Do you think she has a shot to run for President?
And to become the first woman President?

any opinions on the republican candidates? LOL

Ok, so I'm not going to give my personal opinion of anyone, but things I've heard ABOUT the candidates! ha!

Living up in Massachusetts I certainly get a lot of opinions about Mitt Romney!!! He's LOATHED by the republican party pretty much. Seen by his colleagues as a liar. Started with the hunting thing, continues through a lot of other issues.

My FH's buddy in school is on Huckabee's campaign. He's seen as a likeable guy. Ultra religious. Still kind of the unkown to a lot of people. His religious overtones will gain him support of the bible belt and south, but unlikely to win over voters who are sick of conservative values. Would ABSOLUTELY be the dems #1 favorite candidate to win against. Would be easily beatable by either Obama or Clinton.

Guiliani is finished if he doesn't win in Florida. Never picked up steam after NH or Iowa.

McCain is seen by his party as a traitor and NOT as a republican. A lot of people w/in the party think he's soft on illegal immigration, the war, and other issues republicans hold close to them. I also think that if he doesn't get the nomination he will become an independent or a democrat.

If I had to choose who would win the nomination for the repubs I'd say Romney (has most delegates right now).

For the dems Clinton. Obama is popular now, but he doesn't have the name recognition, the experience, or the big guns (money, research team, strategists, etc.) that the Clintons have behind them. and Edwards can't compete with the other two's money.

For me - I say none of the above. I honestly have never been so disinterested in a political race since I've been old enough to vote.

While I think Obama is the best speaker/motivator/idealist of the bunch, I would never ever vote for him. His inexperience and his lack of FIRM stances on the issues is troubling.

I dunno. I honestly don't see a 'hero' in any of these people.

wow i had asked that question as a joke but great answer bon. See things can be answered in a way where people just state their views and facts and thats it.

I know i am probably one of the few people who are disappointed that Giuliani is not doing well...and ANYBODY reading this i don't care to hear arguements about how i am wrong, to state your opinion in a mature way then that is fine. I spent hours on NYE fighting with my family about this and i mean heated arguement ONLY because I said I liked him-yes simply just saying that.

Everybody argued about how one is corrupt, how another won't do this or this one will come into office and make such a huge difference . But i agree, there is no hero. It is sad but when it comes to politics I think once you get in you are corrupt even if you went in with the best intentions and had great causes and are so motivated to help the people. Once the rest of the people in government get their hands on you its over. Sometimes its hard, they are forced to choose between two important causes for instance and no matter what you will always anger one group of people, you can't please everybody, will never happen. So there is no president that will come along that will do great by all. Theres times they are told if they want one issue they feel strongly about to be put into action then they have to vote for something else that a person might be against, did that make sense? haha basically its a 'if you scratch our backs we'll scratch your backs' case. What it comes down to is finding a candidate that stand for a few of the issues you feel strongest about, theres other things they'll do that you might not like.

ETA: my original post was too long winded.

I think the nominees will be Clinton and Romney.

I don't want to vote for either.

well i quoted you and i am glad I did...You gave a very intelligent answer and done in a civilized manner. Its the way people CAN talk about politics.

I agree that it will probably be Romney for the republicans

Re: Hillary Clinton

I think thats a big problem in politics and why so many people our age are disillusioned and disinterested, Denise. good call.

Candidates make many promises (to us, to various groups, causes, etc) and seldom follow through on everything they say they'll do. It leaves us feeling ripped off and cheated!

I'm not an obama fan, but his optimism and his ability to really speak to people and appear genuine (although who the he!l knows these days!
) is seriously contagious for a lot of people - especially for our age demographic. I think people want to hear that kind of stuff. Buttttttttt, it's even more important that they lay out a solid plan and make good on their word. I think that's where Clinton has the upper hand. She has more experience than he does, and I'm sure that will continue to be where she hits him most.

I agree, the one thing I always hear people say about Obama is how well spoken he is. He talks and everybody wants to listen. Who knows maybe hes just a great talker, which is important but also putting into action what you speak about is even more important.

It is true, many will say what they will do but have no solid plan on how to do so. One thing that annoyed me so much about the kerry and bush debates was that Kerry kept saying how he will do universal healthcare. WHen he was asked over and over how he would do this, and realistically not just saying he will, he couldn't answer in a realistic way. His plan didn't make sense when it came to that one issue. One of his arguments was that everybody should have the same healthcare as politicians but Bush laughed and said how much it costs politicians, which was pretty high if i remember correctly. Bush took advantage of that one statement because the average household would never be able to afford that. And alot of people always say how america should have universal health care but many don't really understand what this means. YES other countries do have this, but they also give 60% of their income, yeah sorry but i dont know many americans who would be happy with this. Yes it can work in the netherlands, but that 60% goes towards healthcare and free college for kids and they also dont have the mentality to compete and be better than others, they have a more simple lifestyle view. Here in america its all about being better than the next person so nobody would give up that much of their income. People want things but do not realize what it takes to get those things. Which is why its so easy for them to say what they will do but the thing i want to know is how do they plan on doing it. I want to hear a solid plan like you said.
