I visit Puerto Rico every year to visit my family, but we always stay in a hotel. FH can't stand to stay without an AC The best hotel we have stayed at is a 15 minute drive from the Cruise docks. It is located in Isla Verde (a 5 minute drive from the airport). It is called the Intercontinental hotel in Isla Verde, Carolina. It is located next to El San Juan Hotel which is also good but more money. There is also the Ritz but they are way too expensive. The Intercontinental is right on the water. Great pools and service. The rooms are not extremely extravagant, but they are OK. Make sure you visit a restaurant called La Casita if you like hispanic food for great prices. Isla Verde is a very expensive location, but you can still find good food at affordable prices and La Casita is one of those. They are located immediately accross from the hotel. It is inside a shooping center and if you don't ask for it you might miss it. Good luck and have fun!!!

Re: Hotel recommendations for Puerto Rico
My parents stayed in a Marriott down there for a few nights before the cruise - they said it was almost better than the cruise itself!!!

my friend swears by the intercontinental--pristine beach, swim-up bar, and in close proximity to the nightlife & shopping in san juan. we might go in feb.

i have stayed here also 2 times in PR but if I coul have afforded it at the time or it ws my HM i would stay at the El San Juan because it is gorgeous!!!!!! As long as you are on Isla Verde you will be near all the tings to do and it is only a 10 min and $15 cab ride to where the cruises take off from!!!

El San Juan
I haven't been there but my FH has and loves it. We are going on a cruise out of Puerto Rico and he wants to go there for a few nights after the cruise.

Re: Hotel recommendations for Puerto Rico
Our honeymoon was in Puerto Rico. We stayed at the Marriot Stellaris Hotel & Casino. It was very nice. Down the road from us was the Intercontinental...I heard that was a great hotel too...and less crowded.

I would also recommend the Intercontinental. I stayed there also. Seems to be the best bang for your buck.

The Marriott is nice and so is the Radisson. I think the Radisson is alot cheaper though, which is always good.
