Hi, my FH and I are both from NJ but are having our reception at The Bourne Mansion. We are looking for a church near there. Preferrably en route to the Bourne. We are Protestant and know that Catholic churches are out. We are trying to find a beautiful & traditional looking church for our ceremony. We also need a church that will allow our home Pastor to officiate. PLEASE HELP! We are not familiar with the area and it's really hard to just come out there and drive around looking for a church! We appreciate any info!

We do have the option of having our ceremony at the Bourne, but we'd really much rather have it at a church. We are traditional in that aspect and we also don't like the room that is in the Bourne for ceremonies. It's beautiful but too dark and not churchy at all.

Try St. Marks Church in Islip. I think its Episcopal? It is a very pretty tudor church right on Montauk Highway just east of Islip town. The Bourne Mansion is in Oakdale - which is only one or two towns further east - but also on Montauk Highway - about 5 miles away.
I would also check into other Protestant churchs in Islip on Montauk Highway. There is a way to search on the internet for churches in certain towns. Islip is the 'biggest' town over there and I know that they also have other Protestant churchs- St. Mark's just happens to be my favorite because it is so pretty.

FH just talked to Ben today actually but didnt' ask him. Ben isn't exactly the most knowledgable. lol We do still have the list he gave us but it has mostly Catholic churches on it and I know we can't get married in a Catholic church since we are Protestant.
