day you have to do what feels right for you. Hopefully it will all work out.

You are the only person that can make this decision. i like you bought a dress and I wasnt in love with it and everyone said I was crazy to not wear it but I wasnt happy. I decided to donate my dress and get a new one from julius and I am 100% happy with my decision. You are the one who has to wear it and love it. You know in your gut if it is the one for you or not.
