honeymoon is driving me nuts**SORRY SO LONG***

ok the first place we picked about a year ago was tahiti/bora bora and moorea. The place looks amazing, just like paradise so thats why we wanted that...but after reading MANY reviews and really thinking about it, i realized as amazingly beautiful as it is, its not right for fh and I, neither of us lay on the beach, he HATES it infact and i can only do it for a short period of time. We also dont like to be on schedules when on vacation. The fact that there would be 3 restaurants to really choose from and the most popular one only having about 7 tables and us having to book a restaurant MONTHS ahead of time i didn't want to do. I dont want to make reservations months ahead of time. I dont know how id feel that day, maybe id be tired and want to go to dinner late. But we also want a little bit more of a nightlife.

OK so then it was capri, amalfi coast and other areas of italy. This sounded great and for MONTHS has been our plan. I was glad fh wanted to go to europe. WELL last night he says how he doesnt really want go to italy but capri will be ok...i said NO i want you to LOVE where we're going and be excited and he said he'll go if its what i want. So i said no we'll keep looking.

ok so fh started with his suggestions: san francisco and hawaii, cuba, dubai, argentina, bahamas which i said no right away bc i went there with ex and not going on HM to a place i was at with ex. He keeps going back and forth and its annoying bc we're usually on the same page with interests and likes lol but for some reason he has a thing about not going to europe

Then FH says we'll we talked about monaco so how about that...we go online, i show him the hotels, go to the visit monaco site and show him what there is to do and all that...well he LOVES monaco and now wants that and even picked a hotel. It helps that theres a casino every few feet lol. The one bad thing is that i went on a couple of the hotels sites and they STILL don't have rates yet for may, which was also the problem with capri. I saw general prices on another site that were from 07 so i do have an idea but still i'd rather get exact rates.

But even before we stick with monaco(which i dont mind of course bc since i was a teenager i used to say for my HM i want to go to the french riviera) But i want to explore all options i guess. What are you going or what places do you think we'd be interested in. Remember we need other activities besides laying on the beach, i know for some thats their dream vacation to lay in the sun and drinking nice cold drinks but we don't do that. I also like to just go out at night and be able to roam the streets, walk into a restaurant and then after go for drinks and have a lively atmosphere at night. Casino's are a plus, fh and i have a great time when we go, its good for us to go have drinks, fh gamble and hang out.

sorry this is long but i am gonna give a list of places and we're going to sit down and really look into every place and make sure we are 100% happy with it.

PS-no greece, i think it would be ideal for us but he doesn't want to

What about Brazil? Is that too far fetched? There are beaches, but there is also a ton to do I'm sure. You'd have the best of both worlds.

Egypt? Beaches and stuff to do. Someone here went to Egypt on their HM (and 07 bride).

I'm not sure if this is as extravagant as the places you've mentioned but we're thinking of Turks & Caicos. I'm hearing excellent reviews but I don't know much about it yet ((yea yea im a slacker)) From what I see so far there are alot of opportunities for water activities and such? Just throwing it out there.

wow, my fh is the same and he said the same thing like whatever you want to do but i wanted HIM to be excited and both of us to love it... unfortunately he doesn't get excited about travelling anywhere, so i'm pretty much like well we are going to europe because you are a sheltered only child and you've never left the country. but same goes about hanging on the beach - he hates it too so our HM has to be somewhat active. i figured the 7 day cruise (we've never been on a cruise together) around the mediterranean and then a few days in italy - wine country etc would NOT be too boring for him.

do you guys not want to sight see? Monaco sounds amazing, and i think one of the people at work also went to Monaco, and Portofino which is close but on the italian side and this really adorable fishing village. But if you do italian/french riviera vs. capri/amalfi, there will definitely be more options as far as nightlife. I've been to capri and amalfi and IMO you go for the amazing scenery and food and romance and all that, not to party etc.

good luck whatever you decide. maybe ask that travel tom guy what his thoughts are? this is when a TA might be helpful, if you find one you trust.

OMG I'd LOOOOVE to go to egypt and said it last night but no he doesn't want to...egypt is the one place im dying to go to.

If we go to brazil i dont think fh will come home...But that is really interesting, good one.

FH and I are going thru same debacle.

Our plan was to elope and go to tahitit, but we can't afford a wedding ADN Tahiti.

I would love to go to Portugal or Italy, but FH hates being on a plane for more than 5 hours.

We have alimited amount of time after or wedding if we decide to go right after because FH is in a wedding the Sunday following ours.

I was ticked a little because we picked our date MONTHS before they picked theirs. It's like they didn't realize we might want a honeymoon too?!

we went to turks and caicos last summer. There is NO nightlife, its beautiful though

Australian Gold Coast?
A friend of mine went there for her honeymoon. It was supposed to be two weeks and they stayed for another week they were having soo much fun!

OK, here's what I think about FH's suggestions:

San francisco and hawaii: I think you guys could have a blast in Hawaii (though no gambling) if you did Maui b/c there is a ton to do and a bunch of luxurious hotels, restaurants and nightlife. Kauai is beautiful but deserted to some extent - so you're really doing pre-booked activities and lounging, which you don't want. I'd say instead of stopping in San Fran, stop in Vegas, which is what I'm doing b/c FH and I love gambling!

Cuba: I'm going to say don't go. It's not legal to go there. Yes, there are ways to get there, by flying into Nassau or Mexico or Canada first, but it's still technically not legal. Do you really want the stress of having to fly thru another country to get there and then to lie when you return through US customs when they ask if you went anywhere else? I think that's too much stress for a HM (and believe me, I am Cuban and it's my dream to go to Cuba, so I'm the last person to say don't).

dubai: I think this would ROCK as a trip. I think Milana went there and Maldives - check her review. I would've loved this as a trip, but FH was scared about safety in the Middle East (even though I think Dubai is totally safe).

Argentina: Don't know a lot about it.

oh god whats wrong with these men...Fh loves to travel but not to europe and the funny thing is that if he went i know 100% how much he'd love it. He has the wrong perception. We've been on a cruise and there is alot to do and it will keep him busy so your Fh will like it.

Yeah monaco has alot more of a nightlife than capri...Well his family actually has a TA and he said to contact him soon so thats why we're narrowing down places. This way we'll go in there with a couple of places we're interested in, get the info we need from that and decide then

I was thinking Brazil. It's crazy how many places in the world there are to go.

Oh, FH went to South Africa and loved it, but I'm not sure it's 'honeymoony' He did safari rides, ocean adventures and LOTS of drinking!!!!

fh is trying to convince me for a week now on san francisco and hawaii but you dont understand, he is saying this bc of a store and yes i really mean a store..his favorite stuff is from the HUF store and theres only 1 in san francisco

You'd have to be willing to dedicate 2 full days of your HM traveling... that's an almost 24 hour flight.

i know that was the point i brought up to him...i told him we're wasting days. Its the same reason why not sure about going to 2 places for example capri and monaco, it sounds great but then again you're wasting time traveling and checking in and settling in. So yeah forget australia
