HELP- I AM SO MAD AT FH

I am in love with East WInd and FH is being such a pain about it. He wants to look more in Nassau becasue he thinks EW is too far. He wants to see Carltun on the Sound I know nothing about this place. CAN ANYONE provide and INFO about this place??? I am desperate. They are only holding a date at East Wind for me for a few more days.

I'm sorry I don't have info to give you, but I can relate. When we were first looking at places, I would get so nervous and want to book the place (EACH PLACe) after we saw it. Dates on LI seemed really tight, I really would like something and he is more the type to deliberate (and deliberate and deliberate and ....,well, you get the idea) It was driving me a little nuts. It will be worth it to check out your options if you actually have the time to do so. Just make sure that he knows he's driving you nuts! Good luck!

We have looked at a bunch of places and I found East Wind with out him and he is so upset that it is so far. (we have a lot of out of towners) But it is so lovely there and it is what I want......

I totally understand this and sorry i cannot help you with the carltun on the sound i did look it up on the sites and services web site and it says they start at like 65-200 pp and it looks nice too.
my fh and i had this problem too i wanted to book with giorgios and he wanted to book the fox hollow and he won. the main reason was because giorgios was just too far for people on a friday night in february if it was too icy or something people might not come.
again i know not the same but still i know what you are going through you may want to continue your search. sometimes our fh actually make sense...LOL Somtimes

Since you have a lot of out of towners, can't they just stay closer to the East Wind?

We can just barely afford East WInd..... but we can afford it.

We looked at several places. We each gave our own rating (A+ to F scale) and discussed why we gave the rating. We also gave a rating based on price as we are paying for this ourselves, money is a factor. We kept a spreadsheet with the scores.

We tended to give similar marks to each place within a point or 2, but when we walked out of the Riviera we both just knew it was the place. It never even made it to the score sheet.

I'm not saying the Riviera is the place for you but my advice is to keep looking until you find a place you both feel happy with.

well i believe that carltun on the sound used to be sail harbor..so any info on sail harbor would probably be helpful for you..food might be different but it is really beautiful there..or maybe you can scratch both ideas and just look for a place you both agree on..you'll figure it out..just take some time

Ah, OK if Carltun on the Sound used to be Sail Harbor then I have a bit of info for you and FH...

My FH and I checked it out...sort of. We drove all the way there, stopped in the parking lot, discussed how disappointing it was, and decided not even to go in. We turned around and went home. There is no scenery at all and it looks very small...just a parking lot, a fence in the back (no outside seating at all), a little gazebo, and beyond the fence, the LI sound. We just felt they could've done a lot more w/ the scenery. I really just looked like an average restaurant from the outside, nothing like East Wind.

My advice: go w/ your FH and check it out. Odds are he'll be as disappointed w/ it as we were. I've been to a wedding at East Wind and was very impressed. It just gives you a completely different (and better) impression than Carltun on the Sound. FM me if you want any more details on either place.

I loved it too. I called one the sales people in tears begging them to save the date for little bit more.

They were so kind on the phone. THey are going to try and work with me in terms of holding the date.

The Woodlands is nice, yes but $$$$. I got a quote of $115/pp for a basic package on a Fri night in July 2006.

I understand what FH means about it being far (East Wind), the important thing is that you two come to this decision together (marriage is a partnership). That being said, it is a good idea to keep looking, but don't waste time. Get the LI wedding pages and look up places in your price range. There are a lot of places out there, you BOTH need to be satisfied with the place. Is the location his only concern? There is a hotel on the premises at East Wind, so guests can stay there. Are the majority of your NY guests comming from nassau or suffolk? We were a little concerned about the location, but after we looked at our guest list we realized most of our guests are coming from Suffolk, so we really did not view this as a hurdle. Don't be so upset, you should compromise w/ FH and agree to see other places, but if you both don't like those places than you can book at East Wind.
Personally, I love East Wind and I highly recommend them. They are so wonderful there and they bend over backwards...the food is yummy too, and the prices are very reasonable. Personally, I view these aspects as more important than location, but everone is different. Honestly, I think you get a lot for your money at East Wind...but this day is for the BOTH of you, so you BOTH need to be happy.

I agree - my FH's family is from Nassau, and I have lots of OOT's too. But we LOVED the East Wind, and my FH was actually the one who compared all other places we looked at to the EW, and he said nothing else compared. I look at it this way - this is our day, and although we want our guests to enjoy themselves, and we're doing a lot to make sure that happens, the guests are coming to celebrate US, not the other way around. If they don't care enough about us to travel out there, (I'm not talking about people who are sick or older, I'm talking about lazy, selfish people) then forget them. I don't want them at our wedding anyway.

But, as lots of girls on here said, you BOTH have to be happy. Check out the other place, visit the EW again, and which place feels right. You'll know it. Good luck!

My FHs family is from NJ!~!!! We still booked East Wind..we were in LOVE! And they are all making a weekend or a sleepover out of it...we blocked rooms at Hampton Inn..don;t worry about the guest traveling, fi they truly want to be there, tehy will be!!!!!!! Go with your heart!

Hampton Inn is probably 20-25 minutes away from East Wind Its exit 63 off the LIE and definately do-able (is that how you spell that?). They do a shuttle too if you reserve and fill 10 rooms. I've heard positive reviews on the boards here so far.
