Honeymoon question/ advise

So FH and I want to go to completely different places for our honeymoon, and i was wondering if you girls can help me out with pricing and info on these places

He wants to go to italy, and i want to go to hawaii, or to french polonesia, or even just an island somewhere (i want to do things like snorking, scuba diving, swim with dolphins)

He basically wants to do something adventurous and doesnt want to be bored laying on a beach...i want to do something adventuous also but want to relax also after all the planning and stress from the wedding

Does anyone have info on these places..like prices, things to do at these places..any advise or info would be great!! thanks!!!

We looked into going to Costa Rica, that could be a great place for you guys. Part of the country has beaches but it's also known in other areas for it's rainforest and adventure sports. We ended up opting for Couples in Jamaica and figured the scuba, snorkeling and sailing activities that are included would be enough.

I was going to say Costa Rica too. My FH and I were at odds as to where to go and Costa Rica fits both of our wants. Definitely look into it.

It is! But actually originally I was doing a 12 night Princess cruise through the greek islands and staying in a mini-suite and this wasn't too much cheaper than what we are doing now, 10 nights French Polynesia. Costa Rica is beautiful-but Im not sure if August is the rainy season-I was there in Late April/early May and the rainy season was about to begin-so make sure you look into that if you plan to go there.

Re: Honeymoon question/ advise

i know FP is expensive but like someone above said we were going to consider a cruise to europe and i think the prices end up being somewhat close..we're not stressing about money for honeymoon (at least not yet) we want to figure out a place and then find out the cheapest way to do it..whether its staying there or cruise or whatever..so basically we're just trying to figure out italy, or an island type place

what is there to do at each? I need ideas to persuade him my way..or hear something really cool about italy to want to go his way cause as of now im not gonna be excited going to italy (thinking that we are going to just be walking around all day looking at historical things) and hes not excited about my idea (thinking hes gonna be bored on a beach all day) lol so we're desperately in need of ideas to figure it out!

Re: Honeymoon question/ advise

We did some research and yes, August in Costa Rica is rainy season. According to our travel agent however, rainy season means sometimes a short period of rain. Particularly in the beach areas, its much dryer there than in the rain forest areas, he said the rain is not usually a big issue.

If you check out the Couples websites it lists what's included. It has all kinds of watersports, classes and activities. If that can win him over, you can spend most of the trip on the beach!

Maybe you guys could do a European cruise? You could see the sights at the ports but relax on the boat.

a compromise might be Greece... you can do it on a cruise or fly there and island hop. there will be plenty of time for relaxing on the beach and doing water activities, but also explore and be adventurous.
We went on our meditteranean cruise-and we loved it ! we got a good mix of relaxation and adventure! It was so much fun!

We went during the rainy season too - it did not rain all day as you might think - there were brief periods of (very heavy) rain, mostly in the late afternoon. I actually loved it when it rained, it was an awesome thing to experience. One of the places we stayed- Tabacon, had hot springs, and you could sit in them during the rain, it was wonderful. We still had plenty of sunny beautiful weather, and had the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. I would DEFINITELY recommend it.

Well- we went to Rhodes and went to Fairliki Beach resort and they had parasailing and I believe some other stuff-Obv. not like you will get in the caribbean, but it was there-
But you will find beaches in Mykonos
there was a boating tour I believe-we did not do it though...when we went to Rhodes and Mykonos we just went to the beach and relaxed and then shopped...in other places we were more adventurous!

We did a celebrity cruise

Re: Honeymoon question/ advise

When FH and I were choosing HM spots, we were looking for both beach and activities.

In the end, we chose Greece. There's plenty of stuff to do, but you can also lay on the beach. We both love the beach, but can only stand it fo so long. So, it's a great compromise.

As for Hawaii, you two could consider it. When people think Hawaii, they usually only think beaches. But aside from that, there is PLENTY to do there. You can definitely go scuba diving and sailing and hiking and sightseeing--this will also give you the best of both worlds. And August isn't that expensive to travel to Hawaii either!

I've always had lots of fun in Mexico: snorkel, horse-back, eco-adventure type stuff & then cocktails by tghe beach.

Re: Honeymoon question/ advise

ok, I'll start with the disclaimer that I'd be bored with a beach and dolphins myself.....

Since your FH suggested italy, it sounds like he wants to experience a different culture, and/or see cultural/historical sites...

ya know, there are plenty of places with both beach and culture / history. you could go to spain, and see barcelona and ibiza ( a lively/beachy environement similar to cancun).

you could go to greece (like us ) and see crete (ancient ruins, gorgeous port cities, and amazing nature reserves), followed by santorini and another island like mykonos (both very resorty/beachy)

For italy, you could go to rome, and then the alfami coast or the island of capri.... both have gorgeous beaches....

there are lots of compromises out there!

My friend just came back from her honeymoon in Mexico-Riviera Maya. They are very adventurous and loved it! We almost considered it as well, but then decided to go far away to the Maldives!

We chose Greece for same reason!

We can only sit on the beach for about 2 hours before getting bored!

Believe it or not, there's a lot of stuff to do in Hawaii! There are some adventurous things to do like hiking or certain water sports, biking down a volcano, seeing the sun rise from the top of a volcano, trekking to waterfalls on the road to hana in maui, etc etc. There is definitely enough to appease both of you!
