Is anyone doing these?? I have a large # of guests staying at a hotel and want to give them a little something. Something unique, but not too expensive. Any suggestions?

Re: Hotel Gift Bags
I would like to do the same thing. . . I'm not exactly sure what I'll decide . . but one thing is, I'll definately be going to COSTCO'S to buy a bunch of things in bulk. This should keep the cost down. Maybe a combo of different, fun things.

Re: Hotel Gift Bags
I didnt do them, but the most common items are snacks (chips, pretzels, crackers) water fruit list of local attractions long island postcards or something particular to LI LIRR map/schedule phone lists of friends and family in the area directions to ceremony & reception mints/gum sometimes personal items like travel size toiletries disposable camera and a thank you letter from the B&G.
You can probably get most of things at Costco/BJ's, Target and party city or odd job for gift bags. It doesnt have to cost too much.
In addition to what Christine did...I went to CVS and bought $1 travel sizes of deodorant...toothpaste...lotion...etc

Re: Hotel Gift Bags
I did this for my wedding! All of my out of town guests raved about them! I did:
A bottle of LI Wine (I used Pindar winter white) Cheese and crackers Some lindt chocolate truffles Brochures of Area attractions A letter welcoming them to our wedding Poland spring water little packets of starbucks coffee minimuffins and jam for breakfast or a snack. herbal tea bags a corkscrew (bought for cheap at 99 cents store) a mini snowflake ornament (our wedding theme)
all in snowflake gift bags.
I didn't do toiletries b/c my hotel provided pretty nice ones anyway.

Re: Hotel Gift Bags
Ladies - Thank you for all the good ideas. I know someone (from NY) who went to St Louis for a wedding and got a gift bag at the hotel. She told me about it, and I thought that it would be a good idea, since I too will probably be having many out of town guests staying at a hotel. Thanks for the suggestions of what to actually put in the gift bags though.

Re: Hotel Gift Bags
I'm also doing gift bags for guests!
*Personalized Thank You card *advil/tylenol *bottled water *snacks (dunno what yet) *Directions to/from church; church to reception; reception back to hotel *Car service cards/phone #'s *Invite to hotel bar to socialize after the wedding *Invite to brunch the following day *Airport reminder: call front desk prior to check out to arrange your free shuttle ride back to JFK *Scented candles - this went over really well at my Mom's wedding, esp. w/me! We loved having the hotel room NOT smell like a hotel room - not that they smelled bad or anything, but .. . you know what I mean, right?

Re: Hotel Gift Bags
I'm working on mine as we speak! I'll post pics when they are done (in a day or two). We are putting everything inside pretty 'Love' gift bags I got at the dollar store. I love that place! There is a great one in Franklin Sq. that I went bonkers at! In them I am putting:
-two cups with a pretty beach scene on them (LI feel to it)
-bottle of water
-bottle of snapple
-travel kit (toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors) in a little case thingy
-all sorts of toiletries (Mom's friend works in a dermotolgist's office and got me TONS of free samples): shampoo, conditioner, lotion, facial cleanser. body wash, daily facial cloth, soap, and a mini rubber duckie!
-asprin
-directions to the church and reception
-a visitor's guide to LI and some brochures
-some bags of snacks
-Tic Tacs
-Gum
-LI postcard/keychain
-local maps
-personalized letter from us
I think that is everything! I love how they are coming out and think our guests will really appreicate them!

2 bottles poland spring water pretzles m&m's snicker bar mints gum cheese & cracker snack pack starbursts pear apple
They went over real well!

Re: Hotel Gift Bags
I was thinking of using these white boxes for the Out of town gift bags. I will put some sort of decoration of it so it does not look to plain.
Let me know your thoughts or do they look too much like a lunch box?
I did one. I went to Michael's craft store and got plain natural colored gift bags (brown-ish) and decorated it with a wedding cake stamp that I colored in.. Then I filled with with 2 bottles of water, pretzels, snicker bar, skittles, cheese & crackers, an apple and a granola bar or two. Then a quick note that said 'thanks- we love you'....
Everyone has been to New York before- so I didn't have to give them any sight seeing information- not like they had time to sight see anyway :)
If anyone needs more information on the decoration of the bags- FM me.

Re: Hotel Gift Bags
We just finished ours too. We did a bottle of Pindar (Summer Blush), 2 bottles of Poland Spring, an LI Guide, candy, Tic Tacs, Tylenol, crackers, trail mix, a votive candle in a glass holder, matches (from the hotel), a corkscrew, a business card with important phone numbers, and a letter from FI and I.
Here's our pic (but we are not using the big bow on top - we changed our minds!):
