hi all - i'm new!

I just wanted to say hi, I recently started reading these boards and am quickly becoming addicted! I got engaged May 28th on Robert Moses beach and am very excited to start planning! We haven't done too much except settle on a general timing of the wedding - Oct 06. We are planning to start looking at reception halls in July. We are thinking of looking at the places below. Does anyone have any input on any of these? We are planning on having a little over a 100 people and cost is a big concern for us.

West Sayville Country Club
Riviera
Jericho Terrace
Leondard's
Woodbury Country Club
The Cottage & Carriage House at Milleridge
Swan Club
Verdi's of Westbury
East Wind

Congratulations and welcome!! You got engaged at my one year mark!!

Of those places you listed, I only saw two, Woodbury CC and Swan Club. WWCC was beautiful, especially the outside, it was actually our second choice.~

Swan Club had absolutely gorgeous grounds and very nice rooms. It was the most reasonably priced of the halls we saw, but a little hard to get to.

Good luck with your planning!

Welcome and Cograts!

I would say that out of all the places that you have mentioned, Milleridge Cottage, Woodbury Country Club and West Sayville CC would be my top choices, as far as ambiance. I have been to a wedding at Milleridge Cottage and it was gorgeous! And very affordable. Good luck!

Re: hi all - i'm new!

Hi fellow newbie!

We looked at Verdi's and liked it a lot, the prices are reasonable and they have some smaller rooms.

The cottage might be too big at Milleridge, but there's also the Carriage House and a large room in the Inn itself.

We also looked at Manor East and liked it a lot, and it's REALLY reasonable. I think the webiste it www.manoreast.com

There's also Stewart Thomas manor, they were really nice there, but the space wasn't right for us, since we are having around 75 and the room would have to be partitioned.

Actually, the only place we didn't like (just first impression) was Huntington Townhouse, the BM was super pushy and tried to get us to book on the spot!

HOpe this helps...

Congratulations and happy planning!

I'm partial to the Riviera. The price was more than fair. I've heard nothing but grat things about the food and service. I've had a wonderful experience so far with my BM, Michelle.
It's not your typical catering hall as far as decor. It's much more quaint. No crazy chandaliers or mirrored walls

FM me if you have more questions.

Re: hi all - i'm new!

Welcome and congratulations!!!

East Wind is very beautiful and reasonable. I am getting married in the country gardens on a sunday night. The minimum is 100 (during the day it's 90) and the price is $64.95 per head + tax and gratuity (comes out to $83 a head w/ all). They bend over backwards for you there! The other buildings in East Wind are also very beautiful but require higher minimums. You also get a complimentary room at the Inn on your wedding night. The food is excellent. Maybe go to a bridal show there if you haven't gone yet. Definitely go down and take a look!

Hello Anna.....just wanted to welcome you to LIW...you will soon see how addicting this site is and what a great big help all of these girls are!! Congratulations on your wedding and happy planning. Unfortunately I can't help you with your list because I didn't visit any of those halls....we are going with the Meadow Club in Port Jeff....they are very accomodating and the pricing is the cheapest that we saw. We are paying $89 for a Saturday night in May...that's with the tax and gratities added in. We are also having 150 people and have the larger room. It may be some thing you want to consider, although I hear all of the other halls are great as well. Good luck in your search and in making your decision!

Congratulations!!! I went to a wedding at East Wind a couple of years ago...it was very nice!! We're having our reception at Fox Hollow...I know it wasn't on your list but we're planning on about 120 people and the small room there is gorgeous...very different and pretty. Have fun looking around!!

Re: hi all - i'm new!

Congrats and welcome! We mostly looked at temples so I can't really help you with pricing, but I did attend a wedding at Woodbury CC a year ago and it was lovely. The food was great and the outdoor area is beautiful. Good luck!

Welcome aboard!

Always go with you gut feeling. See how they treat you and if you feel uncomfortable in any way that is not the place for you.

I think it really depends on what you are looking for in a hall. Whether it be marble and chandliers or something near the water etc. But what I can tell you is when you see the hall you decide on, you will know.

Good Luck and Happy Planning!!!

Re: hi all - i'm new!

Welcome to another engagement date twin!!

Of your list, we only checked out Verdi's of Westbury, Leonards and Jericho Terrace and you can see which one we went with!!

We both fell in love with Jericho Terrace and the way we were treated there!! We would have had a cheaper price at Leonards, but I was not wowed by their staff when we went in inquiring. We walked into Verdi's and walked out on the spot. There was a musty old smell when we walked in, but it might just have been that day, we never checked back.

If you are looking into Verdi's, you might want to consider Chateau Briand, which is about a mile west of it. I know they need at least 100 people to guarantee one of their rooms, and I would have booked there since I have a good friend who works there, but we didn't have enough people at the time for a room. (funny thing is, now we do!!)

Welcome to the board, just bear in mind a wedding on LI on average costs about $100pp after tax and gratuity and go from there.
