Looking at the 'Let's post rings' thread - it seems like everyone on here has nearly a 2ct center stone! Wow ladies.
I put a poll to keep this semi-anonymous because I know this is a personal question.
*Edited to add 'tacky' to post title * (Notice how tongue-in-cheek I am about all of this ) and to change 'diamond' to 'center stone' for both clarity and to include all of you girls with beautiful non-diamond engagement rings (I can't access the poll in edit mode, apparently)

The only reason I clicked on was because I was a little stricken that anyone would ask. How would you feel if a stranger on the street asked you how big your diamond was? I know we all have a different type of bond, but still, come on.

I agree with you. what is the difference bet. posting a pic and posting the specs...
I just think she was surprised by HOW big they all appear...I know I was- and was curious as to size..
If anyone thinks you can measure someone's love and fidelity by the amount of money spent on a ring...they shouldn't be getting married.

I just wanted to add something to this thread.... the average size of a diamond engagement ring in the U.S. is 3/4 of a carat. No one should ever feel bad about what they got (even though some folks love rubbing their wealth in people's faces).

That made me laugh. I vote for: Yes, it is tacky! (But I won't take offense to anything anyone says on these boards - I will get 'defensive' but I will not get personally slighted - so I appreciate your opinions if they aren't sly or sarcastic comments or digs.)
I do agree that it is as tacky as the 'Let's post rings' thread - or 'How much did you pay for your house?' type-of thread. Re-read what I wrote - I wanted this *anonymous* (therefore no need to read or reply if you don't want to post - even with the anonymity - and no need to insult!) and it was simply for curiousity's sake due to the pics I see on the other post. (I also did not ask about the total weight of your rings with side stones.)
I personally don't answer when people ask me 'ohmygod, how big is that?' - just like I would never answer how much money I made or how big my fiance's.... nevermind. That's why I did a poll, rather than a free-form reply thread.

Come on ladies, can't we all just get along!!! I think it's actually pretty interesting. Nobody needs to know who posted and how big. It's just a little poll out of curiousity. And one of the other LIW girls was so right... there's been WAY tackier things posted!!! Everyone just take a chill pill. If you weren't interested, you should have just posted somewhere else.

I agree as well- while its a touchy or tacky kind of subject there are a lot of others here that are just as bad. I also see it more of a curiosity and keeping it anonymous was the right way to do it. ( if we're going to go there)
