HoneyMoons...

We are staying at a Sandals resort in St. Lucia and for a 2-story verandah suite with butler service we were just under 5k... I'm sure after airfare and everything it'll be in the 5's though- 5k isn't too bad though- my sister paid almost 8k for a honeymoon in Hawaii and it wasn't all inclusive so she had to pay for all of her meals and everything too!

For a 7 day/6 night honeymoon we came in a little below 5K at a Sandals resort in St. Lucia - private 2 story villa w/ butler service (sale through their website). With airfare, we'll probably be a little above 5K. You can definitely stay below 5K at their resorts if you stay in a basic room, but we splurged for our honeymoon.

haha I think we are staying in the same room.. Sandals La Toc?

HoneyMoons...

Wow. I clearly never travel. FH and I want to take a mini-moon to the Florida Keys before we head to Italy on our real honeymoon in the spring. When the travel agent asked me for our budget for FL for 3 nights, I told her $2K, only b/c I have NO idea how much a vacation costs! Seriously - I HATE flying so I have no clue how much a trip costs. Do you think I can go there for cheaper?

I figure for Italy our budget would be around $8K-$10K b/c I want to travel down the coast line. I would love to go backpacking and stay in a hostel, but I think I'd be scared of getting murdered. I know, I let the movies get to me lol.

Re: HoneyMoons...

Noo don't think that, I just always made it a thing since I was 21 to always travel to a new place every year. Italy looks beautiful!! Pretty much flights to Europe are over $1K, pending when you book and you can probably get it cheaper if there is an option to transfer. Any flights that are over 6 hours I like to take the night flights so I can sleep and wake up when we land, but I can sleep anywhere, crawl up in a little ball and knock out LOL. Backpacking through Europe is definitely something on my bucket list that I want to do one day..LOL and don't worry I would be scared of staying in hostels too

FH and I were just looking up Honeymoon information earler! We are thinking of perhaps doing Costa Rica at one of the higher end resorts. Since the cost of living is low there, it's not a TON to go all out. Plus airfare prices are relatively low! I would love to stay under 5k for ~9 nights.

Where in Costa Rica are you looking? That's on our short list of potential honeymoon spots!

We are thinking of splitting up the trip. Half near the beach (prob do all inclusive there), half near the rainforest!

These two resorts jumped out at us:

Beach: http://www.starwoodhotels.com/westin/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=3560

Rainforest: http://www.arenalnayara.com/home.php

We are thinking about the same Sandals in St. Lucia - would LOVE to be able to the same deal - how far in advance did you book? We are getting married next April but prob can't honeymoon until Late July.

We booked about a month and a half ago. We just aren't able to book the flights yet. Sandals keeps swearing that it's the last day of the sale, but I think it's still going on. Check out the website!

I definitely think you can get a cheaper trip to the Keys depending on hotel you stay at and when you're actually going. Your flight may be a little bit more expensive because its around MLK day so parents tend to take kids on vacation around weeks where they'll miss the least amount of days (my mom used to take me out for thanksgiving and for mlk to florida since we had family there). I dont think it will be MUCH cheaper... but I think you can swing it for 1k-1.5k especially if its only for 3 nights.

Also... I would never want to stay in a hostel after watching that movie so I don't blame you. Thanks to Final Destination 2... I will NOT drive behind a truck on any road that has anything on the back of it lol

HoneyMoons...

I thought I was the only one who wanted to go to Australia! I actually spoke to a travel agent at a showcase who was like 'why would you want to go THERE?' umm...cause once I pop out a kid or two I will never get there till I'm old enough for the senior discount...haha....it's the perfect time of year (going in December when we have 2 weeks off of school).....I was thinking possibly a cruise too, since we both love them, possibly a short trip to New Zealand or Fiji...no clue...plus, my in laws are paying...so anything goes :):):)

I was looking at the Westin too! I love that it has a small adults only section.

The Rainforest one you posted looks AMAZING! I can't wait to show FH when he comes home from work!

HoneyMoons...

My FH and I are both very fair skinned so we knew something warm and tropical wasn't in the cards for us. We decided to go on a cruise of the British Isles (England, Ireland, Scotland, and they just added Paris!). My parents will be giving us their time share week so hopefully we will only have to pay airfare and excursions. I just like the idea of waking up somewhere new every day! Plus, we are only going to go on a trip on this once so we wanted to take advantage of it!

FH & I were going to do that!!! We decided that all the 'hopping' was not how we wanted to spend our honeymoon but it is DEF on the lifetime trip. Going to be amazing. HAVE A BLAST!!
