If you go with low, make sure they are very low -- people should be able to see over the top of it! The room is gorgeous!

Im NOT a big fan of high centerpieces. Yes, they are beautiful. But after being at weddings with them, I find them rather annoying to communicate with people at the table because they are always in thway
I vote low..I hade thm, and they looked just as nice JMO
