V - also be careful w/ Queens since you guys work in Nassau. I was talking to hubby about it and he mentioned that sometimes there's also traffic going from Nassau to Queens and vice versa -- so not sure how important that is to you, but you might not want to be too far from where you guys work.
Thanks....
very true about traffic...but you will be going against it for the most part. Most people are commuting the other way towards the bridges, and you would be commuting away from the bridges. And roslyn is only like 20 mins from the part of queens I mentioned. You would be much further in richmond hill or a few of the other places you mentioned at first.

Re: Help with Apts...
You could also be near the railroad and you would not need to deal with traffic. If you are not set in your jobs, then I would not let that be a determining factor because you might settle for something.
I agree Fresh Meadows, Bayside, Auburndale are nice.

Re: Help with Apts...
so I was bored and saw this and started searching for you I know you wanted an apt complex, but this is in a condo complex, close to queens, and looks decent, its in Lynbrook so you are close to your jobs too. http://longisland.craigslist.org/apa/2485242357.html

With those requirements I soooo reccomend bayside or whitestone. It's not very 'queensy' lol. I don't feel very different living here than I did in li. You can for sure find a 1 bedroom in that price...I will give a looksy for you too and see what I can find too.
Thanks I will LOOK nowwwww

Re: Help with Apts...
West Hempstead isn't bad at all... neither is South Hempstead... if you want alternatives.
For working on LI - I would avoid Queens, unless you are on the border. Lynbrook, Valley Stream area.
Lynbrook has a bunch of apartment buildings that are pretty close to Sunrise Highway. And yea, Queens to LI traffic can REALLY s*ck.

I lived in a co-op in Mineola. I'm pretty sure you can find a building - one bedroom for 1200.
Just a suggestion, and the neighborhood isn't bad.

I def. vote for whitestone/bayside. It's very cute and safe over there- I lived on Utopia Parkway for a few years.
Although come to think of it- my car was stolen from me there- but THAT can happen anywhere!
Happy Hunting.
You can get a nice place for that price for sure!

crashing: Why not Huntington? Its close to your jobs and parts are inexpensive, plus the train station is a hub.

Re: Help with Apts...
We are in Floral Park its border queens and we went through a real estate agent (although you have to pay them, it was so worth it) they took us to see so many in and below our price range and we found one for 1,100 with two parking spaces (you arent allowed to park in the street overnight so this was a huge plus) we do pay cable/gas/electric seperately but it comes to 1200 a month easily. we are upstairs in a two family. love it to death!

Check Mineola, they have a few apartment complexes and are not far at all from where you both work.
