how are you paying your vendors?

question: so my photographer wants a $500 deposit, but wants either cash or money order, and then the balance I think is 3 weeks before the event. Is this pretty standard? Also, what do you think of the cash or money order thing? Is a certified check better? How do I prove then whether or not he cashed it? What do you guys think???

Either credit cards or check...no cash yet. Before the wedding with the balances it depends on the vendor.

I've paid all my vendors in cash but have made sure to get a receipt every time.

all vendors what either cash or money order the day.. obviously cash is preffered.. personal checks are not accepted and my RH said either cash or certified check for the final payment

edt: okay I thought you were asking about the final payment!

We have been paying cash and our bank checks for the most part... We ALWAYS get reciepts for both

I paid cash for the deposit to most of my vendors (just because it saved me a trip of having to go to the bank to deposit money that needed to be deposited) In any case, I just had them note on the contract that the deposit was paid in cash and have been sending checks in with a photo copy of the contract or invoice if they send one to me. Anyone being paid the day of I'm sure will require cash or certified check.
