Well, as naive as I may be, I was hoping that peopel would get off their asses and do something. But if not, then whatever.
BTW-GW doesn't make laws, he only signs them. You have to go to legislature for that. But whatever. Give up if that's what you want. The rest of us ave what we need.![]()
Were you educated???

Just because I voice my opinion on this board does not mean that I don't do anything about it. I attend rallies and support my homosexual friends and family members. I have marched in parades and written letters for years now. Excuse me if I find the fact that this election has shown that (while I will contiue to work ) the strides I thought were being made obviously were not as great as I had hoped. I'm sorry that I find it disheartening. By no means am I going to stop the fight!!!
You are correct Bush does not make laws, but the House and Congress are both now Republican majorities. Not to metion the Supreme Court appointments. So, I do see some cause for concern.

I am not saying that you specifically don't do anything. And I know there is a big roadblock up ahead. But it sounds like people have given up their fight for their beliefs with their statements.

Re: Hey, people, ya know something!!!
ohhhh boy the name calling begins..as for those who think that presidents ahve the almighty power..think again..our politicians as cumulatively have power..not just one man..the president is the face of the organization and yes his personal interests can drive certain forces to act but he must have support of others.

Get off their asses???
You're becoming increasingly offensive and dare I say, ignorant.
You're not getting it - we don't need a NEW movement. We've had many movements for decades. DECADES. When is enough, enough? When will equality be for all?

I understand what you are saying. The election just happened and hopes were high that it will take a few days for people to get over their initial dissappointment. I think it is only natural.

Re: Hey, people, ya know something!!!
Isn't there enough noteworthy causes going around that we should be fighting for besides rights that don't directly affect us all?? Maybe some of us don't live in the politically corect world you and don't support or agree w/gay marriages. If I took to the street w/a burning torch for every cause I supported, I would never be home to exert the time or energy I really need for - my home, my life, my family. Personally, Feminisism is what f'd us ladies up in the first place!!! Wanna burn your bra? Have a party....

Why don't you take the mask off and start posting under your real name? I'd venture to guess that you don't have the guts to be so downright offensive and ignorant.
Using masks on a freakin chat board.
If you don't like the cause, move on. Take on your own cause.

No Jordan, you're not getting it. Everyone here is like oh' its over, womens rights are gone, gay rights are gone.' I am not a pessimist. I am an optimist. And if I believe in something, I fight for it. No one seems to wantto fight. Yes, get off your respective asses and do something. I am sorry if you find it offensive but that's the only way thing s will change. I know its a long journey, but crap, that's just life. Slavery didn't end in 20 years. Neither did a woman's right to vote. Equality for gays has come a long way, but no, not enough. So you keep on going until you get it. 100 years ago I wouldn't be able to be sitting in the office i am sitting in now. But I am. Why, because people fought for it.

No. Slavery lasted for 400 years. The civil right's movement was in the 60's.
What rights do gays have?
100 years ago? Try the right for women to vote was passed in 1920. It wasn't until the 70's when those pesky, hairy-legged, feminists fought for your right to sit in the office you're sitting in.

Jordan, you just made my point. Things take a long time. And my entire point is that people should keep fighting. That's all. Why do people take that so offensively?
